Draw-Tite Class III vs OEM Class IV Hitch for a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Question:
I have a question about the Draw-Tite for the 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I have looked a specs for both the Draw-Tite as well as the OEM version of the hitch for the Jeep Grand Cherokee. The numbers are all very close, but the Draw-Tite is listed as a Class III hitch and the OEM is listed as Class IV. Is there any differences here that I would need to worry about with the Draw-Tite?

The biggest and realistically the most important difference between a Class III and IV hitch would be the capacities. They both have 2 inch openings and the same accessories can be used between the two. Typically Class IV hitches will have higher capacities than a Class III hitch. I attached an FAQ on hitch classifications for you to check out also.
For your situation the only actual difference between the Draw-Tite part # 75338 you referenced and the OEM hitch you are also considering will be the capacities the two have and maybe the price. If it were my money I would go with the better priced hitch since the capacities are so similar.
I attached an install video for this hitch for you to check out.
