Note: Gunwale tie-downs should always be used along with a winch strap and a set of transom (stern) or bow tie-downs. All straps and cables should be chosen according to their safe working load limit (WLL). To determine the maximum load, or break strength, of the strap, simply multiply the WLL by 3. The WLL is always one-third (1/3) of the maximum load.

Today we're going to take a look at the SmartStraps two inch wide by 16 foot long gunwale tie down strap with a 333 pound working load limit for a quantity of one strap. Now this heavy duty tie down strap will firmly secure your boat's gunwale, which is the side edge of your boat to your trailer. A strap will help limit the vertical movement of the boat while you're towing. It does use a nice easy release buckle here. Has the coated steel S hooks on each end to help protect your boat's paint finish from any scuffs and scratches, and the hooks are designed to attach to the trailer frame and hold the boat to the trailer. And you can see the hooks have these safety latches on there.Now gunwale tie downs should always be used along with a winch strap and a set of transom or bow tied outs.

To determine the maximum load or break strength of the strap, you just simply multiply the working load limit by three. Strap dimensions again is two inches wide, 16 feet long. Maximum load strength or break strength is 1000 pounds.
Safe working load limit is 333 pounds, and it is for a quantity of one gunwale strap. And you can see your excess strap is held in place by this hook and loop fastener here. You can wind out as much as you need. There's your nice easy release buckle on the bottom here.
