Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite Tested Tough

Draw-Tite's Tested Tough program provides testing standards far superior to those outlined by the Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE), the go-to source for engineering professionals.

Each Draw-Tite trailer hitch receiver undergoes extensive fatigue testing and static testing with the ball mount that is either supplied or recommended for use with that particular hitch, thus ensuring results that are applicable to real life use. Fatigue testing is also conducted on hitches rated for use with weight-distribution systems.

In addition, Draw-Tite performs static testing on a simulated automobile, as opposed to the rigid fixture used for SAE testing, resulting in a more true-to-life scenario.

High quality hitch receiver installed on our base model 2007 Honda Fit on 06/06/2023 to mount a bicycle carrier.
I used the following items: Ramps, Locktite (thread locking compound), Torque Wrench, 12mm socket (to remove Honda factory bolts), 13mm socket (for the Draw-Tite M8 bolts), 14mm deep well socket (for the U-bolt nut nuts), rachet and extension, bucket (to put on top of etrailer box to hold receiver up while attaching fasteners).
I relocated the specification decal to the top of the receiver because it was blocking one of the hitch pin holes.
I did reinstall the Honda factory skid shield because that is what the Draw-Tite instructions specify.
It takes about 1 hour if you work slowly.
The instructions indicated that an 11/16 wrench was needed but I encountered no fasteners of that size.

Excellent very happy with it, plug and play basically would definitely recommend.

2008 Honda Fit

We had it really easy and had a lift in our garage to get the Honda Fit up off the ground and above us. The installation with air tools took MAYBE 20 minutes and is extremely easy. Hitch looks nice and hidden and I am very happy with the fit and finish. Would buy again.

Hello Rush, What trailer hitch did you install? Class 1?

Patrick B.

6/18/2013

Yes, he installed the hitch on this page. The Draw-Tite Class I, part 24776, custom built for the 2007-2008 Honda Fit.

2007 Honda Fit

Right From the start, I'd like to say I am very pleased with my hitch and the purchasing experience. The site is easy to navigate and has absolutely everything. My hitch, Curt T-connector harness, and accessories were well packaged and arrived promptly. The install was super simple and fast. The actual hitch assembly is well built, fit cleanly, and included well written instructions and high quality hardware. It attached to easy to access mounting points used by the factory skid/bash plate.

The harness was plug-n-play and only required the removal of two philips head screwes and popping some trim clips. I did not have to remove the two large interior panels on either side of the hatch. I simply loosened them enough to pass the harness behind and popped the panels immediately back down. I finished plugging the connections through the lightbulb replacement access panels.

I am using this hitch with my 2007 Honda Fit sport to tow a small trailer holding tires, tools, and spare parts to track events. I chose this hitch because it was slightly lighter than some others. It added 16lbs Including hardware. That's not light; but, the mass is low and to the rear of an already front heavy vehicle. I also choose not to reinstall the factory bash/skid plate. The hitch hangs just as low as it did and is much stronger. I saw no reason to add another 5lbs back on.

This hitch does cover and mount to your factory rear tow-hook that's sometimes used to jack up the rear of the car. However, I do not see this as an issue, again because the hitch is well built and well attached through three chassis points. The safety chain hoops are easy for a tow-truck to attach too and the large mounting footprint makes me trust this hitch for lifting or pulling more than I did the factory location.

Thanks eTrailer

2007 Honda Fit

I've always just thrown my bike into the back of my 2007 Honda Fit, but I recently got a bike trailer for my dog (rookie mistake, it doesn't fold down so it takes up a lot of space) and plan on doing some weekend bike camping trips so there just wasn't enough room for my bike. The solution for me was to finally get a bike rack, which meant getting a hitch.

This hitch was fairly easy to install albeit intimidating. I purchased a beam torque wrench at Sears and watched a YouTube video on how to use it.

I did what other reviewers suggested and used the box the hitch came in to hold it in place while I bolted it in. Worked Perfectly! Was able to do it without raising the car...however it did make seeing the dial on the torque wrench a little challenging. Using deep socket attachments would probably have made it a little less challenging too.

It took less than an hour...and is literally so simple to install. Assembling Ikea furniture is more challenging.

Easy install on 2007 Honda Fit Sport. No drilling required to install this hitch. Works well for hauling my fat tire bike.

2008 Honda Fit

This transaction was seamless from start-to-finish. Online ordering was a snap, just take your time and insure you are getting the right thing for your EXACT model.
The order confirmation and shipping notice were emailed right on time with the tracking link, which worked perfectly.
Packaging was great, with the box with hand-holes for easy carrying. Contents were 100 percent.
Installing the hitch itself was a piece of cake. There was only one problem as the Tool List called for an 11/16ths wrench and it should have been NINE SIXTEENTHS.
The only thing I needed was an empty 1-gallon paint can to support the front of the hitch while I got the U-Bolt in place. Once that was done it was a simple matter to finish the job.
So all around a very positive thing.. Now if the Wiring Harness that I bought is as easy as the hitch……
Here's a photo of the finished installation under our 2008 Honda Fit Sport.

