Video Transcript for Winner International Wheel Locks - Vehicle Wheel Lock - WI490 Review

Today, we're going to take a look at the Wheel Club tire and wheel lock. This is a security wheel lock and anti-theft device for trailers, ATVs, and small vehicles. It is made of a weather-resistance, galvanized steel, very quick and easy to use, provides a visible theft deterrent. Has a covered key lock guard that'll guard against the elements on your lock cylinder. It does come with the two lock and keys. This is designed to fit anywhere from a 13-inch to 16-inch wheel.

It can fit tires up to 28 inches overall diameter and 9 inches wide. It does come as two pieces. I just want to show you how to install this. First, what you want to do is take your key, open up your cover, put your key in. Then, just turn it, and it'll unlock it. With it unlocked like that and what you'll want to do is just place the Wheel Club around the wheel.

Then, just open the arms up like that until this stand is all the way down just like that. Then, once you get it all the way open, you take the silver sliding, locking silver bar, slide it all the way in until it's around the tire. Then, once you get it to one of the holes, just push it a little bit more, then you can push that in. It'll lock it into one of the holes. It'll keep it in place.

Put your cover back on. See with it installed just like this, secured. This'll cover the whole wheel, prevent any dismantling and pretty much render it immobile. You see with the stand out here, it keeps it from rolling any which way. Then, just to remove it, all you have to do is pop open the cover, put your key in there. That'll unlock it.

Slide your bar out just like that, take your key out. Then, the other piece, you see will just compact down like that. Very simple to install and remove. But that should do it for the Wheel Club tire and wheel lock.

Security wheel lock and anti-theft device for trailers, ATVs and small vehicles. Fits tires up to 28" diameter, 9" wide.

by:

Product design was very good. Product parts were not appropriate for my trailer wheel. My tire had a thickness of 5 inches. To fit appropriately a wheel needs to be 9 inches wide. I added an adjustment fix that worked. I hope. It would be nice to be able to purchase a stronger wheel lock. See picture for my "fix"

by:

I am very happy with my wheel club. I am very aware that you can't stop a thief but you can make it difficult for them. The wheel club is very visible and says if you want this trailer you have to work for it. I have also ordered the steal shield for the hitch and have installed an alarm on my trailer. I sleep a lot better at night

by:

It seems a little too big for my 15 inch wheel. The tire is only 5 inches wide, so I knew it would be a little sloppy. Hopefully it serves as a visual deterrent and will make thievery just a bit too inconvenient.

This wheel lock has worked great. Again, it works well as a visual deterrent, but also seems to fit pretty well when applied a little differently than prescribed. No modifications, just enough space to wrap around part of the wheel assembly. I dont believe a thief could remove this very easily.

by:

Looks like it will do just what I need, as advertised.
Very fast shipment

Sometimes the locking device goes on and I am able to easily engage the lock. Other times I struggle for several minutes trying to get it engaged. Other wise no problems.

AS IT IS ONLY A DETERRANT FROM A THIEF THE CENTER PLATE COULD BE BIGGER TO AT LEAST COVER THE LUG NUTS,OTHER THAN THAT ITS ON MY TRAILER AND HOPING THIS ONE WONT GET STOLEN..

by:

Etrailer is an excellent company to deal with, fast service, fair prices. The Wheel Club leaves one feeling as though he has just ate a good dinner at a nice restaurant, but was not offered any desert or coffee after the meal... All of the companies offering this type of device say you need a plate to cover the lug nuts to prevent removal of the wheel. The plate on this device is too small to be of any use. I was easily able to undo all lugs with a standard craftsman 1/2" drive socket. They need to make the plate big enough to obscure the lugs, this would not add to the cost. The lock itself should be welded to the device. I can't see how it is attached, but I would bet that it is only pressesd in. This device is OK, however I will
weld on a bigger plate even if it voids the warranty. I knew it was merely a detterent for theft, but the small plate and light duty lock are elementary at best. I saw this in the add for the product, and yes, I bought it, it will deter a stupid thief, and most are stupid, so I guess I will use it, and just keep a close eye on the trailer.

by:

It great, reliable, easy-to-use Perfect in every way . Thank you very much

by:

This wheel lock is much easier to use than others I have experience with. It will not fit smaller tires like Golf Carts and small trailer wheels. I am also worried that the lock can be broken off with one good whack with a hammer.

by:

Fortunately , I discovered the inability of the wheel lock to do the job early on , under controlled circumstances. Bottom line , with the wheel lock in place , I was able to pull the trailer forward easily while the wheel lock simply slid off . Purchased a new wheel lock , from your competitor. So far so good.

by:

I bought 2 for extra security and these are really great wheel locks. I can't keep my boat in a area where I feel that it is safe from theft and these wheel locks make me feel more secure that it as safe as possible. They really are strong and simple to use with a key lock.

