Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

Installation was straight forward and no issues. Follow the instructions and you are all set.

This hitch does locate the receiver tube below the bumper facia so it is about 3-4 inches lower than a factory receiver which should be considered when choosing the ball hitch drop. Would recommend a zero drop or even a 1-2 inch rise to put the ball about the right height. But overall a positive review.

Holy heavy duty!! I went with Draw-Tite because I wanted the extra tongue and towing capacity. This thing is built super tough and exceeded my build quality expectations. I had it installed and torqued to the recommended xx lbs. within minutes. It comes with large fender washers to use as spacers if needed but I didn’t need them myself as it was a snug fit. You will definitely need to lower the full size spare tire for room to work and it will be a close fit once you crank it back up. I had to crank the tire 90% of the way up then push the tire as far forward as it would go to clear the hitch as you will see in the pics. I purchased and also installed the anti-rattle cover and wire connector mounting plate for the finishing touch. I would recommend this hitch and the accessories to anyone!

The Hitch worked great on my 08 Grand Cherokee and installed easy with the help of the videos. This hitch is built very well and looks like it could pull a train!! You definately need to lower your spare tire to install if you have a full size spare in order to install the hitch. When you crank the spare tire back into position the hitch just barely clears the tire but its not touching so youre all good!

2006 Jeep Commander

I installed the hitch and wiring kit in less than an hour by myself. It went together flawlessly. I would highly recommend etrailer to anyone looking for a high quality hitch or accessories!

by:

I recently ordered and installed this product from etrailer. It seems very sturdy and well built. Etrailer was excellent to deal with, with an email on the status of my order about 15 minutes after placing it. Install was just a matter of dropping the spare tire and tightening four bolts. It does seem as if the hitch should have just a little more drop to it as it does pull on the bumper slightly but not noticeable unless you crouch and look at it. Overall excellent experience with etrailer and this product.

Jeep

This Hitch bolted up fairly effortlessly. With my Jeep the rear cross member had a seam that seamed to have some built up weld on it or something that didn't quite let the washers, that came with the kit as shims, to work. Would have been nice to have some sort of clip on shim instead of the washers this would have been easier than trying to tape them in place. Over all my review is very positive, took me all of 30 minutes to install it. Got the wiring harness on order as well.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The service from etrailer is the best, bar none! Too bad you don’t sell insurance!

The Drawtite receiver is good quality with good install instructions and includes everything you need. The tools needed are a 19 mm socket and a torque wrench. I watched the etrailer install video and followed it verbatim alongside the tq settings in the included instructions. I coupled this receiver with Curt 4 pole wire harness ( non oem towing pkg) and it compliments the receiver nicely mis. I chose this receiver as I like the safety chain connection points better than the CURT option and so far it works well on the Girlfriends 2009 Jeep Grand Cherokee towing her boat.

Jeep Commander

every thing about the hitch installation is correct went very fast and was super easy. The only thing that I would like to point out is the removal of the standard J tow hook that comes stock with teh commander. You have to remove the cross brace for the J hook. The cross brace ties driectly into the rear frame where the tow hitch needs to go. The bolt that you need to take out has to be removed from the BUMPER SIDE that is the very rear end. You can not remove the nut because the nut is welded onto the cross brace.

by:

Receiver arrived fast in a Heavy Duty very secure cardboard box. Hefty piece of steel with quality welds and nice thick paint job. Made In Mexico if that matters. Installation went smoothly, just as their online videos instructions presented. This DIY'er is Super Pleased!

2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Just installed the hitch on my 2010 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo. Fit great and was relatively easy to install. I installed by myself and had almost no trouble, very straightforward. The only issue is that the plastic rivet clips on the bumper won't line up to be reattached to the frame after the job was done. This however really poses no problem, the bumper is secure against the hitch even without the rivets and does NOT rattle, and looks just as it did prior to the job.

by:
2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Easy install as I didn't have tow hooks that needed to be removed. I was able to install it solo in about a 1/2 hour. The bumper fascia touches the hitch slightly but not an issue at all.

by:

Probably the easiest hitch to install. The video provided on the website explained things very well. Shipping was very fast as well.

by:
2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Super strong receiver and with the video instructions from etrailer installation went without a hitch, pun intended.

by:

nice trailer hitchtrailer hitch looks more heavy duty than I thought it would be install took about 45 minutes but its winter in its cold

by:

This hitch was very easy to install with an extra set of hands to pull the plastic bumper out while putting the hitch in place. Had it completely installed in about 10 minutes.

by:

Installation was easy and hitch has great appearance. It took about 40 mins to install and installation instructions were very helpful.

