Today we're going to be taking a look at the Dutton-Lainson Hand Winch Cable with Safety Hook, part number DL24047. It's going to be the flexible 7 by 9 galvanized aircraft cable. You can see here that it's got the nice twined or braided construction, so it's very strong, very durable. The diameter of the cable is going to measure 7/32". Overall length is going to measure 25'. Here on this end you're going to have the forged steel hook. It's going to have that safety latch on there.
This is going to be suitable for use on hand winches up to 2,500 pound capacity and for strong arm electric winches up to 3,000 pounds. The safe working load limit for other applications is going to be 1,120 pounds. Here on this end of the cable you can see here how the hook is going to swivel around there. The hook does not make contact with the actual cable here on the underside. It has that nice, steel protector right there. That's going to protect the eyelet here on the hook, but it's also going to protect the cable from being able fray if this was to swivel back and forth.
That's a great feature to have. Here on this end you're going to have the exposed end, that's going to allow for easy installation onto a winch. Again, heavy duty cable. Nice construction. Nice really smooth cable. Should last a really long time.
You're going to have that safety latch that closes automatically, that's going to help prevent accidental unhooking or disconnecting. A few measurements I want to go over with you real quick just here at the hook. Here at the top portion of the hook we're going to have a narrow area. That's going to give us an opening size at the narrowest point of about 5/8". Down here at the widest point, just measuring above that safety latch, that's going to give us an opening of 7/8". It's going to give you quite a bit of room in here to hook this on to your application as needed. That's going do it for our review of part number DL24047.

So far so good, way better than the strap that I ordered from somebody else.
The capacity of the winch was inaccurate and wouldnt take the cable had to order the strap. Costumer service was less than average but not poor had to make several calls to get a refund.
Quality was better than the originally cable on my Load-Rite boat trailer. Install was easy - be careful with fraying when removing an OLD cable - and works great.
I used this with a worm gear winch to adjust the angle of an outdoor rock climbing wall. Have had no issues and highly recommend.
There is not much to say about a cable and hook, except I would buy another if needed. Good hook and smooth cable. It will pull a ton
The winch is build strong. I like it very much. It will do heavy work. Well made. I'll have the winch for a very long time.
Oh ya... made in USA is a plus.
Not a whole lot you can say about a cable, but is was an easy install and looks like good quality

Sorry to hear that this product did not work for you. We have not gotten any other reviews about the 2500lb capacity failing.
