I recommended the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR you were looking at as it can be installed in any vehicle with a 7-way connector, and with only the knob visible it won't take away or look out of place in your 1963 Pontiac Station Wagon.
To install the # RED44FR you will need to have a 7-way connector installed. If you do not have one we offer the # ETBC7 which is a universal kit.
The wiring harness of the # RED44FR will need to be wired as follows:
Black wire to positive terminal of vehicle battery with 30 amp circuit breaker # PK54230
White wire to ground
Blue wire to trailer brake wire on 7-way connector
Red wire to cold side of stop light switch that only has power when brake pedal is applied.
To find the correct stop light switch wire you will need a circuit tester like # PTW2993.
I included a video of the # RED44FR for you to take a look at.
