Features:

  • Heavy-duty tie-down strap lets you secure cargo in your truck bed or trailer

Note: Tie-down straps must be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). The weight of the secured cargo must not exceed the combined WLL of the straps being used. For example, if you are using straps with a WLL of 500 lbs each to tie down a load weighing 1,000 lbs, then you need at least 2 straps to safely secure that load. It is recommended that you always use straps in pairs.

Video Transcript for Review of Erickson Ratchet Straps - Trailer - Truck Bed - EM52400

Ellen: Hey everybody. I'm Ellen here at etrailer.com, and we're going to be taking a quick look at the Erickson Tie-Down Ratchet Strap. This helps to secure any kind of cargo in your vehicle, whether that's a trailer, a truck, or anything else. Helps to keep everything where it needs to be, and tensions it down to make sure that it doesn't shift around while you're traveling. Let's take a closer look at it, and talk about some of the specs to make sure that this is the right fit for your particular application. It just has this ratchet mechanism here in the center.

Open this up from the store position, like you see it. Just going to pull up on this little tab, and that helps you to open it up. Then it'll lock into place. Then you can ratchet it down, and take out any of the slack in that strap. To pull out the slack or to loosen it up just pull up on that same piece in the center, open it all the way out until it locks into that smaller groove there on the inside of the mechanism, and then you can pull out on that strap. Pretty easy to use.

The ratchet mechanism and the ends are made out of a heat-treated, low carbon steel, and it is chromate-plated, so it should resist any rust and corrosion. We're going to have these double J-hooks to attach onto any kind of anchor point, same on the other side, and these do have reinforced stitching to make sure that there's no fraying or splitting here at the ends. The straps themselves measure a 2 inches wide, and 25 feet long, so pretty good sized strap. The weight ratings with this, it is rated for a safe working load limit of 1,650 pounds, and a break strength, or max load of 5,000 pounds. You really want to go for that safe working load limit though. That's going to be the safe number to go by to make sure that you're not going to be anywhere near that breaking number.

Things can always happen, and you just really want to go off of the safe working load limit. Of course, it is a good idea to use straps in a pair to make sure that everything stays nice and secure, and that you go over things so that there's not any shifting one way or the other. Then you want to select the straps based on their safe working load limit combined. In this case, that would put you at about a 3,200 and.. Or 3,300 pounds for the combined safe working load limit for this.

You want to make sure that whatever you're hauling is going to be less than that amount of weight. But that's pretty much all there is to it for our look at the Erickson Ratchet Tie-Down Strap. I hope this has been helpful on deciding if this is the right strap for you. We do have a lot of other options available though, here at etrailer.com, so check them out. Thanks for watching.

I was looking for a heavy duty strap and a medium size. This fit the bill perfectly. The D style handle makes heavy ratcheting easy because all of your fingers can be used to pull on the ratchet. The ratchet release is also large enough to be able to release the strap with ease even under a heavy load. Well built with nice attention to detail. I will buy this product again if future straps are needed. The strap that I bought had S hooks rather than J hooks but that was what I was looking for anyway.

The Products are as advertised. High Quality, and delivered Timely.
They contacted me next day to let me know that the shipment would take a little longer due to some sort of back up, Great customer service! The products arrived shortly after.
Thanks!

  • Will the Brophy Recessed D-Ring Tie-Down Work on an Enclosed Trailer with Particle Board Floor
You can use the Brophy Recessed Trailer D-Ring, # RR5K, on your enclosed trailer, however, my main concern would be the ability of the particle board floor to secure or support a heavy load such as a car. Particle board is weaker than wood boards or plywood. The floor would fail well before the d-ring and that would be the case with most tie-down rings that you would install. It would be best to bolt the d-rings to the trailers frame where possible and add additional reinforcement from...
