Trailer hitch and Bike Rack Recommendations for a 2008 Honda Fit Sport

Question:

I have a 2008 Honda Fit Sport and wand to purchase a bike rack. The space on top of the car is taken so Ill need a hitch rack. I think because its a sport model a rack that fits on the hatch wont work. Do you have a recommendation on what products I would need to make this happen? I currently dont have a hitch attached to the car. Thanks!

For your 2008 Honda Fit Sport I recommend Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 24776. This, and all hitches for the Fit, is a Class I hitch. This means that the bike carrier used must be rated for use with a Class I hitch and you are limited to carrying 2 bikes maximum.

For a compatible bike carrier I recommend the Swagman Trailhead, # S63360. It is Class I compatible, can tilt, has anti-sway cradles, and a rise in the shank for greater ground clearance. I have linked a video review of this carrier for you.

If you will be carrying any bikes that do not have a top frame bar that goes straight across (like a typical men's bike would) then I recommend using bike adapter bar # 64005. This will allow you to carry those bikes more level and will provide better ground clearance. I have to use these adapters and without them my wife's bike would be at a severe angle and I would not be able to load my son's bike at all. I have linked a video showing how the adapter works.
