Can Hopkins Wiring Harness for 2013 Subaru Outback be Stored in Hatch When Not in Use

thanks for your speedy response to my previous question about the Hopkins wiring harness for my 2013 Subaru Outback. I have a “ Hidden Hitch” trailer hitch (purchased from y'all of course) already mounted on the car. Any special requirements as to a ball mount for this hitch and what ball mount do you recommend? Thanks again

You can absolutely store the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness # HM11143865 in the hatch of your 2013 Subaru Outback when you aren't using it instead of routing it outside the vehicle. The connector end will be long enough to hang outside your hatch when you need to connect it to your trailer.

If you also need a trailer hitch receiver for your 2013 Outback I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13410.

Thanks for your continued business and it looks like you have the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75673 on your 2013 Subaru Outback. There aren't any special requirements for a ball mount for your hitch, but I can tell you how to go about determining the correct ball mount with just a couple measurements. First, make sure both your Outback and trailer are parked on level ground; you'll then want to measure from the ground to the top of the inside of your hitch receiver (when we installed this hitch on a '13 Outback we found the measurement to be 14-1/4"). Next, measure from the ground to the bottom of your trailer's coupler and find the difference between the two measurements. Based on the 14-1/4" measurement and the average coupler height of between 17" and 20" I recommend the following options, depending on the exact measurement you get: - 2" Rise: Curt Class III Drawbar - 2" Rise - 4" Drop # C45270 with either 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # C40017 or 2" Hitch Ball # 63849 and Pin and Clip # C21500 or Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880 - 2-3/4" Rise: etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" Hitches - 2-3/4" Rise or 4" Drop # 989892 (comes with 1-7/8" and 2" hitch balls along with pin and clip but you can add Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880) - 4: Rise: Curt Ball Mount for 2" Hitches - 4" Rise, 6" Drop # C45070 with either 1-7/8" Hitch Ball # C40017 or 2" Hitch Ball # 63849 and Pin and Clip # C21500 or Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # e98880
