Video Transcript for Review of CURT Straight Tongue Trailer Coupler - Replacement Coupler Latch - C25194

Hello, everybody, this is Jeff at etrailer.com. Today, we're going to take a look at this Curt coupler repair kit for the Curt 2" Posi-Lock coupler latches. Now, this kit here will let you replace a broken coupler latch on the Curt Posi-Lock couplers that fit the 2" hitch balls. You can see, there's your latch. That's how you would open it. That's how you lock it.

But just to give you an idea, there's the Curt Posi-Lock couplers that this latch will fit on. If you happen to have a damaged one or a broken one, you can repair it or replace it with this one. Does include the spring nut and the Posi-Lock mechanism, allows for a nice easy adjustment of your connection. And, if you notice, it does have a hole right here, so it will accept a coupler lock that has a pin diameter of up to a quarter of an inch. This is a high strength steel, has a nice sink plate finish on it for corrosion resistance.

But, that should do it for the review on this Curt coupler repair kit for the Curt 2" Posi-Lock coupler latches..

Coupler repair kit for 2" posi-lock coupler latch for Curt straight tongue couplers.

by:

not only it didn't fit as advertised but the return freight was almost the cost of the part. now i have a useless paper weight.

by:

I had a coupler with a bent latch, I thought I would have to replace the entire unit, then I found the repair page for couplers, I compared the parts and bought this one, it is a exact match to my coupler that is not branded. It took 3 minutes to install and adjust. When adjusting it I used a two in ball and tightened the nut on the repair part so it was snug with the ball in the coupler.

by:

I needed to replace a 1985 (34 year old) Fulton Fas-Loc coupler and once again, etrailer had me covered. Easy order, fast ship and works as advertised! Great job!

by:

This item made connecting a whole lot smoother. Once you get the tension set correctly on spring, it works great. Thanks E-Trailer

by:

After searching around for a repair kit I found this one and nobody even comes close to beating the price of E-trailer.

by:

It seems to be heavy duty haven't pulled the trailer with it yet.

by:

I could not be happier. The install was a snap. Adjusting took minutes. The fit on my utility trailer was perfect. This was even better quality than the original, and given that my trailer was built circa 1980, that says a lot, as we were used to good products back then. Would gladly purchase again.

Still happy, still working very well. Will likely purchase from here again when I re-do the one on my popup camper.

Haven’t installed yet

This product can help replace one that is worn out and difficult to latch anymore. The only problem we found was on the packaging, it said to follow instructions, yet there were no instructions. We figured it out though, as the old spring was severely past it's prime and through some old time country know how, we were able to get things to work. We were able to take our boat to the lake and bring it home again without problems after fixing it.

still working... no complaints

by:

The item shiped and arrived in two days. It looks great and will solve my problem.
My coupler lock broke so I could not use my utility trailer. This will give me the service of my trailer again. Thanks, the product is very sturdy and appears very durable.

Eactly what I needed. Has worked very well. Good quality and excellent service.

by:

Locking mechanism where hook latches could be designed better. Snapper pins received were too large in diameter to slide into coupler handle hole. Service has always been excellent.

This replacement latch for curt couplers will take up to a 1/4 inch diameter pin such as part # K-8P.

First time ordering from etrailer and I am very pleased. The price was great, I got the exact part I ordered and needed which was easy to choose because of the product description and great pictures of the product. The part even showed up a day early, with an email telling me the product was delivered.

Product is still working and holding up to the abuse of teenage boys. Thank you

by:

My utility trailer had a hitch handle that someone left in the up position and like always i got stepped on and bent over a week before my camping trip. The local auto parts stores didnt have anything. I found a complete replacement kit to basically rebuild the hitch. Price was great and fast enough for me to get done before my trip. Its been amost a year and we have put a few thousand miles on the trailer since and everything is still working great. (And my friends borrow it a lot and there rough on stuff) i would buy from etrailer again.

by:

Installed in minutes, easy to adjust, still working great after 1 year, even though trailer is stored uncovered outside.

This product is still working great after a year since installed. Expecting many more years of use.

by:

This trailer 2 inch hitch Curt coupler repair kit was very easy to install , and worked great the shipping was fast and it was priced right E trailer is a great place to shop why go any where else. Joe L.

by:

I had been to FIVE different stores looking for what I needed..None had a "straight tongue" or wanted me to replace the whole system. Found you online; seemed way too easy to find and order i.e.too good to be true. Part arrived today..2 days earlier than stated. Installed right away and was exactly what I needed for my 40 year old trailer.

by:

Fast service
Great price
Installed
in 5 minutes
Thanks

by:

Easy to install. Strong as original. Would order another if I needed it.

by:

Product was exactly as shown/written. Customer service terrific. Watched demo(s) of installation and read reviews. Definitely want to watch a demo if you have never attempted before. Spring is stiff and not much room to wiggle fingers. Crawled under to put together but no way. Stood above ball hitch and compressed spring just a bit and put bolt head assembly slightly through spring enough to slip lower female end over ball hitch rod and bingo it was in. Took less then 5 minutes from beginning to end even with my trying on my back in the rocks. Definitely would buy from here again.

by:

I was very pleased to find a quick easy repair part for my small utility trailer hitch. Part fit perfectly, was relatively easy to replace, and the limited instructions were more than adequate.

