Video Transcript for Tow Ready Hitch Ball - Trailer Hitch Ball - 63849 Review

Today we'll be taking a look at part number 63849. This is the Hidden Hitch Hitch Ball with the two inch diameter and a long shank rated at 7500 pounds. The diameter of our shank is one inch and the length of our shank is three and three eights of an inch. This does have a really nice chrome finish. The lock washer and the knot is included and again it has a capacity of 7500 pounds and comes with a limited lifetime warranty. Now we'll going to show you how this installs. This is going to fit drawbars or ball mounts with one to two inch thickness.

We'll go ahead and place that through the hole, place on our lock washer and go ahead and thread on the knot. Now you want to be sure that you do to work it down to the specifications recommended by the manufacturer. It also has these nice wrench holds here on the side so that way you can grip it while you work it down. That will complete today's review of part number 63849, the Hidden Hitch Hitch Ball with a two inch diameter and long shank rated at 7500 pounds. .

only ball that would fit the stock Tacoma bumper. shank length and diameter are perfect. for light trailering this allows me to get away without an add on frame hitch.

Paula was a great help putting my order together. Shipping was fast and quality of products was outstanding. I have ordered all my trailer towing items from e trailer and will continue doing so. Thanks again Richard

by:

I haven't towed with this yet, but it fit well and had a shank long enough for my tow bar and sway bar plate. I could not find one like this locally, but e-trailer came through.

I ordered and received two 2" hitch balls with long shanks, which I found difficult to find in stores. Both hitch balls are of good quality, priced reasonably, and even with shipping I was happy with the order and final costs. Items packaged well, received in perfect condition, and received ahead of seller committment. I have had perfect experience with all orders from this seller. Highly recommend.

Yesthe hitch ball is of excellent quality. We use it ONE day per year only to pull trolleys on the 4th of July in Seward. It should last 100 years. Happy with the product. Brad

I couldn't believe how fast the hitch ball arrived after it was ordered! I needed a ball with a long shank (3 3/8") to fit my 2011 Chevrolet Silverado pickup, and local stores did not carry it. I was really pleased when I found it at etrailer.com. I will be using it to pull a wood splitter.

It works well.

by:

Just the right product for my existing hitch on used truck that I bought. I had a bit of difficulty finding hitch ball with the right length shaft until I found etrailer. This ball fits perfectly in chrome finish looks great. The rated load capacity should serve well for anything my half ton truck will pull.

fast shipping and as described

Great service and reasonable price.

by:

This hitch ball is exactly what I’ve been looking for! I needed a ball with a shank long enough to fit in the bumper of my 2010 Ram 2500 that would make it easier to move smaller trailers without the need to change receiver hitch and this is perfect for that location. ETrailer is the only place I shop for our trailer needs.

by:

I needed a 3 inch trailer Chrome trailer ball with a 3 inch shank; impossible to find at a local parts store in FL in my local area. So I fired up the computer and let google do the searching and I read the reviews and checked the prices. etrailer was hands down consistently in the top 3 among all of the different sites I checked for prices, quality, customer service and delivery. They did not disappoint me! My 2 inch bChrome ball was here less than a week after I ordered it, installed easily with supplied lock washer and nut, noting could be easier! Great people, product and service!

by:

I have a dodge 3500 Dually Diesel and i needed this ball for my bumper. ON these trucks they do not come with a standard under the bumper slide in hitch. it only comes with a bumper hole for a hitch. This was the only place that had a long enough shaft to install on my truck.

by:

I needed an extra length shank on a trailer hitch ball to fit the bumper mount on my 2007 Tacoma. Etrailor was the only supplier that I found that had it. I placed my order and promptly received the product. It is exactly what I needed and should do exactly what I need it to do.

by:

Looks like the picture and dimensions are same as in the description. Plan to tow camper trailer and off-road vehicles. Obviously, can't tow without a ball on the hitch and it meets weight requirement of the vehicle.

by:

It's hard to find a ball with a 3+ inch shank, which I needed in order to go all the way through the bumper hitch of my T100. Additionally, i placed my order late at night and was able to call in the morning directly on the phone and change my order before it shipped. That is EXCELLENT service.

by:

Purchased the 63849 hitch ball 2x1x3-1/4 so I could put the Reese sway control bracket on, works great with the long shank with extra threads, much safer.

by:

Fits my application perfectly, looked everywhere for this hitch ball in my town but
came up empty. Found it quite easily at etrailer.com 2"ball diameter 3"long shank
at 1" diameter. Chrome and looks nice. Thanks guys at etrailer, service is top notch.

by:

received the hitch ball 3 days after ordering. the purchased item was just as described and easily mounted upon the hitch. service and follow up phone calls were appreciated.

by:

This was a very good buying experience. I needed a extra long shanked trailer ball. One phone call to a very professional sales lady did the trick at a great price and she followed up with tracking and delivery confirmation...oh, and the item is of great quality and better than expected. Will definitely be a return customer.

I had a lot of trouble finding what I needed and then I saw etrailer.com.
Really fast shipping and top quality merchandise at a surprisingly low cost.
Man if these guys don't have it, you probably don't really need it. LOL
Seriously.......I Highly Recommend them for all your 'trailering' needs.
Dale

Fits perfect, I have been looking all over the place locally for a trailer ball with the longer shaft as a standard length shaft was too short for my truck and I was unable to thread on the nut and washer on the bottom. This 3 inch shaft works perfect, plenty of extra length if needed. Excellent product !!

  • Height from Base to Top of Tow Ready Hitch Ball
The Hitch Ball with 2" Diameter and 3-1/4" Long Shank, 7,500 lbs GTW # 63849 is approximately 2-3/4 inches from the base to the top of the ball. The shank is 3-1/4 inches long and has a 1 inch diameter, which is smaller than most pintle hitches accept, though if that's what yours is then it will work for you! • Inexpensive Light Duty Ball Mount Recommendation for 3 Inch Receiver on 2020 Ford F-250
If you're going to tow anything at highway speeds for any distance, It really is important that you get the drop of the ball mount within an inch or so of level, or you'll get trailer sway which isn't super fun. I'll link to an article that shows how to measure for the correct drop ball mount. I'd recommend using Curt # C45408 hitch reducers (one to reduce the 3 inch receiver to a 2-1/2, and another to reduce the 2-1/2 to a 2 inch) along with a relatively inexpensive adjustable ball mount...

Although both receivers would work great on your vehicle, I always recommend choosing a Class III with a 2 inch receiver opening over the Class II with the 1-1/4 inch opening whenever the option is available. The more common Class III 2 inch receiver will provide a better selection of hitch mounted accessories like bike racks or cargo carriers. If you...

None of the hitch balls we offer are going to have a 6 inch long threaded shank on them. The longest available is 3-3/8 like the part # 63849 that you referenced.
