Rooftop Cargo Box or Cargo Basket for 2017 Honda CR-V With Factory Roof Rack

Question:

We have a 2017 Honda CRV Touring model with factory install rails and crossbars. The crossbars are in a fixed position and can’t be adjusted. Also, the cargo box must not interfere with the antenna and we do not want to remove the antenna when using the cargo box. What is the best Cargo Box? We would prefer a Thule but would consider a Sport Rack

The best cargo box is definitely going to be a Thule, and there are a number that I have confirmed will fit the factory crossbars of your 2017 Honda CR-V. The biggest issue is going to be antennae interference because even the shortest rooftop cargo box that fits, the Thule Sidekick Roof Mounted Cargo Carrier Box # TH78GC, is 54 inches long and may interfere with your antenna. The Sidekick cargo box would be your best option in regards to fit, with the 67 inch long Thule Pulse Medium Rooftop Cargo Box # TH614 the next best, though there is no guarantee that it will not interfere with the antenna on your '17 CR-V.

Another option to check out is the Thule Canyon XT Roof Cargo Basket # TH859XT which I also confirmed will fit your CR-V and is 49" long x 40" wide x 6" tall and which absolutely will not interfere with your antenna because it has mounting hardware which you can position wherever you like on the bottom of the basket. I strongly recommend adding the Thule One-Key System Lock Cylinders # TH450400 to lock the basket to your roof rack and help protect your investment.

To carry gear on this basket I strongly recommend the Thule Interstate Rooftop Cargo Bag # TH869 because it has integrated straps to secure to the basket and gives you 16 cubic feet of cargo space - double that of the Sidekick cargo box.

I have added links to a number of video reviews for you to check out on these products.
