Installation of Ultra-Fab Electric Trailer Jack on 2017 Keystone Cougar X-tra Lite
Question:
I currently own a 2017 Keystone Cougar X-tra lite travel trailer. It operates on a 50 amp shore line plug in. I bought a new 3500 lb capacity Ultra-Fab electric tongue jack. It has a red wire and a black wire coming off of the motor. I connected one end of the in line fuse wirered to the red wire and put a terminal ring on the other end and connected it to the positive side of the battery. Did I do that correctly? The black wire went to the negative post of the battery.

Yes. That is the correct wiring for the Ultra-Fab # UF38-944017 if you've got an on-board battery on your coach. If you've got no battery, you can wire this into a junction box by connecting the wire to the inline fuse and then connecting that to the 12v/auxiliary power post; you'll then want to make a connection to the frame of the trailer with the ground (black) wire for the best results.
I've linked a review video where Randy does an installation of this jack that you can refer to, but you can rest assured that you've installed it in the correct manner. If you're having issues getting powered to the unit, you'll want to make sure that the ground wire is firmly connected to the terminal.
If you're unable to get it working properly, let me know and I can give you a few other things to have a look at.
