Product was as advertised, however it was missing four bolts that I had to get at a hardware store, but other than that it was fine. Service from etrailer team was outstanding.

by:

I've been using the product for two summers now and it is perfect for what I'm using it for. My canoe is an Old Town Discovery 133, it's very wide and I initially had trouble fitting it in the brackets with how relatively narrow my Rav4 is, but the instructions that came with them mentioned I could just flip them around. That worked perfectly.

I only use the brackets and the tie down straps from the kit to tie the boat to the crossbars, and then use the painter lines I put on the bow and stern of the boat to tie those to the car. That rides on the highway very easily with no shifting. With two people, the load/unload time is around 10 minutes as long as one person knows what they are doing.

This kit had exactly what I was looking for, seems built to last, and if I ever need another kit to help tie a canoe to a car then I know I can trust this product to get the job done safely and reliably.

1 year later and I havent even taken the brackets off of my car. They are still in perfect condition, dont slip, and Ive never had an issue hauling my canoe on the highway. Easiest way to transport a canoe without an actual canoe trailer.

by:

I purchased the product to make it possible to haul a 30+ year-old White fiberglass canoe on the standard roof-rack of a 2013 Subaru Outback. The kit works very well, but some experimentation was involved. Due to the tapering width of the canoe, I use haul kit with the front guides reversed to face the inside of the canoe gunwhales. In the back the guides are used as intended, facing the outside of the gunwhales.

by:

works great and don't slip on crossbar.

by:

The canoe brackets are well made, sturdy and really cling in place on the round cross bars. We've used them several times and like them a lot. The only problem, apparently due to the COVID-19 pandemic, was that it took over three months to arrive.

by:

Great! Good quality worked great

by:

it is a decent cheap solution to putting a canoe on a factory rack. with some fiddling around i got the brackets onto my 99 explorer crossbars. the canoe goes on easily and you can really make it very secure using all the straps and tie-downs that are included. the bad thing is it is difficult to get canoe down by yourself it has to be lifted up and over the Keelover brackets. two people- no problem

by:

Easy to install with Ikea-like instructions. It held a heavy 15' fiberglass canoe to the top of my 2013 Subaru perfectly for more than 1000 miles. I checked the straps at every stop and only had to tighten them once, and not very much at that. Excellent system when using the factory roof rack. Etrailer.com was great at answering my questions and ensuring that I got what I needed.

by:

Managers at Scheels Store were impressed with the product and how easily it adapted on the vehicle (99 GMC Yukon) and how the canoe easily mated and secured onto the carrier. It was a lot better product for carrying canoes than was offered by Cabellas or Scheels. It secured our new canoe perfectly for our drive home 65 miles away. No shifting or loosening of the tie-downs. Top Notch.

by:

In 2015 I purchased roof racks and a t hitch for my new Tahoe. The purpose was to allow me to load and haul a canoe. I love the products. Ordering and delivery could not have been easier.

by:

Very happy with the product. I had a hard time finding clips for my factory luggage rack that would hold my wood strip securely in place on the roof of my CRV. These clips are perfect and the price was outstanding since the kit included all of the straps as well. I've never used etrailer before but I've since bookmarked them for future use.

by:

ETrailer.com is awesome. I'm not real happy with the road Yakima is going down but I've been using their racks for over 30 years. ETrailer's service and prices are great!

by:

Just received product, but I'm enthusiastic about putting it to use to standardize my kayak transport.

Good service from etrailer.

by:

While this wasn't the product we originally ordered, this is the replacement. It works as well and secures just as easy as the older model.

by:

Easy to install and very secure.

  • Recommended Roof Rack and Track System for Truck Topper to Carry Canoe on 2012 Toyota Tundra CrewMax
We can get you the parts needed to install a roof rack on your truck topper so you can haul your canoe. There are advantages to systems in regards to quality and value, and for your application the best fit is from Rhino-Rack, who is known for their quality, which is consistent with other brands, but often not with as high a price tag. What I recommend is: - Rhino-Rack Aero Bar Roof Rack for Camper Shells - Track Mount # Y02-490B This will give you 59 inch crossbars on your camper shell,...

  • Can Yakima Rack And Roll Trailer Carry A 16 Ft Canoe
I went to our warehouse and took some measurements of the Yakima Rack And Roll Trailer, part # Y08107. I have attached a photo of the trailer with the dimensions shown. From the center of the hitch ball coupler to the center of the front crossbar in its forward most position it measures 83 inches. The crossbars can be spread 48 inches. This would give you 1-1/2 inches of trailer behind the rear crossbar. That means 70 inches of your canoe will hang off the back of the trailer if you place...

The Vortex bars will work with your kayak carrier, canoe carrier, and cargo box. It sounds like...

  • Front Hitch For Carrying Canoes On A 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4
In addition to the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # C31023 for your 2012 GMC Sierra, you are correct that you will also need at least a single roof rack bar like the Darby Turbo rack # DTA968 and a carrier like the LongArm # Y01149-1150 that can tilt down making it easier to load the canoe. It also has an anti-rattle hitch bolt which is something that is needed for these types of carriers. Without an anti-rattle hitch bolt or device there is a lot of movement with these carriers. For...

That would be a pretty long canoe to carry on a vehicle roof that is also towing a camper. Without knowing more about that camper you are towing the best route is probably a roof rack on the camper. If it's a pop up we have the # S80510 which would provide a 7 foot long crossbar set for the roof of the camper. Then for a canoe carrier we have the part # Y04069 which would allow you to carry the boat upside down. Could you get me more info on the camper? How long is it? How tall? Maybe...

  • Does Yakima KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier Work on Factory Roof Rack of 2017 Honda Odyssey
I checked with Yakima and the KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier # Y04069 will fit the factory roof rack of your 2017 Honda Odyssey. A roof rack means you would have crossbars that go across the vehicle, like in the accompanying photo. I wasn't sure from your wording if you actually have a roof rack with crossbars on your '17 Odyssey or just the raised rails on the side. The KeelOver will require your '17 Odyssey to have some kind of roof rack system and if you don't have the factory rack,...

The Yakima KeelOver canoe carrier, # Y04069, will fit on crossbars are up to 3-1/2 inches tall x 3-1/2 inches wide so it shouldn't be a problem. The Thule Portage canoe carrier, # TH819, would also fit since it will fit round, square, aero, elliptical, and most factory crossbars. The 1-5/8 inch round bars would not be a problem for this carrier. Another option is to use universal foam blocks # RL100K10. These are basically just foam blocks for cutout for the the bars and for the canoe sides.

In order to haul a 17' long aluminum canoe and tow a trailer with your 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD, I have two options for you. The first option would be to place part of the canoe on the roof and the other part on a t-load carrier at the rear. For this, I recommend using the Yakima JetStream Crossbars System (Double/Crew Cab Only) which is composed of part # Y00426, part # Y28TR, and part # Y06122 with the Yakima KeelOver Rooftop Canoe Carrier part # Y04069. For a saddle style that does not require that, I recommend the Swagman Exo Aero Rooftop Kayak Carrier System with Tie-Downs - Saddle Style - Universal Mount # S65145.
