Wondered about the order. After seeing your notification on delivery, had to go figure out where they had placed it. Was placed in the cab of the truck. Not a problem, just hadn't been in it for two weeks, and since I am blind in one eye and can't see out of the other, didn't see the delivery sticker on truck window.

Everything appears to be in order. Will put new parts on trailer next week. Oh, this is a two axle, two horse trailer.

Thanks

David T.

Super service and shipping. Part of shipment was lost by UPS and Etrailer made good and shipped me replacement before UPS even completed their review.

Great folks.

Thank you

by:

These were ok at best, two cracked within 9 months of installation requiring additional repair.

by:

I am impressed with the quality and the low price. I talked to some of the local trailer sales people about the same parts and they could not even come close, saying the price from etrailer was less than they could buy the for. The delivery was quick. The parts are heavy duty steel and complete with everything I need. I would not hesitate to purchase from these people again.

Perfect replacement. Everything needed was included

by:

I am completely satisfied dealing with this company; best price, quality merchandise and prompt delivery. I would trust this company with my business, my wife, my whiskey and my money.

  • Placement of Front and Rear Hangers When Building a Tandem Axle Trailer
To determine the location for the front and rear hangers on your tandem axle trailer you will first need to make sure that you have the correct center point for your equalizer hanger. The center point of your equalizer hanger needs to be located where you will have 60 percent of the frame of the trailer in front of the center of the equalizer hanger and 40 percent behind the center of the equalizer hanger. For example, if the trailers frames length is 17 feet, then the center-line location...

  • Replacement Suspension and Brake Parts for a 1973 Bara LS Trailer
Thank you for all of the info! Based on what you told me and the pictures you sent in separately I believe I know what you need. The brakes you need are the Electric Trailer Brake Kit # AKEBRK-35-SA which measure 10" x 2-1/4" and have a 4 bolt flange mounting pattern. I also recommend replacing your hub and drum assemblies as well. For this the Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly # AKHD-545-35-K should work but you will want to verify that your trailer currently uses inner bearing # L68149...

  • Are the Bushings Included in the APT1 Tandem-Axle Hanger Kit for Double-Eye Springs?
The bushings on the 2 long equalizers are included in the # APT1 kit, but the rest of the bushings will typically come included with the leaf springs that are not included in this kit. Which ones you will need to purchase would depend on the diameter sized hole in your leaf spring, if it does not already accommodate the 3/4 inch diameter of the bolts included into this kit. I have linked our bushings as well as the bushing that has a 3/4 inner diameter to this page for your convenience.

  • Why Do Suspension Hanger Kits Have Different Height Hangers
The varying heights of the hangers is all designed so that you end up with the leaf springs as level as possible and still end up a desired distance away from the trailer frame. It may seem odd, but the center hanger will stick down further because the shackle straps that attach to the equalizers make up for the height difference. The equalizer is there so there is movement between the axles going over bumps to help smooth things out. The # APT1 uses a very flat equalizer so to make up...

  • How to Determine Trailer Leaf Spring Hanger Spacing
You can refer to the linked articles on trailer axle spacing and leaf spring suspensions to help you determine where to position your spring hangers on your tandem axle trailer build. Hanger spacing depends on axle placement and axle placement should be determined based on having the trailer's tongue weight in the appropriate 10- to 15-% range. As you work out the design for the trailer, it is best to have the layout of the trailer finalized before placing the axles. This will ensure that...

  • Recommended Tire to Fender and Tire Sidewall to Trailer Frame Clearance
The minimum distance between side wall of the tire and and trailer frame depends on the trailer, you definitely don't want the tire and the trailer to touch so 2" of clearance is a safe distance however you may be able to get away with less as long as they do not touch. The recommended clearance between the top of the tire and the fender is 3-4 inches when the suspension is fully compressed to accommodate for suspension travel.

  • Individual Parts for Trailer Suspension Hanger Kit APT1 without the Hangers
You can get the parts in hanger kit # APT1 separately but not as a kit minus the hangers. The equalizer is # TREQR83. For shackle straps you will need 8 of # 115052. For shackle bolts and nuts you would need 12 of # 166081. For the 3/4 inch wet bolts, pins, nuts, and grease fittings you would need 2 of # 126A1.

  • Installing an Equalizer Hanger and Finding the Location for Mounting
Thank you for the weights but to give you the exact spot I would need the length of your trailer. The center point of your equalizer hanger needs to be located where you will have 60 percent of the frame of the trailer in front of the center of the equalizer hanger and 40 percent behind the center of the equalizer hanger. If you have a 20 foot trailer the center would need to be at the 8 foot point measured from the back, 12 foot point if you measured from the front. I have attached a help...

  • Trailer Suspension Hanger Kit Spacing for a Tandem Axle Trailer
I would need to know the axle capacities to be sure but I can venture an educated guess. The only tandem axle double-eye leaf spring hanger kit we have that includes 8 inch equalizers is # APT1. With this kit, the center of the forward hanger to the center of the rear hanger would be 29-1/2 inches. It is the same from the center hanger to the rear hanger on center. That would make the center to center distance between the 2 axles 34 inches. I have included a picture showing the measurements...

  • Does it Matter Which Way a Double-Eye Trailer Leaf Spring Faces
If they are double-eye leaf springs, it should not matter which way they are facing. But if they are slipper springs, the eye end is at the front and the slipper is at the back. The springs that we carry are not marked as to which end is front and I have seen them either way on a trailer. I have included some links to suspension FAQs for you.

  • Replacement Suspension Components for 1970's Tandem Axle Horse Trailer
We do have replacement parts for your trailer. Starting with the equalizer we have the # TREQR89. It sounds like you have 3-1/8" shackle straps so I recommend the MORryde Suspension Upgrade Kit # MR76ZR. This comes with wet bolts, bronze bushings, and 1/2" thick shackle straps. I believe you're talking about hangers when you gave those shackle dimensions. The closest we have to your front and rear are the # 115918 which are 2-3/8" tall. The closest thing we have to 6-3/4" is the 5-7/16"...

  • Will Trailer Suspension Hanger Kit # APT5 Fit a Trailer with 2-3/8 Inch Diameter Axle
You can use the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # APT5 for your trailer with the 2-3/8 inch axle. A 2-3/8 inch diameter axle is typically found on 3,500 pound axles which is within the range of this kit (2,000 to 7,000 pound axles). The measurements in the chart on the page can be used as a guide. A better option for a 2-3/8 inch axle is kit # APT3, # AP233-H248, or # APT1. It all depends on the axle spacing, spring measurements, and equalizer length.
