Maxx Air Fan Lid Unable to Fully Open
Question:
When I turn the fan on the lid opens but before it opens completely it begins to bump, bump, bump and then stop partially opened. I have tried to manually open the rest of the way, but even by hand the lid reaches a more open height and bumps back to the partially opened height as before.

It sounds like the lift arms aren't able to keep the lid up to the fan's fully-opened height. There are a few things that may cause this.
You may have already tried this, but push the manual knob in when the you've reached the fully-opened position to engage the locking mechanism. If that doesn't solve the problem, there are some troubleshooting steps to take.
First, check to make sure the bolts of the lift arms are fully tightened. If there are loose components, it may not be able to support the weight of the lid.
If everything checks out there, check the lift arms for any damage or bends. If you find any, then you will have to replace the arms with part # MA10-20222KS.
If there aren't any problems up to this point, then there may be something wrong with the lift motor. You can replace that with part # MA10-20281K-1AF.
There is one last thing that may cause this. The rain sensor of these vents prevent the lid from fully opening if there is any rain or moisture detected. A malfunctioning sensor can "detect" that moisture when there isn't any, causing it to stop the lid from opening. This can be replaced with part # MA34FR.
