Video Transcript for Deka Heat Shrink Ring Terminal Review DW05740-1

Today we're going to be taking a look at and installing the Deka Heat Shrink Ring Terminal. You're simply going to tie all the grounds together and we'll attach the Deka Heat Shrink Ring Terminal and we'll simply heat shrink it. You're just going to heat up the outside and it'll melt around there and it's going to seal out any kind of dirt and grime or corrosion that could get inside there. You'll see it's going to shrink up and it just clamps around the wires. You want to make sure you have a nice clean spot to put your ground. Just simply scrape off any old paint, debris that's on there. You want to have a nice clean area with bare metal for your ground to attach.

We have a nice good tight ground. That's going to complete our look and install of the Deka Heat Shrink Ring Terminal.

Everything is working great. Your parts helped me put a nearly new, yet fender-bendered, trailer back together for a very reasonable price. It rolls down the road great! Ill probably be contacting you all again in the near future for a wiring harness for a trailer brake controller on my new-to-me F250 when the weather finally decides to dry out a bit!.

by:

Just as advertised.

  • What Wire Gauge Should Be Used When Installing the C-800 Klauber Stabilizer Motor
When installing the C-800 Klauber Stabilizer Jack Motor, # LC138445, the largest gauge wire possible should be used. I recommend 10 gauge wire running from the battery to the 20amp breaker and then to the motor. As well as on the motors ground circuit. I recommend using # 10-2-1 wire. The wire is sold by the foot and is a jacketed 2-10gauge wire. I also recommend the Deka Heat Shrink 12-10 Gauge Butt Connectors, # DW05745-5 and 2- Deka Ring Connectors, # DW05740-1 to connect to the circuit...

  • How to Convert a Boat Trailer w/ Surge Brakes to Electric Brakes?
To convert your trailer from surge to electric brakes you are going to need a new set of brake assemblies that match the brake flange on your boat trailer. The Dexter Electric Trailer Brake Kit - 12" - Left and Right Hand Assemblies - 6,000 lbs item # 23-105-106 have a 5 bolt mounting flange and fit 12" hubs. These would be a great start but you will want to ensure they are the same size as your current brakes. You will need to look inside your hubs as well. If your hubs have casting holes...

  • Wiring Additional LED Lights On Yahama Royal Star Tour Deluxe Motorcycle
You would need to install a switch for the lights from the 12V battery. Since you are installing LED lights, you should not have any problems with power draw. We do not carry switches that are specifically designed for motorcycle lighting but you may want to take a look at the product page I attached for the switches we offer. You can add an inline fuse holder like part # SWC9545. Each of the lights will need to be grounded to the motorcycle so I recommend ring terminals like part #...

  • Parts Needed For Electric Brake Conversion On A Four Winns Trailer With Two 3,500 lb Axles
We can definitely help with that. Since your trailer uses a 3,500 lb axle it should use standard bearing sizing. That being an # L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) inner bearing and a # L44649 (1.063" inner diameter) outer bearing. If that is what you have, you can use the Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K. This hub comes pre-grease and has a 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern. new dust caps are included. To convert to electric brakes you will also need the etrailer Electric...

  • How To Properly Ground The Wires On Electric Drum Brakes
Typically the ground wire would be connected to the frame of the trailer using ground screws like # FA1131822 and a ring terminal like part # DW05740-1. Using heat shrink is always recommended to help prevent corrosion. Connecting the ground to the axle technically would work, but the frame will be a much more secure location. You should be able to find a good clean spot on the frame and keep the grounds protected and out of the elements as much as possible.

  • Recommended Installation of Vehicle Wiring for a Trailer on a 2011 Volkwagen Tiguan
I can help you wire up your 2011 Volkswagen Tiguan to have a versatile trailer connector. Since you are not needing the reverse lights connected, then you will only really need a 4-/7-way plug. Because of this I would instead recommend you go with the Tekonsha ZCI harness # 119125KIT. This Tekonsha kit also comes with a circuit tester, and has a slightly higher amp capacity over the Hopkins harness. To adapt a 4-way to a 7-way, I would recommend the universal installation kit # ETBC7....

  • Does Trailer Battery Need to be Grounded
Yes, in addition to using 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 to send power to your battery, you also need a length of it and a ring terminal # DW05740-1 to ground the negative post of your trailer battery to your trailer frame. Please note, just like in the answer you are referring to, connecting the 10 gauge wire to your trailer 7-Way will only provide you with a maintenance charge. If you're looking to charge your battery without hooking it up to a standard wall outlet then you will need a battery...

Whether your 2003 Chevrolet Silverado came with a factory 7-Way or not, the wiring for both the brake controller and the 12V power pin on a 7-Way is already run. If you check out the video I attached of the Prodigy P2 # 90885 being installed on a similar 2003 Silverado you can see what needs to be done with the wiring under the fuse box at the 3:20 mark. • Grounding the Optronics Thin Line Sealed LED Marker/Clearance Light # MCL-91AK
You are correct that the Optronics Thin Line Sealed LED Marker/Clearance Light # MCL-91AK that you referenced will require a jumper ground wire to be run to a metal portion of your trailer frame if it is installed on a plastic surface. You will want to use a ring terminal like # DW05740-1 to make a solid ground connection to the trailer frame. Sanding off any paint from the grounding spot will help ensure a good connection.

  • If Brake Wiring is Damaged do Trailer Brakes Need to be Changed Out
If it's just the wiring that has been damaged then you only need to replace the brake wires. We recommend using 10 Gauge Wire # 10-1-1 and Heat Shrink Butt Connectors # DW05745-5 for the installation. Electric brake assemblies have 2 wires; 1 for power and 1 for ground. It doesn't matter which wire on the brake assembly is used for which function. Should your ground connections be damaged as well then you can use the Ring Terminal # DW05740-1 for the ground wire and the Self-Tapping Screw...

  • Parts Needed for Custom Wiring a Trailer For Separate Turn and Brake Lighting
In order to have separate turn and brake lights on your trailer, I strongly recommend using a 2-wire to 3-wire converter, like the Tow Ready # 118158 on the trailer. This will allow you to have 4-way connectors on both the vehicle and the trailer. The 4-way connectors are much more common than 5-way connectors, and will allow to you tow other things with your vehicle, or tow your trailer with other vehicles, without the need for an adapter.
