A trailer jack is designed to lift the tongue of your trailer so you can connect the trailer coupler to your hitch ball. To do this, you'll need a jack with a lift capacity high enough to handle your trailer's tongue weight.
Tongue weight is the amount of weight that your trailer applies to the back of your tow vehicle. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. For a trailer this size, you would need a jack with a lift capacity of at least 1,500 lbs.
It's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher lift capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.
Every jack offers a certain amount of lift or travel. Screw travel is the distance the jack extends when you crank it (or toggle it to "extend" on an electric model). Some jacks include a drop leg for extra adjustability. On these jacks, you'll see the maximum extension of the drop leg listed in the specs as well. Adding the screw travel and drop leg travel together will give you the total lift. The total lift listed above can help you determine how high this jack will be able to raise your trailer.

This jack fit fine. The lights are helpful.
I recieved the jack in a timely fashion and the box was destroyed (packing wasn't good) and was a bit worried but it didn't have a scratch on it and was very easy to install. Bolted right up!I really am happy with it and I would recommend it and etrailer!!
The three items we ordered arrived on time. The electric jack was easy to install, 3 bolts and 1 wire. Took less then an hour. It makes hitching and unhitching our Keystone Hideout much easier.
Customer service was very helpful when we called to add a third item to our order.

Nice jack . Fit up on travel trailer was good did have to take 3/16 off the back of round mounting plate so it would not hit the battery box I did check with Ultra-fab and they got back to me the same day ,wanted to make sure this would not effect warranty . well built and quality was very good . So much better then my old jack .
Easy to install. I also replaced bolts with grade 8 bolts.

Lift came super quick from etrailer. Very easy to install since replacing older model of the same lift. Ultra-Fab should include wire and fuse needed for the positive wire -had to reuse old fuse!

Well I guess its been a year since purchasing the Ultra-Fab Electric A-Frame Jack as per the email I received from etrailer. I have been very happy with the purchase, this is so much better than cranking a handle!! Installation was very easy too. I liked this one since it has a zerk fitting for lubing the jack where others didn't seem to have that. All in all, I would purchase this jack again and through etrailer.com too.
The fit was flawless and it handles my Flagstaff Mac with ease. It is a pop-up and not a huge load, but it saves a 70 yr. old a lot of cranking. Install was a breeze. Love it when items are as described. 6 day delivery over a holiday long week-end. Thanks for the great service.
etrailer had the best price. Shipped to me in a few days. Took about 1 hour to convert from the 4th bad liepert smart jack. Works fast and easy. As I read on other reviews it is "wobbly" side to side compared to the old jack but rating are equal.
Put on my enclosed ATC car trailer. Have not yet loaded the car - I think that should only be done when "hooked up". Check with me in a few months after I have used it a bunch.

The Ultra-Fab power jack is great so far. This was a direct replacement for the stock original jack. Easy to install. This one has a fuse in-line as the original jack did not. I like that feature.

Bought this one year ago and it died already. It is not one that I would recommend. We had to hand crank on several occasions. We bought something different and threw this one away. As for Etrailer, great company.
Unit was out of stock but I was willing to wait. Well it was delivered a lot sooner than I thought and was kept updated about delivery date.(no guessing). The jack installed easily and works as expected. I am very satisfied with the service and the product. Thank you etrailer!

still going strong!
The product was easy to install. I put the trailer on my truck hitch before I started. No need for impact tool to loosen the bolts on the manual jack. Your jack fit fine, even cleared the propane bottle cover, although I have to sqeeze a little to get to the light switch. My trailer is a 30' Keystone Hornet with slideout. Your jack sounded like it was working hard, but it kept raising. It's the 3500 lb model, and I didn't measure the tongue weight before I started. However, it was right at freezing outside, and my battery isn't new, but all went well. Plenty of travel, and I like the removeable foot. All in all, I'm a Happy Camper.
Worked as advertised. Easy installatio n.
easy to install and one wire to connect. works great so far on my Pace American V-nose enclosed trailer with a couple snowmobiles on board

Very good, recently sold this trailer
Great product, was easy to install and wire up. Very durable, grease tip location on the tube very convenient. Cons ( would like to see a foot extension for the tube and a more durable cover for the grease tip, other than that its a thumps up for this product.
Just what I expected from an Ultra-Fab product. I have bought this same jack for another application and was pleased with it and the same with this one.
This application I had to drill all the holes needed as the trailer did not have tongue jack. It was a simple drill with all the different hole combination on the jacks mounting pad. Works and looks great!!!
I drove 150 miles to a rv dealer to buy a electric tonge jack that they wanted over $350 for and bought this one from e trailer for a lot less then $200 and this one is a 3500# and the one at the rv place was 3000#,and the same brand,this a great place to get all your trailer and towing needs,i check prices of a lot of different items and e trailer beat everyone for the things I was looking at,i will be ordering a lot more.thankyou.
This unit was purchased to replace an UltraFab that I bought in 2007; that would mean my first unit lasted over 12 years. The old unit was still running, but the motor had a couple of dead spots and I got tired of bumping it to get it moving. I consider anything electrical that sits outside for this long, and still technically works, pretty decent quality.
The new unit looks very similar to the old one, except the lights are now LED and there is a grease hole on the shaft. The addition of a grease point is great because my old unit could not be easily greased (thus, never was). This should extend the life of the new unit.
Installation was easy, except the unit would not power up reliably. The issue appears to be the fuse holder supplied with the kit. The fuse was too loose in the holder and the power connection was weak. To solve the problem (I hope) I took the fuse holder apart and stretched the internal spring. This seemed to fix the problem.
I hope this unit gives me the service my last one did. I bet it will.
Low price but high quality. Works faster than most Jack's out there. My only concern is the length of the shaft. I need to use a 6 inch block under it. Works great. I now have 2 of them. One on my enclosed cargo trailer and one on my 26 ft travel trailer. Highly recommend. It
Great jack - haven't hooked up the electronics, but it's been great. The little rubber cover over the manual jack nut drive cracked, but I assume that is because I keep using it repeatedly (more than it was designed for). I wish it had a zerk fitting or two on the jack tube, just to keep it from seizing up in the future.
$100.00 less than local C.W. wanted for same item.
10 minutes to install. Only needed $0.75 in line joint and spade to install.
Replaced Lippert jack that came on trailer.
More lifting power than factory jack.
Works great.
