How To Properly Ground The Wires On Electric Drum Brakes

Question:

What is the best way to connect ground wires for electric brakes. I am referbing a utility trailer and noticed the wires originally appeared to be soldered to the trailer axel. is that the best place to ground the brakes? or should I connect to the main trailer ground.

Typically the ground wire would be connected to the frame of the trailer using ground screws like # FA1131822 and a ring terminal like part # DW05740-1. Using heat shrink is always recommended to help prevent corrosion.

Connecting the ground to the axle technically would work, but the frame will be a much more secure location. You should be able to find a good clean spot on the frame and keep the grounds protected and out of the elements as much as possible.