Installed on my 2007 Fit Sport, its a sturdy hunk of steel! Parts bag was missing one small part, a quick call to etrailer and they had one sent out to me immediately. Although I would have preferred it to not be missing, their customer service is 5 stars if you do have a problem. Will be using it with the recommended cargo carrier and a Rhode Gear highway 4 bike rack (both fit great) TIP: save the box it ships in, place the hitch on top of the box and slide it under the car, then you can tilt the hitch into position one handed. Install is a breeze, I was concerned about the clearance around the Fit Sport trim, but as you can see from the pics it is not a problem. wish I had installed it years ago...

It looks great and my friend who installed the hitch tells me it was easy. My bike rack is back in service and I can’t wait to try it out!

Easy to follow instructions and bolt on installation. Good product. Adds a little more versatility to my Honda Fit.

There are very few ways to put a bike rack on the back of a Honda Fit. This hitch fits perfectly, had clear instructions and was easy to install. etrailer is always dependable for great stuff at great prices; this is no exception.

Product was exactly as advertised, which is good. Simple installation: remove 3 bolts and the existing skidplate and re-use the same holes to install the hitch receiver. Took 15 minutes with a lift. Would've taken longer if the old bolts were frozen, but they weren't. Solid product.

Using the trailer hitch several times a month for a bike rack. Works perfectly.

by:

Delivered as promised. My only issue was removing one stubborn rusted bolt from the skid shield. Other than that, install was a breeze. Ordered for hitch mount bike rack. So far so good.

7/27/2017

A good hitch with no issues after a year. However, note that hitch mounts on small cars will require some adjustment. Weight and size of two standard mountain bikes will reduce already low ground clearance on my Honda Fit. Distance from bike tire to the pavement is less than 9 when loaded depending on what else I need to bring on a short trip.

by:

It was very easy to install. The arm that holds the ball I was really beat up like it looked used the hitch itself looked all right everything was easy to read and understand

I used this hitch for my 2008 Honda Fit in order to give my vehicle some extra cargo space for camping gear using a cargo carrier I purchased with this hitch (Curt Cargo Carrier C18110). It works great, and was really easy to install, installation took about 20 minutes. I have used it for a variety of uses outside of camping; moving, yard projects, etc, and has worked great. I have only used this hitch with a cargo carrier, I never hauled a trailer with it because of the limitations of my vehicle, but it worked great for what I needed it for.

2008 Honda Fit

The hitch has been working perfectly since installed a year ago. Handles two FJs (sailing dinghies) on their trailer no problem.

When removing the bolts on the factory installed skid plate make sure you apply even force. I used a torque wrench and ended up snapping one. Putting the car on a jack and using an impact driver would be best.

After that, the install was simple. Directions were easy to follow.

Draw Tite makes a good product which looked to have much cleaner welds than the cheapest hitch offered by etrailer, for only a few dollars more. The 2007 Honda Fit has a sub assembly under the hatch which Draw Tite utilized for the mounting of their hitch, which made it particularly fast and easy to install-it took me less than 30 minutes, and I didn't need to jack the car up to do so.

Last week I had occasion to haul a 500# loaded trailer with my new hitch 120 miles, including over a mountain pass. The hitch performed flawlessly. I can recommend the Draw Tite hitch for the 2007 Honda Fit.

by:

Very happy; was easy to install and fit perfectly.
Just because I am a total perfectionist: One conical grip washer was missing from the package; no, I didn't loose it. The directions did not explain that the big clunky part was the skid plate, which was already on my car, which I had to take off and then but back on; had me scratching my head for 5 min.s; and the u-bolt didn't align perfectly with the holes in the hitch; I had to figure out a way to bend it just a tad without destroying the threads; got it done. The U bolt is also a bit longer than it needs to be.
BUT I am 100% happy.

This is the best hitch reciever for the Honda Fit. Easy installation and tows my trailer like a boss. A side note, the bolts I received for this hitch was stripped and called customer service. They asked me for my infomation and sent the bolts in less than a couple of days. Thank you!!

The trailer hitch I installed with no help .fairly easy install.,remove three bolts discard them install hitch plus skid bump pad that was already there. Use 3 supplied bolts tighten and bam done plus small U shaped bolt that goes thru pulling pont and thru hitch tighten .

  • Trailer Hitch that Fits 2007 Honda Fit Base Model
For your 2007 Honda Fit base model we have the Draw Tite hitch part # 24776 as a confirmed fit but the Curt # C11058 is not a fit for the non-Sport models. For trailer wiring too you'd need the part # 118420. Then for a ball mount # 3593 and hitch balls # 19256 for a 1-7/8 inch ball or part # 19258 for a 2 inch ball.

For Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24776 for your 2007 Honda Fit Sport there isn't a specific recommendation for anti-seize products for the installation hardware. Loctite # LT37616 would work fine. But if you are talking about thread locker then there is just one thing to consider: how difficult do you want it to be to remove the hardware? If you use blue Loctite # LT37643 then the hardware can still be removed using hand tools. But if you use red Loctite # LT37420 then power tools would have...

  • Trailer Hitch for a 2008 Honda Fit Sport to Use a Bike Carrier with 2 Inch Shank
All of the trailer hitches for the 2008 Honda Fit are Class I hitches with 1-1/4 inch receivers. This is a reflection of the ability of the vehicle; it isn't designed to tow or carry heavy loads so higher Class hitches are not made for it. The only way to carry the bike rack would be to use a trailer hitch # 24776 and an adapter, # HTAD. The adapter will convert the 1-1/4 inch receiver to a 2 inch. However, using an adapter reduces the tongue weight capacity of the hitch by 50 percent....
