Video Transcript for Review of Spectro Wiring - SWC501915-1

Today we're going to take a look at the closed port quick splice self stripping connector in the yellow color. This is for a quantity of one. Now this closed port quick splice self stripping connector is designed to splice into an existing wire without having to cut, crimp, or strip. Provides an open channel on the front to attach to your existing wire and a closed channel in the back for the tap wire to go into. You can see it has this metal blade on it that's attached, to pierce the wires in each of the channels of the connector to make your connection. And their appliers needed to squeeze down on that blade after your wires are placed in there. I am going to demonstrate this, how it connects, at the end of this video.

This is for a quantity of one connector. The gauge wire this will fit is 10 to 12 gauge wire size. Maximum power rating, 600 volts. And again we're going to demonstrate, so I happen to have, let's say this is our existing wiring. So what you'll do is just push this into the front for the existing wiring, and then you want to tap this wire into that existing wiring. You'll just put that in the back one and it's a closed port, because if you noticed it won't let the wire go through in the back.

You just push it in all the way and it'll keep it right there. And then what you'll want to do once you have your two wires in there, just take your pliers, put it onto that blade, push that blade all the way down. There you go.And then once you pushed it all the way down, that'll connect your two wires. And then you'll have this cover portion that you just flip down and it snaps into place to cover it, protect it. And there you've tapped a wire into your existing wires.

Simple as that. But that should do it for the review on the closed port quick splice, self stripping connector in yellow for a quantity of one.

  • Directions for wiring a 4-Way to 7-Way Blade Trailer Wiring Adapter
To wire the 4-Way round to 7-Way blade wiring adapter, item # 37185, on your 1989 GMC CK series pickup you will need to plug the existing 4-Way connector into the 4-way connector provided at the rear of the # 37185 connector and then hard wire the remaining 4 wires. If you do not have an existing 4-Way connector you will need to install one with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4 Pole Trailer Connector, item # 118315. The white wire is the ground wire and should be connected to a...

  • Recommended LED Light Bar for an Enclosed Snowmobile Trailer
I can help you with lighting up your enclosed snowmobile trailer. I would recommend the Optronics Opti-Brite # ILL08COB. This light produces 1400 Lumens so it would be very bright. The dimensions of the lens of this light are 4 by 16-1/2 inches. If you wanted more of a bar light I would recommend the Optronics Thinline Opti-Brite LED # ILL72CB, this light has 27 diodes and puts out 513 effective lumens. This light measures 21-7/8 inches long by 1 inch wide by 5/8 inches thick. Watts...

  • Wiring a Side Marker Light to the Running Light Wire on a Trailer
You can run a jumper wire to T-off from the main running light wire to the side marker light using something like a quick splice connector, # SWC501915-1. Or you can use a butt connector, # 05732-2. In one end, place the wire from the trailer connector and in the other end insert the wire from the side marker light and the wire to the tail light. You would need to cut the brown wire at some point to wire it in this manner. And yet another option is to run the side marker wire all the...

  • Determining Factory Wire Color Functions for Brake Controller Port on 2016 Ram 3500
The easiest way to install your Tekonsha Prodigy P3 # 90195 is to use the Tekonsha Plug-In Wiring Adapter # 3024-P. This adapter will not require and cutting or splicing into your 2016 Ram 3500's factory wiring. If you need to hardwire install the controller, I can help you determine which wire colors carry which functions on the vehicle side brake controller installation port in your 2016 Ram 3500. Since we know which pins carry each function on the custom wiring harness # 3024-P, we...

  • How Large Of Battery Can Hopkins Trailer Breakaway Kit Battery Charger # 20011 Trickle Charge
I contacted our representative at Hopkins and he informed me that the Trailer Breakaway Kit Battery Charger, part # 20011 can charge batteries of different sizes, even large batteries, it will just take a bit longer. He informed me that part # 20011 will trickle charge your regular 12 volt battery just fine. If you do have the vehicle battery connected directly to the battery on trailer it will keep sending power to the battery even after the battery is charged, which could be bad for...

The reverse light signal that is typically used to activate a camera like this (so that it will function as a backup camera) is among the signals included in this type of wiring set-up. • How To Install a Trailer Wiring Harness to a 2011 Toyota RAV4
You will not want to connect your trailer wiring directly to the wiring harness of your 2011 Toyota RAV4. You will need to isolate the trailer wiring from the vehicles sensitive circuitry, so it does not put a strain on the system and cause your vehicles wiring harness to be overloaded and fail. I would recommend to use the Tow Ready T-One Wiring Harness, part # 118412. This wiring harness will plug into connectors located behind the vehicles tail lights and comes with a powered Modulite...

If you have a different brand of adapter, you can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993, to test the wires for function. I would recommend measuring where you will be running the wire to order the correct amount, and it would be a good idea to order a couple extra feet so that you are not short of wiring. • Troubleshooting Trailer Connection Wiring on 2013 Chevrolet Silverado
It sounds like you are having an issue with the ground on your 7-way trailer connection. The first thing to do is use a little sand paper or steel wool and clean the connections of your 7-way. Then add some dielectric grease # 11755 to keep the connections clean and free of moisture. If that doesn't solve your ground connection, then you will simply trace the wire harness from the back side of your 7-way to find where it is physically connected to the truck frame. • Wiring the 12volt Feed and Back-Up Wires to the Trailer connector on a 1995 Ford F-150
It sounds like you have checked things out pretty good. I think you are correct in your findings, but I would use a multi-meter and a extra length of wire to make sure that the orange and black wires are ran from the front to the rear of the vehicle. Set the multi-meter to continuity and, at the front of the vehicle, connect one probe to the extra wire and the other to the orange wire. Have a helper touch the other end of the extra wire to the orange wire at the rear of the vehicle. If...

Your 2015 American Coach Revolution motor home, built on a Freightliner chassis, does have a brake controller port under the dash but we do not have a quick-connect plug-in harness to connect it to a brake controller like the excellent Prodigy P3, part # 90195. The item that you selected, Tekonsha P3 Trailer Brake Controller, part # 90195, will work for electric over hydraulic unit, like the Hydrastar. I would recommend using the Tekonsha P3 Brake Controller as it has digital display and can troubleshoot problems. • Identifying Type of Brake Wire and Connectors Used on Trailer Brakes
The wire is likely just a version of automotive wire that is made more rigid so that it is easier to route it through tight spaces. Or it could be shielded wire or even cross-link wire. If you need some wire for electric brakes you can use # 10-1-1. The connector sounds like it might be a quick splice connector such as # SWC501915-1 also known as a Scotch Lock which is the 3M name brand.

The next place to look is under the hood at the power distribution block. The power wire is connected to a ground stud at the front of the power distribution block, see link.
