Video Transcript for Erickson Ratchet Tie-Down w/ Twisted Snap Hooks Review

Today we're going to be taking a look at the Ericsson ratchet tie down strap with the twisted style snap hooks. This comes in a 15 foot length, straps an inch and a half wide, part number on it is EM51324. This heavy-duty strap has been designed with the twist hook style, it's a flat piece of metal, but they twist out to make a hook. Makes is very easy to connect into your truck or to your trailer. They've got the keepers, they're going to come down, help to hold that in place so we don't have to worry about chasing those side to side. The straps themselves are very heavily stitched, it's going to give us a nice secure connection point there and all of our metal surfaces have been coated with a corrosion resistant material.

They've got built-in catches, you can see there to stop it from opening all the way until we lift up on our lever so we can finally release it. They have a safe working load limit of 1,333 pounds and a break limit of 4,000 pounds. Now let's secure our load here, we'll take our twisted hook and place it right over our connection point there, do the same thing with the other side, get it connected where we want to hold our rig. We'll then bring the tag in through the middle slot there in the ratchet, loop it back around and start feeding it out of the other side here. It's just a real easy process, we'll pull up our slack, once we've got that taken out, a couple pulls on that, as you can see that's nice and tight. Now that we've got our excess strap secure we'll make our way around to the other three corners, get everything secured and we can get heading down the road. That will complete today's look at the Ericsson ratchet tie down strap with the twisted snap hooks, part number EM51324.

The Erickson Big Bed Junior Hitch Mounted Load Extender, # EM07605, does not comes with the straps you see in the pictures. If you look at some of the pictures of just the extender, you will see two loops, one on each end, of the T part of the extender. You could run safety cables, rope, or hooks through these to help secure the cargo. The other straps are attached in the adjustments holes for the cross bar. You could also wrap a strap around each side of the cross bar to stabilize the...

  • Does the Exhaust Need to be Lowered to Install a Curt Hitchon a 2012 Subaru Impreza
The exhaust only needs to come down a little bit to install this # C11120 on your 2012 Subaru Impreza. An easy way to support the exhaust once you remove the fifth exhaust hanger would be to use a tie-down like our Snap-Loc Tie Down part # EM51324 to secure the exhaust to a part of the vehicle before you lower it so that the strap will hold the weight of the exhaust while it is off the hangers. You can adjust the cam buckle to raise or lower the exhaust once it is supporting the weight...

  • Ratchet Strap with Keepers Recommendation
Keepers are basically metal prongs that are in the opening of the hook on the ends of the straps that act as a mechanism that helps secure the strap to the surface that they attach to. A lot of times when you are trying to use ratchet straps it is difficult to keep the hook of the strap from popping out of place when ratcheting. The keepers help prevent that by putting a little tension in the hook so it stays in place. See the picture to the right for more clarification. We can offer you...
