Video Transcript for Review of Maxxair Rain Sensor Replacement - MA34FR

Michael: Hi there, I'm Michael with etrailer.com. Today, we're taking a quick look at the MaxxAir replacement rain sensor. This is going to replace the rain sensor on your MaxxAir RV or trailer roof vent fan. One of the nice features of the MaxxAir RV and trailer roof vent fan is that when it senses rain, it will automatically close the dome and shut off the fan so that nothing inside is going to get wet.Once the sensor is dry, the fan will automatically restart and open the lid. So that's a very nice feature of that vent fan. However, if your rain sensor isn't working, you're not going to have that functionality.

And so that is why this product is available. If your original we're to go bad or get damaged, whatever the case may be, that you can replace it with this. It's very simple to get installed. We've got the same pen here to get it connected. So you just remove the old one, slide this in its place and get this mounted in the same place as the original.

So, very easy and it will give you that functionality, again so that you don't have to worry about the rain getting in and getting your RV wet. That's going to complete our look at the replacement rain sensor. Thanks for watching.

I haven’t received my product yet. But I have installed one of these for a friend. Very easy. The only negative I’d say is the model number on the website doesn’t match so I had to call to verify it would work with my model fan.

by:

I received my order promptly. Unfortunately, it did not resolve the issue my fan was having where the vent closes when you turn the fan on.

by:

Part didn't fit but I am working on a way to make it work it shouldn't be much trouble but I have not done it yet

  • Are There Any Troubleshooting Steps For A MaxxAir MaxxFan Rain Sensor
There really isn't any troubleshooting that you can do with a MaxxAir Rain Sensor besides just making sure the vent has a full 12v of power and that the rain sensor cable isn't damaged and is fully plugged in. If it isn't working properly all you can really do is simply replace it with # MA34FR.

  • Maxx Air Fan Lid Unable to Fully Open
It sounds like the lift arms aren't able to keep the lid up to the fan's fully-opened height. There are a few things that may cause this. You may have already tried this, but push the manual knob in when the you've reached the fully-opened position to engage the locking mechanism. If that doesn't solve the problem, there are some troubleshooting steps to take. First, check to make sure the bolts of the lift arms are fully tightened. If there are loose components, it may not be able to...

  • Troubleshooting MaxxAir MaxxFan MA00-04500K Having Power But Fan Not Turning On
Since your MaxAir MaxxFan Roof Vent # MA00-04500K has power to it but the fan is not working there is one of two possible issues. One is that the rain sensor is detecting moisture keeping the fan from working. Cleaning the sensor with Isopropyl Rubbing Alcohol should dry up the moisture, but if not you will need to replace the rain sensor with the # MA34FR. If you have identified that the issue is not the rain sensor then the circuit board itself has gone bad and will need to be replaced...

  • Troubleshooting MaxxAir Vent Fan 4951KSC Not Opening
For your MaxxAir Vent Fan 4951KSC you'd need the replacement circuit board # MA10A21275K. I will say that since your vent has a rain sensor there is a good chance that could be causing your issue. If that part malfunctions it won't allow the vent either, and since its quite a bit cheaper its a good think to try first. For a replacement sensor you'd need # MA34FR.

  • Troubleshooting Maxxair Model 4951 KS With Cover Problems
This sounds like a problem with the circuit board more than a rain sensor. I recommend, if you have not already, removing the vent from all power for 1-15 minutes. Let it have a hard reset, use this time to give it a good cleaning if needed. Wipe off the sensor and check to make sure everything looks in good working order. After you plug it back in if it is still acting a fool I recommend getting a new circuit board. It will be the Replacement Printed Circuit Board for MaxxAir MaxxFan...

  • MaxxFan MA00-4500K Vent Lid Will Not Open
As a first step, disconnect power to the fan for a few minutes, then reconnect power to reset the circuit board # MA10A21275K. If the fan fails again it could be the circuit board. Your rain sensor could incorrectly think rain is present on the rain sensor # MA34FR. Unplug rain sensor, leave unplugged and try again. If it begins working, it could be the sensor. If you cannot open the lid manually it may be a jammed or stripped operator # MA10-20281K-1AF, or the lift motor is shorted out...

  • MAxxAir Fan not Closing When it Rains
Yes when your red light is on your rain sensor is turned off. I reached out to my contact at MAXXAir and we were able to determine the most likely cause of this issue is a faulty rain sensor. We have that available for order on our website as part # MA34FR. He explained that it is a simple replacement process and will get you up and running again.

  • Replacement Circuit Board and Rain Sensor for MaxxFan Plus
The MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan, Thermostat, and Remote - Powered Lift - 10 Speed - Smoke # MA00-04500K is the similar fan to the 4951ksc. The issue you are having with the fan and lid are likely the circuit board which can be replaced with # MA10A21275K. However, the issue could be as simple as replacing the rain sensor. The Replacement Rain Sensor for MaxxAir RV or Trailer Roof Vent Fans # MA34FR is what you need for that and the rain sensor going bad causes the lid to close...

  • Troubleshooting MaxxFan Not Opening on 2017 Grand Design Reflection
It looks like you have the MaxxAir MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan - Powered Lift - 4 Speed - White # MA00-04751KSX. The unit sounds like it is malfunctioning and this could be due to the rain sensor # MA34FR. It sounds to me like the sensor is seeing moisture whether there or not and keeping the power lid from opening. I recommend unplugging the rain sensor and seeing if all the other functions work. If so, then simply replace that sensor. If the other features still do not work,...

  • Replacement Rain Sensor for MaxxFan Roof Vent
The correct rain sensor for your MaxxFan roof vent is the part # MA34FR. The install and removal is pretty simple. You'll pry up on the old one and then trace the wiring harness back to where it plugs in to remove it. Then to install the new one you'd just reverse the process.

  • Troubleshooting A Solid Red Light On A MaxxAir MaxxFan RV Roof Vent
If you're getting a solid red light that indicates that the rain sensor is sensing moisture and calling for the vent to close to protect itself. Since you just replaced the circuit board it's most likely the rain sensor itself that's the issue. Unfortunately there isn't any troubleshooting that you can do besides just simply replacing the sensor with part # MA34FR.

  • Fantastic Vent Ceiling Fan Won’t Open or Close
The most common problem when a fan like the MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent part # MA00-04500K will run the fan but won't open is the Replacement Rain Sensor for MaxxAir RV or Trailer Roof Vent Fans part # MA34FR . I would first attempt to clean the sensor really well and check for operation. If it works your good to go. If it doesn't use the replacement sensor listed here.
