Thule Cargo Box Recommendation for a 2012 Volkswagen Golf Hatchback
Question:
I have a 2012 VW Golf TDI 4 door with hatchback, so 5 door. I am looking for a cargo carrier for it and would like to know the larger I could fit. I see many good reviews in Thule products. I was looking at the Force L and XL or the Sonic M or XL. The video you guys show of the Sonic M stated as Sonic L in video looks to have a bunch of room behind the box. Would the XL fit? I dont want something too big or to hang over the windshield area. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I also have the factory VW OEM racks rated at ~160 lbs.

The Thule roof cargo boxes are among the nicest cargo boxes on the market. I know you would be happy with a Force box like you mentioned. The sizing labels did change recently so I apologize for any confusion between the stated size in the video and what the product page says. More important that that though is the dimensions and cargo space of the boxes.
For your size vehicle the Thule Pulse part # TH614 would be a great fit that is actually confirmed to fit by Thule. I attached a video that shows this, but when we test fit this box on a similar 2010 hatchback Golf we found that it fit the roof well and allowed the hatch to open.