Still working great!!!

by:

The information on what size tires these fit is wrong. My tire size is ST225/75R15 and these tire locks are to small.

I reached out to the manufacturer for clarity and they say since there are so many different tire sizes, they do not recommend going by tire number, which is why they give out the information that the #490 claw fits tires up to 9 inches wide and 28 inches in diameter. They do have an XL tire claw, item # WI491 that adjusts up to 12 inches wide that should be a better fit for your wheel.

by:

This wheel lock is supposed to fit tires up to 28 inches in diameter and 9 inches wide which the tires on my trailer are. I cannot get the lock to work unless I put another hole in the chrome part. When Rebecca checked with the manufacturer she was told that the hub was probably in the way. This is not the case and I hope drilling another hole will solve the problem. I am rating it as good since it doesn't fit my tire as advertised.

by:

One of the best wheel lock for the money. It locks and chocks the wheel.
Quick to install & remove. For added security got the lug nut locks with the knowledge that extra keys can be order in the future.

by:

I just installed the wheel club onto my motorcycle trailer. It seems like it will work out very nicely; most lug-nuts are covered (to help prevent wheel removal), which is a very nice feature.

by:

The ordering was quick and easy and showed up earlier than I expected.
Excellent product and service

by:

By accident I found that this product did not work as intended. Forgot to take it off. When I started forward the trailer hopped one and it immediately popped off. It was bent pretty bad, but pretty easy to straighten back up which tells me it isn't very strong. With that said, it probably is a deterrent to most thieves.

by:

In addition to the trailer hitch lock having this wheel lock provides an extra level of security.

by:

It seems a little on the weak side and could probably be cut off pretty quickly, but it still serves as a decent deterrent.

by:

I haven't had any issues with product or haven't experienced any theft. Easy to use and works well.

by:

This product is excellent. Easy to install, and easy to remove. It feels and looks tough. Once again, I now have a wheel lock on both wheels of my trailer and feel that my cargo trailer is much more secure. The product is great and the service was great. Thank you.

by:

Using in conjunction with the Fastway Universal Trailer Coupler Lock for 1-7/8", 2" and 2-5/16" Couplers. Great company and very quick delivery time

by:

Works well for an economical solution. I ended up purchasing a little over 100 of these for a fleet of trailers and haven’t had one stolen since we put them on about a year ago.

by:

This seems like it will work fine for my utility trailer. It should help keep it from falling into someone else s hands. Hopefully I will never find out. Thanks again etrailer, you guys are always on it. :)

by:

This products works well but is a bit fiddly to fit the first few times. It is highly visible, which is a good deterrent for thieves to move onto the next trailer while your trailer is in storage.

by:

The wheel club is sturdy and idiot proof. It snaps on in seconds and should provide a nice deterrent to anyone with nefarious ideas. It’s coated, looks great and looks like it will last forever.

  • Can the Club Tire Claw XL # WI491-491LNP be Cut Through
The The Club Tire Claw XL Wheel Lock with Lug Nut Protector Plate # WI491-491LNP, just like any other lock for any device, is more of a theft deterrent than a sure-fire way to keep someone from stealing your vehicle or getting at your wheels. Given enough time and the right equipment any lock can be beaten. Because of this (and to avoid would-be thieves from researching how much time they need) there are no "cut times" for the Club Tire Claw XL. If you don't like the design of this wheel...

  • Which Wheel Lock Set Is Best For My Trailer?
We do not have a way to accurately tell you which lugs your trailer has. I recommend going to a local auto parts store to see if they can determine the size. It sounds like you have a standard light-duty utility trailer which would most likely have the common 1/2" lug nuts. If you do have 1/2" lug nuts then you could use Wheel Lock Set # RG01-150. We don't have lock sets for any other lug nut size at this time, however, if you have a size other than 1/2" then you could use a standard...

This model fits wheels from 13 to 16 inches and tires up to 28 inches in diameter, 9 inches in width. The hitch receiver lock diameter is 5/8" and is 6-3/4" long. The locking coupler pin is 1/2" diameter and 7" long. This set is nice since they're keyed alike, making it easier for you to use them, while providing two points of security, making it harder for thieves. Just note that these locks are a deterrent for opportunistic theft. If you want to...

  • Do Trailers have Common Wheel Lug Nut Sizes for a Wheel Lock
There are common lug nut sizes found on trailers: 7/16, 1/2, 9/16, and 5/8 but the most common is 1/2 inch. If you can tell me the trailer weight capacity and wheel size/bolt pattern I can verify if they are likely to be 1/2 inch or another size. If they are 1/2 inch we have wheel lock # RG01-150. Another option is a lock such as # WI490. With it the lug nut size won't matter. I have linked a video of this lock and included a link to the wheel locks we carry.
