Troubleshooting 1998 GMC Sierra k1500 Installation Issues with ETBC7 Brake Controller Kit

I installed this kit today and it worked in the beginning, but then one of the fuses began to make a sound like a rubber band snapping, and the. My trailer brake controller quit working, and now I can’t get anything to work. An ideas in what I did wrong?

It sounds like the auto-reset circuit breaker went bad. When it resets it makes that loud click sound. On your brake controller power wire you will want the Circuit Breaker - 30 Amp - Perpendicular Mount Bracket - Cycling Auto Reset - Metal - Type I # PK54230. If the 12v power wire to the 7 way also needs replaced you will want the 40 amp # 9510. I've attached an article to show the installation process for you to double-check.
You will want to get to the issue why the circuit breaker failed before just replacing it or it likely will also fail. There has to be a reason why the circuit breaker is tripping that eventually caused the failure. Check your wires for broken insulation and check for short circuits where power wires could be touching a ground like the frame or body panel. If you need to replace wire, you can use # 12-2-1 sold by the foot. If you want to replace that entire wire length and the circuits you can use kit # 5506.
