Speaker: Today, on our 2003 Ford F-250, well be installing the Curt Trailer Hitch, electric winch mount plate part number C31010. In conjunction with the winch mount plate, well also be installing the Curt Trailer Winch mount handles part number C31005. The winch mount plate accommodates many different sizes as well as styles of electric winches. For todays purposes, well be installing the Superwinch Talon 12.5i winch. This is part number SW1612210. To begin with, were going to go ahead and put the winch mount plate into the rear receiver on this vehicle. Well then go ahead and put the pin and clip in place.
The pin and clip that well be using for todays purposes is part number PC3. Next, its a good idea to get an extra set of hands to help you hold the handles if you set the winch on as the handle mounts will go underneath the winch in-between the winch and the mounting plate. Depending on your exact model of winch will determine which hardware youll use to mount your winch to the mounting plate. In our case, because we added the handles as well as the winch mounting plate we had to get a little bit longer bolt to accommodate the extra length. When changing hardware, always make sure that you use the same grade hardware that comes with your winch mounting kit. Also, because our hardware had a smaller washer on the underside, and the groove and the plate was a little bit larger we went ahead and added a hardened washer underneath here as well to keep the washer from pulling through the plate. Next, were going to go ahead and take the nuts at all four locations and put them into their appropriate pocket area. Well then take the lock washer, followed by the small flat washer, and finally the hardened washer, and well thread it through the bottom, through the handle mount and into the bottom side of the winch.
Well go ahead and do this for both mounting locations here on the one side. We can go ahead and center everything up. Then well repeat it for the other side as well. Then well tighten everything down. Now that we have the four bolts tightened down now were ready to put our roller flare in place. To mount our roller flare, because of how big the groove is in the mounting bracket, were going to go ahead again and add an extra hardened washer here.
Well go ahead and take our bolt and feed it through the back side, and then slide the roller head on to each of the bolts. Once we have it held up, well go ahead and put another washer on followed by the locknut. The bottom roller was loose on one side to allow it to move up and down. That way we can pull our cable through. Once we get our cable pulled through, well go ahead and tighten down this nut so that the cable cannot pull back through. Now that we have our roller flare bolted down, all thats left to do is put the hook on the end of the cable. To do this, simply slide the hook over the end of the cable.
Well go ahead and slide the pin through, and then put the clip in. Once weve done the clip, that will complete the installation of mounting the winch as well as the winch handles to the mounting plate. Part number C31010. .
