We purchased this kit to rebuild an older trailer with worn parts. We received the kit promptly, however, the package was compromised and bolts were missing when it arrived. A quick call and the problem was resolved immediately. Two days later all new bolts appeared on our doorstep. Great company that cares about taking care of its customers. We truly appreciated that and will surely order again very soon as we have several trailers in our fleet.

  • Hanger Kit and Slipper Spring Spacing for Tandem 7,000 lb Axles to Add 16 Inch Wheels
The spacing is going to depend on the size of your tires, so let's start with that. For a 16 inch wheel/tire combo with an 8 on 6-1/2" bolt pattern the best option is a ST235/80R16 size tire with a load range of G to handle the capacity of your trailer. . A ST235/80R16 tire will measure nearly 31 inches in diameter so if your axles centers are spaced 36 inches apart you will have plenty of room. For the slipper springs you were right on with the 5-Leaf Slipper Spring w/ Hook End for 7,000-lb...

  • Will Redline Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit Work With 7-Leaf Slipper Springs
The reference to 4 leaf springs is the quantity of leaf springs the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit, part # AP216-H238. Since it is for a tandem set up you would need to use 4 different leaf springs that are designed for axles up to 8,000 lbs capacity.

  • Recommended 2 Slipper Spring Hanger Kit For Tandem Axle Trailer W/ 5200-7000lb Axles
Slipper springs are pretty common on tandem axle trailers with heavy duty axles like yours, and I recommend sticking with them as there are limited double eye springs for axles 5200lb+ like yours. The Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for 2" Slipper Springs - 13-1/8" Long Equalizers # AP216-H238 you were looking at are a great choice as it includes 5" tall front hangers, 6-3/8" tall rear hangers, and 13-1/8" long equalizers that attach to 4-1/2" tall center hangers so it will be very close...

With 29-1/2 inch leaf springs like the # e46SR that you referenced the axle spacing you'll want to use with the hanger kit part # AP216-H238 would be 35-1/8 inches. You cannot use the over under kits we offer with slipper springs.

  • Hanger Kit Recommendation for use with 29-1/2 Slipper Springs with 7000-lbs Tandem Axles
Yes. You can use the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit # AP216-H238 with your 29.5" Slipper Springs # e39SR; you'll want to make sure that you space your axles 35-1/8" apart (center on center) when assembling your trailer to correctly fit the # SP-161275 springs and the # AP216-H238 hanger kit. The # AP216-H238 kit comes with everything you need to mount your leaf springs including the hangers, equalizers and mounting hardware. You'll want to make sure that the hangers are installed by a...

  • Jack Placement on Tandem-Axle Trailer Changing Flat Tire
If you are asking can you place the jack directly under the equalizer of the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for 2" Slipper Springs, # AP216-H238, I recommend against doing so. I suggest for purpose of lifting the trailer for wheel removal, you go directly to the axle for jack placement or at a designated lift location on the trailer identified by the OEM.

  • Does a Slipper Spring Suspension Use a Bushing on the Slipper End
There is not a bushing on the hangers used on slipper spring trailers. Smaller single axle trailers will have a bolt that runs through the hanger, while some larger and tandem axle trailers will have a welded tube that the spring sits on, but there's no need to use a bushing. If you need to replace your hangers you can use something like the Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for 2" Slipper Springs - 13-1/8" Long Equalizers # AP216-H238 for a tandem axle trailer or the Single-Axle Trailer...

  • Trailer Lift Kit For Stock Trailer
The Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for 2" Slipper Springs # AP216-H238 you referenced is a good option, alternatively, the Torflex Lift Kit # K71-724-02 is another option that is compatible with #11 Torflex axles with 4,100-6,000-lb capacity; And will work as long as your axle uses side mounted brackets, however torsion axles that mount from the top cannot use lift kits. This kit will work as long as your axles do not use 3" tall brackets.

  • Hanger, U-Bolt, and Slipper Spring Kit for 8k Trailer Axles
If you use the Dexter Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for 2" Slipper Springs # HAP-105-205-01 that you referenced you'd end up with a height of 4-7/8 inches between the axle center and the frame of the trailer and 8 inches between the tires for most tire sizes. How that relates to your fender to tire clearance really depends on the location you install the fenders. For an 8k slipper spring that is 2 inches wide we have the etrailer # e37SR that would work really well. The hanger kit part...

  • Slipper Spring and Tandem Axle Hanger Kit Recommendation for a 14k Trailer
Both slipper springs and double eye springs will work just as well as the other as long as they are rated for the weight of the trailer. Typically slipper springs are seen more on the heavier capacity trailers. For an 8k axle rated spring you really only have the option of slipper springs. You would want the # e46SR like you referenced. For a tandem axle hanger kit for use with this spring you would then want the part # AP216-H238.

  • How to Determine Hanger Spacing on a Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit for Slipper Springs
There isn't a specific distance the hangers have to be for hanger kit # AP216-H238. A good place to start is 30-1/2 inches on center but you would only really know by mocking it up on the trailer before permanently installing the hangers. To determine where the center between the 2 axles should be, and then to work and add the hangers from there, you can follow the formula in the picture I have included. Once you know where the center between the 2 axles should be it would just be a matter...

  • Should Bolts be Tightened Down Completely on Leaf Spring Hangers
I definitely recommend pulling the bolts in until the head is flush with the hangers on your trailer's suspension. It's possible everything will work okay as they are now, but to be safe all the bolts should be tightened down completely. Even when tightened down, there will be some necessary movement there, but you will still want it as secure as possible. I have attached a leaf spring installation video that you may also find helpful

  • Hanger Spacing for Tandem-Axle Trailer Hanger Kit AP216-H238 and 29-1/2 Inch Slipper Springs
When using trailer suspension hanger kit # AP216-H238 with spring E5115, # e39SR, the distance from the center of the front hanger to the center of the middle hanger AND the distance from the center of the middle hanger to the center of the rear hanger are both 31 inches. Measurements for hanger kits are approximate and it is recommended to mock up the suspension to get the proper spacing prior to permanent installation.

  • Does a Tandem Axle Trailer Need Equalizers
If your trailer has torsion axles, no worries but it it's a leaf spring suspension you really should have equalizers. Without the equalizer, the trailer will have a rougher ride and the weight won't be balanced across both axles when going over anything other than a flat surface. So potentially if you have 7000 lb trailer going over a bump with 2 , 3500 lb axles. When one axle is temporarily in the "air " the other axle will take on all the weight. That is why you don't see it too often....
