Note: To ensure proper axle alignment and suspension performance, leaf springs should always be replaced in pairs.

Leaf springs are an integral part of your trailer suspension system. The leaf springs provide the attachment points for your trailer's axle, suspending it from the frame of your trailer. Each spring flexes to absorb road shock as you travel, allowing the axle to move somewhat independently of the rest of your trailer. This helps to reduce wear and tear on the trailer and also ensures a smooth ride.

Double-eye leaf springs attach to hangers that are welded onto your trailer. One end of this spring will attach directly to the hanger with a suspension bolt. The other end will attach to shackle straps that are suspended from a hanger. These straps allow the spring to move and pivot so that it can better compensate for uneven pavement. If you have a tandem- or triple-axle trailer, the shackle straps will be attached to the equalizer that connects multiple springs.

To mount this spring, you will need hangers, shackle straps, and suspension bolts. If you are simply replacing a spring, you may still have hangers welded onto your trailer. You should, however, replace your shackle straps because they are usually the first component to wear out. You may choose to replace old suspension bolts as well. It is recommended that you replace the other leaf spring in your setup at the same time. Because springs can sag and elongate as they wear, this new spring may not exactly match the old one, and the alignment of your trailer could be affected.

If you are fabricating a trailer, you will need to purchase a hanger kit for installation. To determine the type of hanger kit that you need, you must know the specific type of leaf spring that you have, as well as your axle capacity. Depending on the hanger kits used with them, springs can be configured to work for single-, tandem- or triple-axle applications. Hangers and other suspension components can also be purchased separately if there isn't a complete kit that works for your setup.

Perfect replacement springs for our 1967 Shasta Compact Trailer. "Daisy" will ride much nicer (and a tiny bit higher) with her new springs. After checking out all the videos and questions/answers etrailer had on leaf springs and also chatting with the folks on-line, we were confident that we had found the right leaf springs to replace our 57 year old ones.

Product was good, customer service turned me away from being a repeat customer. I ordered the wrong part, once I realized I ordered the wrong leaf spring I called immediately after I placed the order to cancel it and order the right one and was told since I already placed an order I would have to pay a restocking fee that was about 1/2 the price of the leaf spring. I was less than 5 minutes from when I placed the order to when I called to cancel it

i was looking for some springs that were rated for 1750 to 2000 lbs each. i ordered these and when they arrived i saw the tag on each spring then tried to return them but was told i could not. that is terrible customer service !!!! i in turn ordered another set from another supplier.

It sounds to me like you were needing part # e22YR, which is a 2,000 lbs leaf spring for a 4,000 lbs axle. I apologize for any confusion, and the fact that you were unable to return these springs.

I was in need of springs for my boat trailer and went to Etrailer first. I have purchased many items, from tow bars to trailer parts and etrailer has what I need with excellent service, parts and shipping. These springs are new and well built.

by:

Perfect. More perfect if made in USA!

by:

This part is not descriptive enough. I ordered these for a boat trailer. Axle is 2000 lbs. The boat weighs around 1400 lbs. These springs are only rate for 1000 lbs each. To me, that should be in the description. I had to place another order and have to take off the new spring and put the new order springs on. Thanks.

Whoah! Hang onto those springs! For a single 2000 pound axle trailer, each spring would be rated as 1000 pounds since 2 springs are used per axle. It is extremely common with boat trailers, especially.

  • Availability of 26 inch Long Trailer Axle Leaf Spring for 2,000 lb Axle
The 1-3/4 inch spring width is the most common width seen on trailers. Yours being 2 inch is pretty rare but possible. We don't have anything that matches your length and capacity but we do have the part # e77SR which is 26 inches long, for a 2,000 lb axle but is 1-3/4 inches wide. To use this you could use 1/4 inch thick washers on your current hanger bolt to take up the extra room or you could go with a narrower width hanger setup like # APS4.

  • Recommended Leaf Spring Replacements for a Trailer with a 3,500 Pound Axle
With the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring - 26" Long # e77SR having an axle capacity of 2,000 pounds, each spring is actually only rated to 1,000 pounds. These technically can be used, but you will most likely bottom out when driving under load. With that being said, I suggest either going with 3,500 pound axle springs, or something a little heavier duty if your current springs are not getting the job done. The closest 3,500 pound option we currently have is the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 3,500-lb...

All of the products you listed will work together just fine. Keep in mind, if your current springs are not 26 inch springs, like the # e77SR you referenced, your hangers, # APS4, will not be in the exact same position as your current ones. When repositioning everything the most important factor is keeping the axle in the same location it currently is. The U-Bolt Kit # APUBR-10 is correct for a 2,000 pound axle and the Shackle Bolt # 166081 will work too. It's hard to tell by the picture...

For leaf springs the 4-Leaf Double-Eye Spring for 2,000-lb Trailer Axles # e77SR are going to be our closest to your weight rating and length. • How to Determine the Correct Replacement Double-Eye Trailer Leaf Spring for a Boat Trailer
A trailer leaf spring will wear out over time and the wear will likely lengthen the spring. Therefore, the correct replacement leaf spring will likely be shorter than the leaf spring you have on your trailer now depending on the amount of wear that has occured. If the leaf springs you have on your trailer now are 26-1/2" long from the center of each eyelet, I recommend using a 26" long leaf spring like part # e77SR for 2,000 lb, part # e27SR for 4,500 lbs, or part # e94SR for 6,000 lbs. • Leaf Spring Recommendation for Older Trailer with 30 inch Springs
30 inch long leaf springs are longer than what we have replacements for so the only option we'd have would be for you to move your hangers and go with a properly rated leaf spring for the axle capacity. For a similar rated leaf spring we have the part # e77SR which will work great as it is for a 2k axle and the springs are 1-3/4 inch wide like you have as well.

The right one is going to depend on some measurements though, as there isn't a spring designed specifically for any axle. • Leaf Spring Recommendation to Replace 27 inch Long Spring on Camper with 1,500 lb Trailer Weight
Length-wise the leaf spring part # SP-210275 that you referenced is about right at 27 inches. Since your trailer only weighs 1,500 lbs though this is going to give you a somewhat rough ride quality. A better option would be # e77SR most likely as it has a 2,000 lb axle weight rating and is 26 inches long. I know that's an inch shorter than what you listed, but leaf springs stretch out over time as they wear out so your 27 inch springs were most likely a bit shorter when new like this spring.

  • Replacement 26 Inch Double Eye Leaf Springs and Hardware
26 inch leaf springs have different capacities and aren't based on the number of leaves directly so it is better to determine the axle capacity and then get the 26 inch springs appropriate for that capacity regardless of the number of leaves. These springs would be overkill for a boat weighing up to 1,900 pounds and it would be a very stiff and jarring ride for your boat.
