Mounting Diagram

Pulse Medium

The Thule Pulse Medium cargo box is a economical way to carry anything from groceries and gardening equipment to small duffel bags and carry-on luggage for 2 - 3 people on your roof rack crossbars. The box provides enclosed storage for your gear on weekend getaways or when transporting everyday items.

Easy-Grip Mounting Hardware

Mounting the Pulse Medium is a tool-free operation thanks to the Easy-Grip hardware. Just throw the box on your roof, insert the Easy-Grip clamps into the rubber-lined mounting slots in the bottom of the box, center the clamps over your crossbars, and turn the knobs to tighten them down.

These hand knobs are mounted in tracks so that they can be repositioned for vehicles with shorter roofs. Simply slide the hand knobs to the desired position and give them a spin.

The Easy-Grip assemblies also include anchor points for securing your cargo. Just loop the included cargo straps through the anchor points and pull the straps tight to secure your gear.

Aerodynamic Design

The Pulse Medium has an extremely low profile and an aerodynamic shape that helps to reduce drag and wind noise when the box is mounted on your roof rack.

Single-Side-Opening Lid

The Pulse Medium features a single-side-opening lid so you can safely load your gear from the passenger's side of your vehicle. And a built-in strap makes it easy to lift and close the lid.

SecureLock

The cargo box has an oversize SecureLock on the passenger's side. This specially designed lock prevents you from removing the key if the box is not properly closed and locked. This eliminates the possibility of the box coming open as you travel down the road. And the lock includes a Thule One-Key-System core so you can swap it out to make all your Thule accessories keyed alike.

Rugged Construction

This cargo box is constructed of rugged ABS plastic that resists impact, weather, and harsh UV rays. And the matte black finish adds a touch of style when the box is mounted on your roof.

I can see why people consider the box a bit flimsy, especially when you do not have it secured to the car and nothing is inside. That’s normal. For this to weigh 34 lbs and yet to be wall sturdy and provide waterproof conditions that the bag cannot, it has to be lightweight. Once we attached it to the car at 4 points, it wasn’t going anywhere and was instantly sturdy. I wouldn’t roughhouse with the locks or opening it up and down with force however. Also, 14 cu for a sedan is plenty. Anything larger and you are looking to push the limits.

The Thule product of any kind has always been a pleasure to deal with. The roof rack box is no different. Some find it a bit wobbly at set up or while empty but I understand that’s necessary. If it had been stiff that means it’s already too heavy by itself. This box is easy to put on and remove. It packs a lot. We had so much room in the trunk afterwards we end up taking more stuff we probably don’t need. Haha anyway, I recommend for sure!

by:

Overall, we are pleased with this carrier. My husband and son installed it easily on my 2017 Honda Pilot, and I could still use my sunroof. The only noise was when it was empty and we hit one big bump. 99.9% of the time, it was not possible to detect the carrier was there. It did not seem to effect gas mileage either. It did not get 5 stars for the combination of price and quality. For the cost, I might have expected it to be a little less flimsy feeling, and a little more precisely constructed. However, once in use, these minor issues disappeared. We use it for luggage holding clothing, and it held 2 large pieces with room to spare. Overall, we are satisfied. However, do not forget you need space to store it when not in use !

We are very happy with this box, although we have not used it too often. It was silent when driving, even when empty. It locked securely and did not leak. It also held more than I expected. Very satisfued.

by:

Bought this box to hold camping gear while on a cross country road trip. You can put quite a bit of stuff in it. Held securely to roof rack and kept contents dry. I liked that the key could not be removed if lid wasn’t completely closed. Minimal affect on gas milage.

by:

This box worked perfectly on my 2016 Acura MDX with the factory rails. The clamps that secure the box to the rails are adjustable. Fortunately I am tall and loading and unloading the box doesn’t pose an issue. I used the box for a camping trip and a vacation where I needed free space inside.
There wasn’t a significant drop in gas mileage or issues when I traveled at 70 mph.

by:

Fantastic carrier. Mounted on Malone crossbars on our 2023 Subaru Forester Wilderness. Drove 500 miles without any noise or changes in drivability of car. Got 28+ MPG round trip. Very roomy, great locking mechanism and the mounting hardware is so simple and convenient. etrailers shipping was fast and merchandise arrived early and in excellent condition. 5 star service and product!

by:

Easy to mount on rails, holds a lot of stuff, nothing inside got wet in a deluge at 60 mph, locks securely.

by:

Product arrive well packaged and undamaged.

Thule
Pulse Medium fit my 2023 Hyundai Kona vehicle perfectly.

Awesome experience ordering, purchasing and reviewing information on etrailer website. Information on fit and placement on vehicle was critical.

by:

Holds up after a year parked on the street. Holds tons of extra bags. Expect some noise. Very happy with this purchase

by:

Could not be better. Really affords a secure way to transport you don’t need in vehicle cabin. Worth the $

by:

We were only able to use the carrier for two trips before the key broke off inside the lock. We took it to a local locksmith who was able to drill it out to get it open, but we cannot secure it or use it now. We called your customer service line beforehand but were told there was no solution. So, we still have it but cannot use it. Sorry such a large expense so quickly down the drain.

