Worked great!

by:

easy way to tie in new break-a-way brake controller

by:

I use these for repairing and installing new trailer wires. Waterproof sealant works great keeping moisture out of connection and preventing corrosion.

by:

The product was exactly as it was described and worked exactly as expected

by:

Nothing special. It works as expected.

It
does not however match the OEM style on my trailers where both of the lighting wires are "inside" the connector but only one is spliced to the lamp wire.

by:

Nice idea for waterproof connector, check your wire size/gage on the trailer side before ordering mine was too large to fit this connector.

by:

Fast shipping and great product. Easy to install on my boat trailer. Really helps with making connections. Will test the longevity of this product over the next several years. But overall very pleased, and etrailer is a wonderful company.

  • How To Power a Tailgate Light Bar on a 2018 Ram 1500
I do not have any advice to remove the 7-way trailer connector on your 2018 Ram 1500 nor would I recommend doing so as this would likely void your warranty. If you need to obtain power from these signals for a tailgate light bar like the Rampage SuperBrite LED Tailgate Light Bar part # RA960134 you can either splice into them with quick splice connectors like part # SWC501746-1 or you can just wire a 7-way on the end of the light bar with part # PK12706. These will be your best options...

  • Dash Lights Appear While Using The Factory 4-Flat Connector On 2014+ Ford F-150
We have had this problem before on similar products due to the computer system used in the newer Ford trucks. Whenever an accessory is plugged in, the vehicle may think there is a trailer connected and responds accordingly. The only way around this is to hardwire the Rampage SuperBrite LED Tailgate Light Bar - Stop, Tail, Turn, Reverse part # RA960137 into the taillight harness. This, however, can be accomplished rather easily as you will only need to use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993...

  • Recommended Trailer Wiring Harness for a Boat Trailer
The Optronics 25 foot 4 Way Wire Harness # A25W2GWB will be a good option. This will generally have enough length to cover most trailers. I will also recommend adding in a few of the Spectro Self-Stripping Connector with Waterproof Sealant # SWC501746-1. These will make splicing into the # A25W2GWB significantly easier. Especially for your side marker lights.

  • Installing the Fusion LED Trailer Light # STL211XRFHB on a 2017 Subaru Impreza
To install the Fusion LED Trailer Light # STL211XRFHB on your 2017 Subaru Impreza I recommend using the Deka Bonded 4 Wire # 16-4B-1 which is sold by the foot. You can then use Butt Connectors # DW05744-10 and Quick Splice Wire Connectors # SWC501746-1 to connect the wiring to appropriate functions. Your Fusion LED Trailer Light pigtail wiring will connect to your Impreza's light functions as follows: White wire for ground Brown wire for backup light Red wire for brake light Black wire...

  • Installation of Truck Cap LED Light on 2016 Ford F-150
There is not a wire for your truck bed cap under the bed of your truck. The brown wire at pin 13 of your Body Control Module connector C2280E is your STOP/CHMSL wire you would tap into for the cap brake light. This BCM is located under the passenger side of the dash behind the kick panel and below the glove box. I recommend using # 16-1-1 and Quick Splice Connector # SWC501746-1. Then use butt connectors # DW05744-5 for the light connection. For your light ground connection, you can...

  • Connecting Reverse Light Wire for an ETBC7 Trailer Wiring Harness on a 2001 Dodge Durango
To answer your first question, you will use a quick splice connector, like # SWC501746-1, and attach the purple wire to one of the reverse light wires. If the reverse light wire is contained within a loom, you may have to carefully cut away enough of the loom to get to the wire. Since it is different on every vehicle, specific instructions are not available. It is also possible to find the reverse light wire further up the vehicle at a place that is easier to access. You would need to...

  • Converting 4-Way of 2001 Toyota Tundra to 5-Way to Tow Boat Trailer with Surge Brakes
We have a solution to convert your 4-way to a 5-way so that your reverse lockout solenoid can activate but we don't have a plug and play style of adapter. Instead your best option is a 4-way to 5-way adapter part # 20036 which plugs into your current 4-way and then gives you an additional wire you'd run to the reverse light circuit of your truck. You can use a quick splice connector part # SWC501746-1 to tap into the circuit easily.

  • Parts Needed To Connect Lights From A Removable Trailer Extension To A 5th Wheel
Hi Rick, I am aware of the Swivelwheel extenders, though not the Blue Ox ones, so I do have an idea of what you are attempting to achieve. It sounds like what you are looking to do should pose no problems at all and shouldn't be too difficult either, especially if you are familiar with wiring. You will, of course, need some butt connectors, wiring, and both trailer and vehicle side 7 Way connectors. I have a list of everything you would need listed out below, but I included two different...

I have two options for you to install a headache rack with lights such as the B&W Custom Headache Rack part # BWPUCP7500BA on your 2008 Ford F-250. However, both of them will require splicing as they do not make an in-line connector specifically for this application. If you wanted to make the headrack removable in regards to the lighting functions then you would need to install a 4-way like part # HMC20031 on the end of the wiring harness that goes to the headrack and then splice a 4-way...

  • Can a Third Brake Light Be Added to a Trailer
To add a third brake light to a trailer is pretty simple, but does require an adapter to convert the signal. Because trailer tail light systems combine the stop lamp and turn signals for each side onto a single circuit, you will need to use a vehicle-to-vehicle tail light converter, part # 118158 to split the brake light circuit back out. The white wire on the input side of the converter would ground to the trailer frame, the green input wire would tap into the right turn circuit on...

For your LED tailgate light strip to function when your headlights are on it must be connected to the running light circuit wire and of course be grounded, either to the vehicle frame or to the white ground wire in your trailer wiring. In a 7-way the running light circuit is carried on the wire that leads to the contact at the 11:00 position as you view the socket. The ground wire connects to the pin at the 7:00 position. Please refer to the photo I linked for you. You can ground the light...

Use the power distribution box lid or owners manual to find the reverse light circuit fuse location. You will need extra wire to run from the engine compartment to the 7-Way, # 12-1-1. • Activating Reverse Light Circuit of 7-Way Trailer Connector on 2017 Ford Edge SEL

It sounds like the problem lies somewhere between the fuse panel and the trailer connector at the rear of the truck. You can trace the wires from the back to the front, using a circuit tester to test along the way at various points to determine if there is a damaged wire that needs to be repaired.
