Trailer Brake Controller Installation in 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK

Question:

I just had the Jeep 7 flat wiring harness installed. It includes the blue wire to connect to the brake controller. Does the JK have a wiring plug under the dash to connect the plug and play wiring of a controller to? If not, what must be done?

Your 2014 Jeep Wrangler JK does not have a plug-in brake controller port under the dash so wiring in a controller like the Prodigy P3 # 90195 will require hardwiring. We offer a complete installation kit # ETBC7 that includes all the parts needed, including a 7-way. Although you have a 7-way socket now, its not a bad idea to have a spare on hand.

The kit includes the duplex wiring to bring brake and 12V power signals to your trailer connector, and circuit breakers and connectors to install the controller. You do not need to order any additional parts. The linked video and article illustrate the ETBC7 installation.

If you prefer to not order the kit you can order the individual parts without the 7-way. You will want to order duplex wire # 10-2-1 (sold by the foot), wire loom # 39035, 30-amp circuit breaker # PK54530, 40-amp breaker # 9510, two of Quick Splice Wire Connector # SWC501915-1, butt connectors # DW05745-5, four of ring terminal # DW05740-1, and three of ring terminal # 44-5356A.
