Roadmaster Accessories and Parts - RM-076

  • Tow Bar
  • Hitch Adapters
  • High-Low Adapter
  • Roadmaster
  • 6 Inch Rise/Drop
  • Fits 2 Inch Hitch

Make up for the height difference between your RV and towed vehicle with this hitch adapter. Provides either a 6" drop or a 6" rise. Hollow shank is lightweight.

Features:

  • Allows for proper positioning of tow bar
    • Makes up for height difference between RV's hitch and towed vehicle's base plates
    • Also lets you mount a bike rack, cargo carrier, or other 2" hitch accessory
  • Provides either drop or rise for adequate ground clearance
  • Constructed of sturdy steel
    • Hollow shank is lightweight
  • Resists rust and corrosion with black powder coat finish
  • Hitch pin and clip or hitch lock sold separately
  • Made in the USA

Specs:

  • Application: 2" x 2" trailer hitch receivers
  • Drop/rise: 6"
  • Receiver: 2" x 2"
  • Tongue weight: 200 lbs
  • Gross towing weight: 6,000 lbs
  • Length: 15" overall
    • 5" From center of hitch pin hole to angled brace
    • 10-1/4" From center of hitch pin hole to back of receiver tube
  • Limited Lifetime Warranty

Note: This adapter is designed to flat tow a vehicle only. Do not use to tow a trailer. When using with a hitch-mounted accessory, such as a bike rack or cargo carrier, the tongue weight of your hitch will be reduced by at least 50 percent.

Most tow systems require some sort of hitch accessory to either raise or lower the tow bar to an appropriate level. The "Safe Zone" for a motor-home-mounted tow bar ranges from 3" above level to 3" below. Car-mounted models must be absolutely level. This high-low adapter can provide you with the necessary drop or desired rise to achieve a level tow bar setup.

Once again, Etrailer had just what I was looking for. This 6 inch lowering hitch allows my electric bike carrier to be lowered by 6 inches so that I do not have to lift so high to load the bikes. The extension also allows me to open the tailgate even with the bikes loaded.

Roger and everyone at etrailer do a wonderful job. Always there to steer you in the right direction. If you go somewhere else your probably making a mistake.

Fantastic

by:

The product worked just perfect. Basically a plug and play and for old geezers like us that is exactly what we needed. The company went above and beyond making sure we were satisfied. We cannot thank you enough!

by:

this item is perfect for me for my bike rack
Thanks

by:

Easy to install and works perfectly for our RV. Our Class C sits lower than our Jeep. This adapter puts us in the sweet spot for flat towing. Solid construction and I'm not worried about it at all.

by:

I originally purchased a cheaper product. When I read the "manual" that came with it it stated "Not for Towing" Well what else would you do with it? This roadmaster product is really well made and like a lot of things in life complain about it the day you pay for it but never complain again. I will feel comfortable towing my Honda CRV and will not look back - pun intended!

These are technically not meant for towing a trailer. This is why it states that. You can definitely use it for your flat tow set up. You can even is it for a bike rack or cargo carrier.

by:

did not need but was able to return it ok.

by:

Decided to flat tow my Jeep behind our new motor home. The Jeep has a 3" lift and an after market bumper with D-ring tabs that I will be using to mount the tow bar. To stay withing the tow bar specifications, this adapter is exactly what I needed. I was going to make one but for the price and delivery, it was a no brainer to buy. It's well made and well finished. Another picture in a review had my exact situation and made it easier to make up my mind.
etrailer is one of the best on-line or box store customer service organizations that I have ever dealt with. The documentation, videos, shipping information all outstanding. Thanks

by:

The old saying, you get what you pay for. This is top notch and well made. Definitely would recommend

by:

Just purchased.a used Class A motorhome and recognized that the receiver was at such a height that would require a high/low adapter extension to line up better with our tow vehicle. Ordered it on a Thurs night and received it the following Monday. It appears to be of excellent quality and the price and shipping charges were much less than the price at my local RV dealership!

by:

Once again, etrailer came through for us!!! If we need anything related to our RV and tow car, THIS is where we always go. Thank you as usual for great customer service and superb products!!!!

by:

Well built and performed as advertised.

by:

Have had good luck with RoadMaster products for many years and I have no doubt that this 6" drop adapter will have a long service life as well. I'm using it to level the tow bar between an F550 4x4 and a Geo Tracker 4x4.

by:

Item feels very heavy and well build. Also consider that will "stick out" of your rear bumper a good 10- 15 inches... see picture!
Car is Chevrolet Tracker- idea was to install rear step on the extension but at the moment I just have a towing shackle...

by:

I got this so I can have a few inches lift on clearance when I pull in and out of my basement garage and it works. Now I can put the extension with the 6 inch rise and get in and out of the garage with out bottom out the bike rack and not damaging the driveway and my car or the bike rack. Which I took pictures. But if anyone wants pictures I can share and upload it.

