Speaker 1: Today we're going to take a look at the Hayes/AL-KO 12-1/4" by 3-1/2" hydraulic drum brake assembly for 9,000 to 12,000 pound axles. Now, this hydraulic drum brake assembly is designed for use with the surge-type trailer brake actuators. This one is dual-plunger design so it delivers the same amount of braking when driving either forward or in reverse. The mounting nuts, you can see, are included to install this to your axle. This part is made in the USA. Again, the application for this, it fits 9,000 pound to 12,000 pound AL-KO Hayes axles with hydraulic brakes.This assembly can be used as either a left hand or a right hand side assembly.
The dimensions, the 12-1/4" is the diameter, which is measured from this side to this side. If we put a ruler on that, measures 12-1/4" diameter. The width of 3-1/2 inches is the width of the pad on the brake shoe, measures 3-1/2" wide. You'll notice on the back here, it's got the five studs. It is a five bolt brake mounting flange bolt pattern.
Again, it comes with the nuts to attach this to your axle. The wheel size this will accept is anywhere from 15" or larger. That should do it for the review on the Hayes/AL-KO 12-1/4" by 3-1/2" hydraulic drum brake assembly for 9,000 to 12,000 pound axles.

This was a direct replacement part. Looked like OEM equipment. Very strait forward replacement. Etrailer staff was very helpful and was quick at getting the order out to me. Brakes work great! Only issue was one set only had 3 of the 5 nuts in the kit.

Was able to make them work for my older hayes axles, but had to have spacers machined. But that's on me, not on etrailer. Will probably work fine on newer Alko/KH axles

The Hayes/AL-KO Hydraulic Brake Assembly - Duo Servo - 12-1/4" - Left Hand/Right Hand - 9K to 12K item # K23-524-00 will work on 8,000 lbs AL-KO axles if they are 12-1/4" diameter x 3-1/2" wide. You will want to measure your current brakes to confirm if these will fit. There will be no issue running 9k-12k brakes on your 8K axles.

- Correct Replacement Braking Assemblies for an Older Hayes AL-KO 12K AxleI am assuming you're looking for a replacement braking assembly for your older Hayes AL-KO axle. If so, you're going to just need the Hayes/AL-KO Hydraulic Brake Kit - Duo Servo - 12-1/4" # K23-524-00-2 or just # K23-524-00 for one assembly. You mention that you have a 6-bolt mounting flange, and while it's true the older Hayes axles had 6-bolt flanges it only actually used 5 to mount. If you're also needing replacement inner/outer bearings as well as an oil seal, you can use # 28580...

- Correct Braking Assemblies for Haynes Axle with 6 BoltsThe larger Haynes Axles did in fact have a 6 bolt brake mounting flange but the braking assemblies actually only uses five bolts to attach. Therefore, the Hayes/AL-KO Hydraulic Brake Assembly part # K23-524-00 is very what you need. That said, you would need to order a quantity of two in order to cover both sides of the axle as the above part is one for one assembly. If you want to buy both you can simply order two of the above or go with the Hayes/AL-KO Hydraulic Brake Kit part # K23-524-00-2. I...
