A PC-rated light produces a 90-degree angle of light to either side of its centerline for a total of 180 degrees of coverage. This beam pattern can be clearly seen when you are standing directly in front of the light, as well as when you are standing on either side of the light. When properly installed, this type of light can function as both a front clearance light and a side marker light or as a rear clearance light and side marker light.
Recessed-mount trailer lights install with a grommet, which is often sold separately. These lights extend past the trailer surface and require a hole for installation. If replacing a light, you can utilize the pre-existing hole. If installing a new light, you will need to cut a hole or use a mounting bracket (sold separately) to complete the installation.

Today we're gonna take a look at the Peterson LED clearance and side marker light with grommet. This is gonna have a single diode design and a red lens. Now this is gonna offer a clearance and brake light on our trailer. It is gonna be a very small light, so it's gonna be more of an accent than an actual trailer marker, or a stop signal. But we are gonna have that red lens. And this is going to be an LED light so it's gonna make a great replacement for any incandescent lights on your trailer.
We don't have to worry about any broken filaments, no bulbs to change with this. It's gonna be a very long-lasting light. It can last up to 50 times longer than your typical incandescent bulb. It's also going to be more efficient, so we have less power draw with this than our incandescent. And as you can see at the back, it's gonna be sealed with an epoxy material, so we don't have to worry about any water or dust getting in there and causing any corrosion or shorts.Now it does have a recessed mount with the black PVC grommet, as you can see.
You might need to drill a hole to get this actually installed, and that will need to be three-quarters-of-an-inch in diameter. We have our two wire pigtail at the back. We're gonna have black for power, white for ground. This is going to be DoT compliant and PC rated with top-mount positioning. Again, our pigtail at the back is going to measure about eight inches.
So you can see. And then we are gonna have that single diode design. Our light is gonna sit back about 9/16ths of an inch, and it is going to be three-quarters in diameter.The LED does have a limited lifetime warranty from Peterson. And I'll go ahead and hook this up to power and ground so you can see just how bright it's gonna be. Our black wire goes to power, white goes to ground.
As you can see a small but mighty light that's gonna give us a really nice looking accent on our trailer, side marker for our trailer. Go ahead and turn the lights out in the studio here so you can get a better idea of just how bright that's going to be. So it gives us a nice good light. Would look really cool if you grab a whole bunch of these, get them wired up all along your trailer. And gonna last a really long time. Especially compared to those incandescent bulbs.And that's gonna do it for our look at the Peterson LED clearance and side marker light with grommet, with a red lens.

PC rated.Have nat installed the lights yet, the service was great. The only thing I might change is the length of the pigtail. Idally they should be 15"-18".
