Ratchet Strap with Keepers Recommendation

Question:

Iwas wondering what keepers are, regarding these tiedown ratchet straps.

Keepers are basically metal prongs that are in the opening of the hook on the ends of the straps that act as a mechanism that helps secure the strap to the surface that they attach to. A lot of times when you are trying to use ratchet straps it is difficult to keep the hook of the strap from popping out of place when ratcheting. The keepers help prevent that by putting a little tension in the hook so it stays in place. See the picture to the right for more clarification.

We can offer you a ratchet strap with keepers soon, but the Ratchet Strap with Double J-Hook and Keepers, 2 inch x 30 foot 10K, part # 58510, does not have actually have keepers. We are working on correcting the title as we speak.

I spoke with my contact at Erickson, and If you would like a ratchet strap with keepers they will be offering a couple models soon that will have keepers and be close to the size and weight capacity of the # 58510.

In the meantime, the only ratchet straps with a keeper style hook on it is the Ratchet Strap with Twisted Snap Hooks with Safety Latch, 1-1/2 inch x 15 foot 4K, part # EM51324.
