A trailer jack is designed to lift the tongue of your trailer so you can connect the trailer coupler to your hitch ball. To do this, you'll need a jack with a lift capacity high enough to handle your trailer's tongue weight.
Tongue weight is the amount of weight that your trailer applies to the back of your tow vehicle. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. For a trailer this size, you would need a jack with a lift capacity of at least 1,500 lbs.
It's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher lift capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.
Every jack offers a certain amount of lift or travel. Screw travel is the distance the jack extends when you crank it (or toggle it to "extend" on an electric model). Some jacks include a drop leg for extra adjustability. On these jacks, you'll see the maximum extension of the drop leg listed in the specs as well. Adding the screw travel and drop leg travel together will give you the total lift. The total lift listed above can help you determine how high this jack will be able to raise your trailer.

This was supposed to be powder-coated. It was obviously spray painted and done very poorly. There are runs all over it. I think the manufacturer found this lying around and decided to touch it up and ship it. In fact I think they put it in the box still wet with paint. For the extra money made in the USA I was very disappointed. It will be going back and we'll see if the next one has better quality control. The mechanism itself seemed very robust.
like that it is very well made in USA
The Jack was easy to install and etrailer was the only place I could find the right one to fit my very old (1999) tent trailer.
This is great! After 9 months of searching for a replacement jack (and 3 jack circumference sizes that did not work)for our 2004 Viking Epic popup camper, this one fits! Its perfect! Thank you! Very happy!
it has been doing fine with no problem
Once I modified my camper tongue, the jack fit and operated flawlessly.
I would only say that the retracted "up" position of the jack does NOT have enough ground clearance , absent the wheel, to guarantee there is NO contact with concrete when entering/exiting a sloped concrete driveway.
Most 1000 lb jacks are too wide for older camper trailers like mine. This was the only option i could find with a diameter of 2 inches! Took some elbow greasr, but once it went in the rest was easy and the included hardware worked very well. I would recommend adding 3-6 washers as they're not included and make a difference. It cranks clean and smooth! Great product so far. Customer service was very active and helpful in making sure I got what I needed and there were no issues. Odelia was very helpful! Thank you etrailer!
Exactly what I needed super easy to ins tall.
The trailer jack was easy to install and works great. The removable foot is very convenient.
Does whats its supposed to.
Unfortunately my initial search for a replacement for the Atwood Model 80274 suggested the Pro Series 2000 LB jack. But trying to install that jack I found it was too big. However talking directly to customer service they were able to direct me to thing model jack which was a direct replacement that I needed. They took back the wrong jack with no problems.
This was a good replacement for the original on our vintage camper. Pretty simple - just used a grinder to remove the welded on old one, and bolts to attach the new.
Once again, etrailer impresses me. Ordered my jack stand on Friday and it arrived on Saturday. What great service!
The trailer jack for Our old (1996) tent trailer was received in a timely manner in good condition. It was easy to install and appears to work well. Very easy to operate and good instructions were included.
This jack is the perfect fit for our trailer with a 2" hole. etrailer.com had all the details listed (not like other sites) so that I could purchase with confidence. Strong jack with lock on (pin) wheel. etrailer.com is my new go to site for trailer needs.
*Although I have not installed the trailer jack yet it looks like a direct replacement for the original one on my boat trailer. The wheel that goes with the jack definitely looks like a better fit than original.
*The electrical 4 conductor plug set... I'm using for a quick disconnect for a third
( center ) brake light for tailgaters
Quality product that fit perfectly! I am a frequent customer of etrailer and am always satisfied.
This trailer Jack has all the capacity and lift height I need. It cranks easy, has a nice finish and in my opinion, of good quality.
Great company to deal with.
Exactly what I was looking for. A jack that has a 2-inch outer diameter.
The service was great. It shipped quickly and I received what I ordered. The product seems heavy duty as I was expecting. The action of the jack feels appropriate and only time will tell if I truely got what I paid for. I haven't had a chance to try raising the trailer while it was loaded to really know if it is truely the heavy duty jack that I needed. I will keep this email message and try to remember to let you know how I feel about your merchandise. Thank you for your interest.
