Note: Always replace your struts in pairs, where applicable. Most liftgates have a strut on each side. Failure to replace both struts can result in a warped or damaged hinge.
Gas Strut with Exceptional Stability
Most gas struts consist of a tube filled with pressurized nitrogen gas, a piston, and rod. The Atlas Lift strut, however, has a dynamic damping groove inside the tube that regulates gas movement across the piston. This ensures your liftgate stays open when you want it open and shuts slowly without bouncing or slamming. Lastly, in contrast to struts that only have gas in the chamber, a few drops of oil have been mixed in to help seal the piston and lubricate the rod. This allows your liftgate to move more smoothly as the rod travels in and out of the tube.

Hello, everybody. This is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today we're gonna take a look at the Atlas Lift Custom Fit Hatch lift Support Gas Strut. Now, this part here is a custom fit part. It is designed to fit the 1988 to 1991 Honda Civics, and the 1982 to 1985 Nissan Sentra. And on custom fit part like this, I do recommend for you to go to our website, use the fit guide, put in your year and model of vehicle, and it'll show you if this will work for your application.
Now basically, this will replace one worn damaged ball and socket gas strut for your vehicle's hatch. Basically, the arm on the gas strut will extend to hold your hatch open and gently compress while it's closing. The dampening technology provides a nice, smooth operation, eliminates bouncing or jumping, and ensures a nice, frictionless movement in all weather conditions. The shaft itself is a nitride coated steel shaft. It is corrosion resistant for long-lasting performance.
And the powder coated tube is for superior corrosion resistance. It does install in minutes, no special tools acquired. The nylon ball and socket connectors on each end will install directly to your existing OEM fittings that are on your vehicle. They do include also these two ball studs that you can install, and then install this onto those. Basically, to remove the strut, all you have to do is pry up this clip.
Once you pry that clip up, you can remove the old strut from the ball. And then, to install this new strut, all you have to do is line up the socket over the ball and then push it into place, and the clip will automatically pop in there and hold it in place. Now, this must be installed in the same position as the one which was removed. And we do recommend to replace these gas stuts in pairs. A few specs, again, the quantity comes with one lift support and the two ball studs.
The connection type, again, is a ball socket. The length on this, if we measure from the center, this is fully extended. So, if we measure from the center of this ball socket to the center of this one, let me get my tape measure, we can measure it for you. That's gonna measure right at 25 inches. And the compressed length, when it's fully compressed, is gonna be 15 and three quarter inches. But that should do it for the review on the Atlas Lift Custom Fit Hatch Lift Support Gas Strut.