by:

Totally saved me. When I accidentally broke this part on my trailer I thought that I pretty well had ruined the trailer. Finding this part on here and for such a reasonable price and fast shipping was outstanding. It was an easy install and has served me well. Frankly it works much better than the original hardware. So I consider it an accidental happy upgrade. Thanks etrailer!

by:

I received the product within 7 days and IT WAS SO EASY to install.

by:

There was no disappointment as to the quality of this item. It was heavy duty - in fact, it was heavier duty than the one it replaced. This installed fast and easy.
The additional locking washer underneath was a nice touch as now I can adjust the clamp pressure of the underjaw with a simple twist of the lever-lock on top.
The only drawback is that, as others have also mentioned, it does not come with any instructions. Not that its so hard to figure out but a simple diagram printed on the back of the cardboard insert would have made this a no-brainer to install. Without it I had to do a little fiddling with the parts and a little head-scratching. I know, I know - but in the 10 degree weather it made it longer than it had to be.
I did not use the underjaw as the old one seemed to be a better fit with the underjaw pivot pin - but I saved it just in case.
This cost a third less than other placed I shopped and a great buy all in all.
(But put a dang diagram though!)

by:

I broke the coupler on my trailer and when I purchased this one, I noticed right away it was much more sturdy. When I need to order something I always look for the quality of the product not the price.

  • Can Trailer VIN be Found for Trailer with Faded Sticker
What kind of info are you trying to find out? The VIN for your trailer should be on the bill of sale so if you know where that is you can use that. Otherwise your best bet to get specific info on your boat trailer would be to contact the manufacturer if you know who that is. If you are looking for replacement parts for your trailer just let me know and I can see if we have anything that will be compatible.

  • Locating Trailer VIN
We do not have any type of database from manufacturers with the locations of VINs but oftentimes the VIN is located on the trailer tongue. If you cannot find it there it may be stamped on your trailer's frame somewhere and you will need to check under the trailer athe front on the inboard or outboard side of the frame. Otherwise you will need to contact your local state police or highway patrol who can assign your trailer a VIN.

  • Availability of Replacement Coupler Hardware for 1999 Ram-Lin Trailer
The rebuild kit or replacement coupler parts will depend on who manufactured the coupler on your trailer. If you can closely examine the coupler and find any manufacturer information or model or part numbers, I might be able to track down replacement parts for you. If you cannot see any information on the coupler, you can contact the trailer manufacturer, Ram-Lin out of Orlando Fl. Their phone number is 407-851-1144. If you can provide them with the VIN of your trailer, hopefully they...

  • 2-Inch Surge Brake Coupler Repair Kit for Escort Trailer
My research on Escort trailers revealed a wide range of models produced at many different U.S. manufacturing sites, but I could find no mention of the brands of couplers supplied as original equipment. We do offer coupler repair kits for many brands of couplers, including Shelby, Atwood, Husky, Curt and Dutton-Lainson. For example, part # C25194 is a Latch Repair Kit for 2-Inch Curt couplers. • Can't Find the VIN on a Swartz Gooseneck Double Axle Trailer
Typically the VIN will be located towards the front of the trailer towards the coupler. It is usually placed in a spot where it is less likely to be damaged like on the inside of the frame. If you still cannot locate it then it will be on the bill of sale or you can contact the manufacturer. You can also talk with your local state police or highway patrol about assigning a VIN to your trailer if it doesn't have one.

  • Locating the VIN Number on a Forest River Cherokee CKT21BH Travel Trailer
The VIN on your Forest River Cherokee CKT31BH should be printed into a sticker on the frame just behind the coupler. This is normally found on the driver's side of the travel trailer. The VIN is normally located in a couple of places, so I also recommend checking the inside of your cabinets as that is also a common location. If you cannot find it but happen to find the Serial number, then the manufacturer can help track it down.

  • Length of Trailer Based Off of VIN
If you check out the attached photo you can see that the digits in the 6 and 7 spots indicate the length of the trailer. Your VIN has 09 in those positions so I would have to say that the trailer is 9' long. Unfortunately there is no way for me to tell you what model your trailer is. If you call the trailer manufacturer they should be able to help you out with that.

  • Availability of Latch Repair Kit for Fulton A-Frame Coupler for 2 inch Ball
Fulton hasn't offered as 2 inch ball compatible A-Frame coupler in some years, so they no longer offer a repair kit. I'm sorry to say, I'd give a pretty good chance that the # CA-5100-RK would be a likely fit, but I couldn't guarantee it'll fit. To be absolutely sure, you might think about replacing the coupler with something like # CA-5210-B.

  • Latch Repair Kit for a Fulton Trailer Coupler
The Coupler Repair Kit part # C25194 is designed for Curt trailer couplers that use a 2" hitch ball. Since you have a Fulton trailer coupler I cannot recommend you use this kit. Instead, I recommend taking a look at part # F670801 which is for 44125W and 44150W series couplers or part # F520801 which is for 308 series couplers. For your Nissan Rogue, a 2013 model carried over into 2014, Draw-Tite 2-Inch Class III Hitch # 75902 is a correct fit. This hitch will bolt on using included hardware and requires no drilling or welding. The written installation instructions are linked.
