Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Determining the Bolt Pattern

The first number in the bolt pattern is the number of bolt holes. The second number denotes the diameter, in inches, of the circle on which the bolt holes sit.

Bolt Pattern - Odd

To determine the bolt-circle diameter on wheels with an odd number of bolt holes, measure from the center of any bolt hole to the point halfway between the two bolt holes directly across from the first. (Example: "5 on 4-1/2" means 5 bolt holes with 4-1/2" measured to a point halfway between the opposite bolt holes.)

Bolt Pattern - Even

On wheels with an even number of bolt holes, measure from the center of one bolt hole to the center of the hole directly across from it. (Example: "8 on 6-1/2" means 8 bolt holes with 6-1/2" from the center of one hole to the center of another on the opposite side.)

Bolt Pattern - Side

Measuring the distance from the center of one bolt hole on the wheel to the center of a bolt hole right next to it can also help to determine the bolt pattern.

  • If D = 2-5/8", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-1/2"
  • If D = 2-3/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 4-3/4"
  • If D = 3", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5"
  • If D = 3-1/4", then the bolt pattern is 5 on 5-1/2"

A good alternative to 20.5 x 8-10 tires

Purchased 2 tires for my trailer. Shipping was fast just in time to install them on my pop up for a trip up north to Lake Isabella .
Drove there no problem and at the camp site the dirt roads are all full of rocks ,cracks , dips , wash outs and the tires held up great .

Drove home no problems either . I seriously love the look of the tires and thr handling was smooth . Attached are pictures of my old tires and the new ones .
Thanks for another great product .

by:

Order arrived quickly and it only took 45 min or so to swap. New tires fit well - may be very slightly bigger than the old ones.

by:

Difficult to find wheel and tire combinations are right here at etrailer…….. I was surprised as well as pleased to find the perfect combination of load range and bolt pattern …… packaging was great ….rims and rubber are all nice and clean

by:

Very happy with my tire purchase. It was great having them pre-mounted! Extremely fast ship. About 36 hours once the item was back in stock. I’ll purchase tires from eTrailer again.

by:

Amazing. I usually only feel comfortable buying on e-bay, after reading reviews was a little skeptical how there could possibly be so many high reviews but decided to give etrailer a try for a pair of trailer wheels and tires. Made order on Monday at 5 pm. received e-mail immediately that order was received and by 10 pm. another e-mail to inform me that order was shipped with a tracking number. Was very interesting to track my order and see it making it's way to our destination in Florida. Arrived just as informed at 4 pm. on Thursday. Items were exactly as described. Very pleased. 5 star for sure

Was very happy with the trailer wheels and tires. Great experience.

by:

Great tire fits my 95 jayco pop up camp er.

by:

I blew out and old tire on my trailer with a heavy load that wrecked the tire and wheel. This was a perfect fit, good price, and very quick delivery. This is the second time I have used etrailer, and am very happy with them.

Although I do not use the trailer very much, I am still very happy with the tires and the purchase.

been about a year now, no flats, no issues, all is well with my tires and rims.

by:

I have an older camper trailer and was thinking about sanding/painting rims to out new tires on, I found these, for only a little more than just tires locally. Justin spent rime with me on phone to make sure I got what I needed at best value. Definitely recommend them and the service!!!

by:

High quality product.Good price. Fast s hipping.

by:

Used these to replace tires/wheels on a 1985 Coleman Pop up camper. Price was great for wheel/tire combo. I have used them recently on an 8hr trip each way. Towed at 65mph on the highway, lots of back roads mixed in. Towed great, no sway. Never got too hot. Hopeful that they'll last well with minimal issues. As always great service from etrailer, quick shipping.

by:

Perfect fit and quick shipping.

The tire and wheel fit perfectly and is doing just fine on my trailer

by:

Exactly what I needed for my popup camper. Though I don't overload "too" much these tires but the load rating gives me that piece of mind. Price was lowest I could find with shipping coasts included. Extremely happy with purchase. Great company!! Fast shipping. Thanks a lot. I placed just under 3500 miles on them last year and feel they will last at least 10 years before I replace for safety purposes. Again just used seasonally.

by:

I bought a pair of these tire and wheel assemblies for my coleman pop up camper. They were already set up and easy to install. We camped all summer long and we had no issues and the wear on the tires better than expected.

by:

The tires are fine and have been working well. One was missing a valve stem cap.

by:

