Recommended Trailer Wiring and Hitch for 2007 Jeep Commander Sport Rocky Mountain Edition

Question:

I have a Rocky Mountain Edition. The tow harness says it fits all except that, why? Do you know what I would need?

The Tekonsha T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118408 referenced in your question is confirmed to fit your 2007 Jeep Commander Sport Rocky Mountain Edition. There is not a fit exclusion with this particular trim package. The harness will work perfectly. It will install by plugging into factory ports behind the driver and passenger side tail lights to provide you with a 4-Way connector to power a trailer's basic signal lights.

I have attached an installation video that you can use for reference.

If by chance you meant a trailer hitch in your question, we do have the Curt Class III # 13414 that is listed as a fit for the Jeep Commander except for the Rocky Mountain Edition. I called and spoke with my contact at Curt and he said that this has to do with the full size spare tire under the vehicle, which is unique to the Rocky Mountain Edition. The larger tire prevents this particular hitch from fitting properly.

For a hitch that is confirmed to fit your Rocky Mountain Edition I recommend the Draw-Tite Class III # 75338. This will use existing holes in the Jeep's frame for a no-drill installation and provide you with a 2 inch opening and has a 5,000 pound towing capacity.

I have attached an installation video on the 2008 model that you can use for reference.