If the cylinder that holds the lock core was undamaged, you can simply replace the lock core. You can get a matching lock for the one you already have as part # THLOCKN070.

I ordered the Thule Pulse medium rooftop cargo box. We did have a little delay in receiving the product beyond what was expected. When we ordered, we were advised it would ship in six weeks as it was back ordered This was okay for my needs. Then we received messages a couple times that pushed it out over a month longer. I contacted customer service and was advised it was due to the fact that the payment needed to be reauthorized as it had been too long. I explained I received an email when that happened and immediately took care of that. Apparently, according to the customer service person I spoke with, this pushed my order behind others that had ordered after I had. He did push things along and I fortunately received it before our scheduled trip.
It was easy to mount to my wife’s Jeep Cherokee. It is very sturdy and easily accommodated our dogs bed and supplies and luggage for three of us for a four day trip. It was much quieter on expressway travel than I expected. And when we returned home it was very easy to remove and store.
So the bottom line, customer service was helpful in resolving the delay issue, the product is of good quality and was exactly what we needed. Installation and removal was easy and storage space was sufficient. It was easy to position the box for easy passenger side loading and without interference with the lift gate.

Got this unit to put on my Tesla Model 3. I have a stock Tesla roof rack on the car and this cargo bin mounted to it perfectly. The materials and workmanship of the unit are standard THULE quality, which is to say, very good. It feels kind of "wobbly" when one has it on the floor or table, but that's to be expected when there's no roof rack underneath to help make the bottom clamshell rigid. The brackets that hold the shell open for loading also feels kind of "loose," but they actually work quite well, so I assume this is by-design. It was hard to find the keys when this arrived (they were taped with clear tape in a bottom corner of the shipping bag), and since the unit came locked, this was a bit distressful. but I eventually found them and all is fine. It's a fine storage bin.

by:

I took a trip across country with my Bernese Mtn dog. I live in Wyoming and drove to NJ for a family vacation. The great roof top carrier held everything, including linens for all six people, the dog's food, she gets special feedings, and all the clothes and equipment I needed for three weeks. It rained during the trip, downpour actually, and everything in the contain stayed dry. I love this box!

by:

I was happy with my order and the communication with etrailer. The packaging was excellent and delivery was excellent. The Thule Pulse rooftop cargo box is a good fit for our 2019 Toyota Highlander.

by:

It's the perfect size for the Subaru Outback. Sturdy, light, simple and elegant design. The newer mounting hardware makes it very easy to put on and take off.

I understand what you are saying. The roof box lids do seem flimsier than what you expect, but it is to cut down on weight, as the box cannot be too heavy to not be able to get it on top of the roof. This is true for all brands that I have seen.

by:

The on time delivery was much appreciat ed.

by:

I couldn’t find one locally. I was afraid with the current nation wide shipping issues it would take months to get it. Surprisingly it came in 1 week. Delivery company contacted me with a time and they were on time. Easy transaction.

by:

Unfortunately came defective, the front of the box opened up on our 2700 mile trip across the state

  • Will Thule Pulse Medium Rooftop Cargo Box Fit 2021 Toyota Corolla Hatchback
I have good news because I can confirm that your 2021 Toyota Corolla hatchback is absolutely compatible with the Thule cargo box you asked about: - Thule Pulse Medium Rooftop Cargo Box # TH614 The Pulse will fit if you have the factory roof rack on your '21 Corolla hatchback, or you can add an aftermarket roof rack, which will also work. If you go that route I recommend going with Rhino-Rack because they have the same high quality as other "name" brands but at a better price. The correct...

I spoke with my contact at Thule regarding the Pulse Cargo Box, # TH614, and your 2010 Subaru Outback Wagon with factory installed pivoting side rails/cross bars. She stated that the cargo box is a direct fit for your factory cross bars. You will be able to open the rear hatch with, at most, minimal interference depending on how you adjust the box when mounting it (more forward would mean more clearance at the rear). The sunroof will not be functional as the box when installed will prevent...

  • Roof Mounted Cargo Box Recommendation for 2013 Honda CR-V w/ OEM Crossbars
None of the Roof Mounted Cargo Boxes we offer from Yakima, Thule, Prorack, Rhino Rack, SportRack or Whispbar would include crossbars, so there should be no problem. Your CR-V has a pretty short roof on it, so you'll want to avoid getting a cargo box that's so long that you can't open the rear vehicle hatch without the hatch hitting the rear of the cargo box. The Thule Pulse, part # TH614 is a likely fit, but you'd want to take a measurement off your vehicle roof to confirm fit. Measure...

If you need to carry long objects like skis, and the fact that you will need to be careful opening the hatch does not bother you, the Pulse Alpine would work for you. Yes, you can mount the Thule Pulse Cargo Box, # TH614, off center toward the passenger side of your Prius V.