We had bought 2 tires to replace the old dry rotted ones from a Coleman Laramie pop up camper we bought. Searched on the internet to determine what to buy and this website came up with advice for another customer and it worked out awesome for us. I just purchased another one to use for the spare tire.
The company followed up with us letting us know when our tires had shipped and when they should be delivered, GREAT customer service.

by:

Ordered 2 trailer tires and wheels for my pop up camper. Looks great and the service I received from George J regarding shipping status was more than expected. I will definitely buy from etrailer again.

by:

really like etrailer.com. these people have great customer service, they are on top of your order. they let you know of any problems or if its on time. my trailer tires came in at a reasonable time and fit perfectly and look good on my old camping trailer. Again the staff over there are awesome and great.

by:

Great company to work with excellent!!!

by:

Installed on pontoon trailer to replace the undersized tires it came with. Have been working well so far. Love the fact that they are rated for highway speeds.

by:

I like the tires, I don’t use the trailer often but they seem to be solid and handle the weight designed for

by:

my choice for selecting etrailer for purchasing this specific tire/rim was the attractive pricing compared to other Vender offers.
I'm glad I ordered through etrailer; the product was shipped within a couple of days and
is a complete match with the already mounted tires on a Golf Course Beverage cart.

by:

delivery was slower than promised, probably due to global shipping issues (Suez Canal blockage, Covid ) Tires & wheels look great, fit as expected...

by:

At first i was upset because i ordered tires and they became out of stock AFTER i ordered them! But i called and spoke to an amazing customer service rep who was more then willing to help me find something that was in stock and could be shipped to me the next day since i needed them by a certain date! He was so awesome and we ended up finding something that would work! Highly recommend etrailer there customer service and shipping is over all amazing!! Will definitely do business with them again!! Plus my tires look great!

by:

Replaced our tires on our pop up camper and took trips all over. These were a fantastic choice and have help up amazingly well. I would definitely buy these all over again.

  • Recommended 205/65-10 Spare Tire for Pop-Up Camper
It sounds like you are looking for a spare tire for your trailer and if that's the case we have some great options. For a trailer with 4-bolt wheels and 10" tires I recommend the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel part # AM3H410. This tire has a 1,320 lb capacity which is just for one side of the trailer, you'd have two tires so the total capacity while using this on both sides would be 2,640 lbs. I have attached a list of our entire wheel/tire selection as well.

  • Is The Hub Pilot Size Important When Using Wheels With Lug Bolts
Thank you for the compliment. Yes, the pilot hole size is very important when the trailer uses lug bolts. That means the wheel is a hub centric wheel instead of a lug centric wheel. The difference is the wheel that is hub centric will center off the pilot hole size and a lug centric wheel will center off of the studs that are on the hub. You are correct the 12 inch wheels do not have the 2.5 inch pilot diameter. The 10 inch wheels with the 4 on 4 bolt pattern are the correct wheel you...

  • How to Determine Correct Replacement Wheel/Tire Combo for 1995 Jayco Pop-Up Camper
The modern tire size for the 20.5 x 8.0-10 tire is 205/65-10. The exact wheel and tire combo you need will depend on the wheel bolt pattern used by your pop-up (4 lug on 4 inch bolt circle, 5 lug on 4-1/2 inch bolt circle or 5 lug on 5-1/2 inch bolt circle) as well as the load rating needed. As long as your current wheel has 4 wheel stud holes the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel part # AM3H370 will be a great choice. Overall it is 20.5" in diameter so a perfect match for what you have and a width of 8.3" so it's 3/16" of an inch wider on each side. This is a load range C tire that gives you 1,100 lbs. of capacity at 50 PSI so it will work great with campers up to 2,200 lbs. since we are using two. The Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel part # AM3H410 will be a great option for this. Maybe. The offset is zero and the backspace for the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire Item # AM3H410 is about or a little less than 4 inches. Another consideration is the width of the tire which is 3-4 inches bigger than your current tires. I am not sure how much your camper weighs but the Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel part # AM3H410 is a good choice so long as the total weight does not exceed 1,320 lbs multiplied by the number of tires you have. If it does then you will need to take a look through our other options which I have attached for you.

This same tire is available on a 10" wheel with a 4-bolt pattern as part # AM3H410. Yes. The Kenda 205/65-10 Bias Trailer Tire with 10" White Wheel - 4 on 4 - Load Range D # AM3H410 is a replacement for the 20.5 x 8.0-10. You are correct. The tire that is included with the Kenda Tire/Wheel Combo, part # AM3H410 should be inflated to 70 psi. At the maximum air pressure, the tires will perform and wear best, and get the best gas mileage.
