This is the third one of these I have purchased since July of last year. I am having a problem with the bracket bending when making normal turns. After researching the product I decided that the sway control bar may have been too tight so I am going to give it one more try. If this does not cure the issue I will not recommend this product. Service from etrailer has been good.

Bought a weight distribution hitch

by:

The sway control bracket was easy to install on the hitch and worked well with the Reece sway control kit for towing our 22FB Airstream to the Ozarks and to Minnesota. A great product.

by:

I bought this damper mount because it was all set and I didn't have to do anything except bolt it on to my hitch bar. It was very simple just follow the direction provided. Remove the ball then position the damper mount and reinstall the ball. The quality of the part was excellent and everything worked as expected.

Still works great! And it’s awesome because after about six months we changed the height so we just took the damper mount off the old draw bar and put it on the new draw bar, perfect.

Have a 26 foot Jayco camper I pull with a Ford F250. This bracket attaches the sway control from the camper to the truck and minimmizes sway

Replaced it with a weight distributing hitch

by:

The price was right..... the shipping was fast....... the product is AWESOME! I have used etrailer
for well made items that are hard for me to find in my town.

by:

Necessary purchase if you want to install the Reese Anti-sway bar. Both work together to reduce dangerous sway of trailers.

by:

There is to much gap between the bracket and ball area.nearly a 1/4 inch on each side.

I had a tech at the manufacturer review your photos and he said he sees nothing wrong with the set up. If you have torqued the ball down, then there should be no concern.

by:

Excellent adapter. Fit beautifully.

by:

Product just as expected.

by:

It does what it's supposed to. However I made a sharp turn and the bracket bent. Replaced it with the same bracket and it has worked fine.

by:

I welded it to the curt ball mount after aligning it with the ball mount. Very strong!

by:

We added this to our hitch to enable us to use the anti-sway. It does move a bit so I added a simple stainless steel hose clamp clamp to fill the gap. (you cannot see it in the photo)

by:

Excellent product and company to do business with.

by:

Excellent Product and quick shipping, the friction sway control and sway control bracket work perfectly, much more enjoyable pulling my pop up camper on the highway!! Thanks!

by:

A bit of space between the hitch mount and the bracket and i'm not sure how that will play out. I'm hoping it will be fine as I don't want to have to go out and get another mount.

After ayear of camping the hitch worked well.

by:

Having been a metal fabricator for many years, I was very disappointed that the space left between the downtabs that go over the ball mount was so great. It would have been so easy to make a snug fit. The way it is, there's a quarter-inch gap that may allow this attachment to work the ball loose. I haven't towed with it yet and it may be fine as it is, although, I believe I may have to add a weld on the inside of the gap to make a closer tolerance. All ball mounts are the same width...why not fabricate this part to fit tight over the ball mount? If it was too tight, it would have been much easier to file a little off than it will be to add more metal. I expected a better fit, but then again, I am used to precision fabrication.

Not all ball mounts are the same width, but most are. When torqued down probably, the balls will exert enough clamping force that the ball will not back all the way off or loosen enough to fail. The most the platform could possibly rotate the assembly is around a 14 inch like the gap you have noticed. Not enough to release enough tension on the split washer on a ball to get it to back all the way off. This is not a precision piece because it does not have to be.

by:

The two pieces don’t fit. I will have to adjust to make it work

by:

I purchased this product along with a sway control bar to mount on my RZR trailer that I pull behind my 26 ft bumper pull travel trailer. We get a lot of wind in Idaho and the light weight trailer would start to fishtail uncontrollably in high winds.
Most of the other brackets for sway control devices either needed to be welded on my hitch or I would have to buy a totally new hitch with the bracket already attached.
This bracket installed easily and etrailer shipped fast so the problem was eliminated quickly. It worked so well that I purchased a second one for my travel trailer as well.

Thanks etrailer and keep up the good work!!!

by:

It is exactly like the one I caused to fail. I had improperly adjusted the tension. This bent and cracked the original unit. The device performed well in eliminating my trailer towing instability. Just don't set it too tight.

Brian

Only fair

by:

Hitch ball shank not long enough for mount and swaybar bracket.

by:

Excellent product! Fit perfect with the tow ball.

by:

Heavy duty quality. Looked for a long time before finding this. Sure beats big bulky hitch combinations and I don't need load equalization. Look easier than welding plate that comes with sway kit. etrailer was great about keeping me posted on order status. Although, initially back-ordered, it arrived a couple of days before promised date

Plate has neat clean look. Just purchased new Reese sway control to replace old brand X that didnt take a fall from the tongue too well. Never have had a problem. Good quality for the price

by:

I have placed several orders with the folks here at etrailer.com. I've always had great service with very good product choice at competitive prices. I will continue to use them.

by:

Perfect adaptor for the trailer brake I need for a small wiggly trailer I have without having to use my super large heavy RV Hitch!!

  • How to Control Sway With Trailer Hitch Not Rated for Weight Distribution on 2019 Kia Sorento
The trailer hitches available for your 2019 Kia Sorento are not rated for use with weight distribution due to the vehicle and not the hitch itself; the frame of your Sorento does not have the strength to allow for the higher weight ratings that a weight distribution system can offer. The good news is you can still use sway control with a trailer hitch such as the Draw-Tite Max-Frame Trailer Hitch # 75908 that fits your 2019 Sorento. All you will need is the Reese Friction Sway Control...

For a sway bar that will work nicely on the camper you are looking to purchase I recommend the Reese Friction Sway Control Kit # 83660. Since your camper will be longer than 26 feet it is recommended to use two friction sway control bars so you will want to order two of these kits. This unit uses tension/friction to fight against trailer sway that is caused by winds, winding roads, or sudden maneuvers. It simply attaches to either side of the trailer tongue and the ball mount on your...

You'd use the bracket part # RP26005 installed on your hitch ball and then you'd be set. Friction sway control was designed to fight the exact type of sway you mentioned that is caused by wind from passing semis or just high winds in general.
