Cargo boxes, bags, and baskets are great for transporting gear on your vehicle's roof. A cargo box has the added benefits of an aerodynamic shape that reduces drag and wind noise, a hard shell to protect your gear, and a higher degree of weather resistance. And you can latch and lock a cargo box for added protection against theft.
The Shadow has 13 cu ft of storage space for golf bags, luggage, skis, snowboards, and other gear. The aerodynamic, low-profile design helps to reduce drag and wind noise, and the locking lid conveniently opens from either side of your vehicle. The box has internal tie-down points for securing cargo, and the Quick Mount system offers easy, tool-free installation.
The Shadow's lid is constructed of durable, 2-layer ABS plastic. This makes it resistant to impacts, scratches, warping, cracking, and UV rays. The base is formed using an SPM injection-molding process that makes the box strong, durable, and lightweight. The injection molding also ensures a uniform thickness throughout, and it's 50 percent stronger than a box with a vacuum-formed base.
The Shadow lid opens from both sides for easy access to your cargo. This ensures your gear is always close at hand whether you mount the box in the center of your roof or closer to the driver's or passenger's side.
The lid includes push buttons that allow you to easily open it with a single hand.
The Shadow has a safety lock system with locks on each side of the lid. The keys cannot be removed unless the box is closed and locked. This prevents you from driving off with an unlocked box. The locks also deny would-be thieves access to your gear and the cargo box's mounting hardware.
The Shadow installs easily with Quick Mount clamps. The clamps adjust along tracks in the bottom of the box to accommodate different crossbar spreads.
To install, simply center the clamp base over your crossbar, insert the mounting bolt into the base, wrap it around the bar, and slide it into the hole on the other side of the base. Secure the bolt in place with a hand knob.
Spacers built into the mounting clamps can be adjusted to accommodate different crossbar widths. Simply rotate the spacer and re-install the bolt to accommodate wide crossbars.
Two included tie-down straps let you secure your gear to 4 internal anchor points built into the mounting clamps. Simply thread the nylon straps through anchor rings on the mounting clamps and wrap them around your gear. The straps secure with buckles that can be opened and closed with one hand.
Two strap hooks are also included. These hooks attach to the underside of the box lid and provide a place to hang the straps to keep them out of the way as you're loading cargo.

Great cargo box. Arrived early, fits on my 2013 Toyota Highlander with no issues. Fits through my garage door too which is exactly what I was looking for.
We used this box for the trip to FL last year. I like the slim design so it has no problem with the wind and looks nice on the roof. Fit 2 small luggages, 2 compact strollers and some small items.
Excellent cargo box. Came in 1.5in under my 7 ft garage door at the tallest point near back. The distant from crossbar I had to spare was just under 14". I think this box said it was 13 3/8 clearance from crossbar.
My setup was on fixed side rails with Thule Flushed Edge Crossrails installed with Fit Kit 183160 on the 2019 CX-5.
My box did come several days early with no update or call. So be watch out since they need a signature for delivery.
The cargo box packaging was destroyed, mine was damaged after removing the plastic wrap but no cracks! Small chunk dented away on top edge but not visible from floor. And a 1in. creased dent under my groot sticker :) !
I received the Inno on Friday and set it up this weekend. It looks fantastic! I really think it's the best designed cargo box for Subarus.

All good. Fits under 7 ft garage door on my Mazda CX9. Only negative is the steel attachment bolts that threaten roof scratches while taking the box on or off. For another $300 - $400 you can get better attachments from Yakima or Thule. Inno Shadow 16 is a great value. Service and delivery first class.

I love this roof cargo box! I have it on top of my 4Runner and I use it as extra cargo space for when I'm going ice fishing or camping. Easy to get in and pull out what is needed from both sides.
The employees at etrailer have been very excellent in their communication with us. This model was sold out and they offered a different, similar model. We decided to wait for this one and etrailer sent it to us as soon as it was in stock. Great customer service
This is a great roofbox. I believe it's an older model than they one listed as 2020, I bought it anyway b/c I liked it's slightly narrower profile and thought it looked a lot better than the new one, which is matte and slightly ungainly. Just thought this would look better on my car. The clamps on the 2020 are greatly improved. These are effective, but just take more fiddling to install and remove. But since I plan to remove the box sparingly, that was not a deal breaker for me.
Delivery was via courier, which required someone to be at home to sign for it. This was slightly inconvenient, as I was not aware of this when I ordered. I was only aware of it the day before when the delivery company called me. I had to reschedule by a week. They would not offer me any way to sign a document in advance saying they could just drop it off, which was also annoying.
So, the product was Excellent. etailer was Excellent, apart from the delivery partner they chose and the fact that they didn't specify how delivery would work.
It was a very good experience ordering from eTrailer. The item was shipped quickly and arrived in great shape. The Inno Shadow 16 was easy to install and seems of very good quality. I look forward to using it.
Perfect size for our Subaru Crosstrek with factory crossbars. Box is well made. Etrailer had the best price I could find. Shipping went well. Only negative is the attachment clamps are a little hard to deal with. Not something I would want to install and remove on a weekly basis.
This is one of the few roof boxes we could find that fits on my daughter's 2013 Toyota Highlander and allows the hatch to open all the way, and would fit under their standard garage door. Was easy to install, seems solid on the rack and is quiet at speed. So far so good. Four Stars because I don't give anything five...perfection should remain elusive. Also kudos to etrailer! FREE shipping when others ask $[XXX] to ship a roof box, and while it was delayed due to supply chain issues sent a weekly email update and offered an alternate product. Outstanding service.

I only have one reservation about the box and that is that it does not have metal reinforcement where the clamps mount in the adjustable slides.

We love this box! It fits our Subaru Impreza perfectly. It can hold snowboards, small skis, waterskis, and even a surfboard. Never notice any sound from the box when on the freeway either. The dual side opening and sleek size is why we bought this unit and am very pleased.

I've been thoroughly pleased with this cargo box, I have it mounted on my Audi Q5. I use it to store camping gear in when I go camping, mostly the bulkier, dirtier or wet items that I don't want to put inside my car, like wheel leveling blocks, tarp, camping table and chairs, wellie boots, etc. An added bonus is it looks very sleek and stylish on top of the Audi.
This box worked great! When I first put it on my Jeep, I was a little skeptical because I didn't know if it was going to be tall enough to fit my large travel bags. Well, as it turns out, there was plenty of room! I was able to get 3 large duffle bags, two book bags, and 2 fishing poles. The straps that Inno provides with the box were great! I was worried about putting my computer back pack up there because I didn't want it sliding around, but the straps kept everything nice and secure. Another great thing is this box is water tight! With everything, you never really know how "watertight" something really is. Well, It rained off and on almost the whole trip and everything stayed dry. Lastly is the locking function. One of my favorite things about this box was that there is a button you have to use to open it. This same button notifies you when the box is closed. With other cargo boxes, you have to try and press down the lid while you lock it. Well, with this one, I just close the lid and it "locks" then you can use the key to actually lock it. It may sound funny, but when you are trying to pack that one extra item and get as much stuff in there as you can, this function helps out sooooo much. Especially when you are up there balancing on your tire! Overall, very satisfied with this box!
