MaxxFan MA00-4500K Vent Lid Will Not Open

Question:

The air vent/lid will not not open or close manually or using the remote. The fan works fine. I removed the motor and it is an oily mess. Ive read some of the questions on your website and think that if its not the motor then it is the operator mechanism. I cannot budge the lid. Problem is Im leaving on a big cross country trip on August 8th, so have to solve this before I go.

As a first step, disconnect power to the fan for a few minutes, then reconnect power to reset the circuit board # MA10A21275K. If the fan fails again it could be the circuit board.

Your rain sensor could incorrectly think rain is present on the rain sensor # MA34FR. Unplug rain sensor, leave unplugged and try again. If it begins working, it could be the sensor.

If you cannot open the lid manually it may be a jammed or stripped operator # MA10-20281K-1AF, or the lift motor is shorted out and needs replacing. Remove each part and test. A replacement lift motor is available as part # MA10-20270. If the lift motor isn't receiving power, then the most likely scenario there is that the circuit board is bad. If your MaxxFan is an exhaust only model, the correct replacement board is part # MA39FR or # MA10A21275K for models with a reversible fan.