Everything came in on time, nicely packaged and easy to install.
My husband and 6 year old son installed the hitch in about 15 minutes without having to remove the bumper.

Very simple product. Directions were very clear. My car did not come with a hitch which was frustrating so I was happy to find such a convenient solution. Also, everything came on time or earlier ( ordered two products). All in all, I’m very happy with my purchases.

  • 2006 Jeep Commander Trailer Hitch, Brake Controller, and Weight Distribution Recommendation
On your 2006 Jeep Commander you will need to start with a 4-way (if you do not have one). For that you would want the # 118408. From there you would need to convert the 4-way to a 7-way so that you can install the brake controller. For that you will want the Brake Controller Install Kit and 7-Way Adapter part # ETBC7. I attached installation instructions and an install video for this product as well. For a brake controller I would recommend the Prodigy P2 Brake Controller part # 90885....

Thank you for your recent orders for Draw-Tite hitch # 75338 and wiring for your 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee. All of the trailer hitches we offer include the hardware specified by the manufacturer's engineers. This is rarely (if ever) stainless steel. Hitch hardware is usually Grade 5 which provides both the shear strength and tensile strength needed to enable the hitch to meet its specifications when installed on a compatible vehicle. This hardware is given an anti-corrosive treatment so...

  • Trailer Hitch and Trailer Wiring Harness Recommendation for 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
For your 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee, I'd recommend the Draw-Tite Class III hitch, part # 75338 which is a fit for a V8 equipped Grand Cherokee as long as it's NOT and SRT8. None of our vendors offer a hitch fit for SRT 8 models as the rear bumper/fascia is different. The hitch has a 750 lb tongue weight/ 5000 lb towing capacity which goes up to 750/7500 if weight distribution is used. This is the highest weight-rated hitch we offer for your 2005 Grand Cherokee. If your Grand Cherokee has...

  • Will Draw-Tite 75338 Fit a 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Rocky Mountain Edition
Yes, the Draw-Tite, part # 75338, will fit your Rocky Mountain Edition Grand Cherokee. You will need to allow more time for installation. Some models, like the Rocky Mountain Edition, can include a rear tow hook that would interfere with the hitch. This being the case, you will need to remove the hook. The instructions speak to this, so I have included a link to the instructions below.

  • Recommended Trailer Hitch For A 2010 Jeep Commander
For your 2010 Jeep Commander I recommend the Draw tite class 3 hitch # 75338 . This has a 2" receiver and is rated for towing up to 5,000 lbs. The tongue weight capacity is 750 lbs, making the strongest hitch available for your vehicle. Installation will be very easy. You really will not find an easier install for a trailer hitch. 4 bolts and that is it. If you plan to tow a trailer, I also recommend the 4-flat wiring harness # 118408, if trailer wiring is not already present on the vehicle....

  • How to Pick Out a Hitch for a 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee to Tow a 26 ft Trailer
Depends on the trailer. If the 26 foot trailer you plan on towing weighs less than 3,000 lbs then a hitch with that capacity would be adequate. You should note that if you are talking about traditional trailer towing you would need a hitch for the rear of your 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee, the Curt Hitch part # C31047 that you referenced is a front hitch that installs on the front of your vehicle and would not be what you would need. You would want something like the Draw-Tite part # 75338....

I can certainly point out everything you will need to tow the boat with your 2008 Jeep Commander. First, you will need a hitch. There are several available but I recommend going with a Class III hitch rated for weight distribution because you never know what you might be towing in the future. I would go with Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch, # 75338. This is a Class III, 2 inch trailer hitch, capable of 500 pounds tongue weight capacity and 5,000 pounds gross trailer weight. You will not need to cut the bumper fascia. You will need to pull the fascia rearward about one inch to raise the hitch into position. I have included links to the instructions and to a video that shows installation of this hitch on a similar vehicle.