Perfect alignment with the 6"riser after I lifted my Jeep wrangler 3.5" plus 35" Nitto tires.

4/14/2023

After 1 year with this product, the ion was perfect fit for 35 tire and a 3.5 lift. The tow bar fit is perfectly aligned between Jeep and 6 hitch riser.

by:

This hitch works great. The distance was perfect to keep my belongings away from my poorly engineered exhaust pipe. I would make sure I shop here before I go anywhere else for my trailer needs.

by:

Haven't put it into action just yet, but tested it out for my cargo trailer that would often bottom out, and it looks like its going to work fine.

by:

I'm using the RM-076 as a 6" hitch riser to raise a bicycle rack and the front of my truck. Very well built.

by:

I knew this product from having a previous 4” drop version. The customer service and lighting fast shipping make ETrailer a trusted source for any parts you may need.

by:

My 6" High-low drop down hitch was just what I was looking for looks very well made, the receiver part was a little tight for my tow bar to slip in easy had to hammer it in. The finish seems to be of high quality and I know it will give me many years of service. The shipping and packaging was very good and arrived one day earlier than expected. Would buy from E-trailer again.

Still happy with my hitch and still holding up great.

by:

Solid construction with fast shipping and delivery

by:

I received the Roadmaster High-Low Adaptor Hitch Mount in 2 days. It is exactly how it was described and pictured in the catalog. It is heavy duty with a 6000 lb tow rating. My tow vehicle is 4400 lbs so I don't anticipate any problems. I haven't used it yet, other than inserting it into the receiver. It will solve the tow bar level issue with the tow vehicle.

Works perfectly for the vehicle Im towing behind my motor home.

by:

I recently traded in my old toad, a 2009 Honda Fit, and rigged my '05 Element to tow instead, The Element was exactly six inches taller at the tow bar level, and this high-low adapter worked perfectly to bring my tow angle up to level! This adapter is a heavy-duty and well-crafted piece of equipment. Thanks again, etrailer.

My 6 hitch is still in perfect shape. When I began using it last year I spray-painted it twice, and put a thin film of grease in the hitch-pin holes, and it still looks like new, except for a few stickers...

  • Can 2007 Kia Sportage with Manual Transmission be Flat Towed?
If your 2007 Kia Sportage is the I4 2.0L Front Wheel Drive Manual Transmission model, then you will be able to flat tow the vehicle. If your vehicle is 4wd or all wheel drive, it will not be able to be flat towed. In order to flat tow a vehicle with an RV, you're going to need parts from a couple different categories: Base Plates, Tow Bars, Safety Chains, Wiring/Lights and a Supplemental Braking System. Below I've created a list of recommendations that will fit your vehicle: 1) Base Plates:...

  • Connecting Stowmaster Tow Bar # RM-501 to Steel Bumper on Jeep Wrangler
Tow bars from RoadMaster and Blue Ox, such as the RoadMaster StowMaster # RM-501, are designed to mate directly to base plates from the same manufacturer. Base plates usually mount to the vehicle frame. There are adapters available to use a tow bar from one company with base plates from another, but this arrangement costs more and increases the complexity and the amount of play in the set-up. Also, not every possible parts combination is covered by the available adapters. Jeep Wranglers...

Yes, the Jeep Wrangler (1997-2021) is the most popular flat tow vehicle among RVers. Thanks to its modest size, the Wrangler is a great option to pull behind both Class A and Class C motorhomes. The Wrangler has no speed or distance restrictions when being flat towed. Plus, both manual and automatic transmission models can be safely towed. • Recommended High-Low Adapter For Stealth 391TES317 Hitch on 2018 Tesla Model 3
I spoke with my engineering contact at Stealth hitches, who doesn't have a problem with using a rise adapter like the Roadmaster # RM-076 along with their # 391TES317 hitch. However, be aware of the following facts. Because the adapter moves the load further away from the receiver tube, using it will lower the hitch tongue weight capacity from 300 lbs by 50% to 150 lbs. This means that the weight of the bikes plus the rack they're loaded upon cannot exceed 150 lbs. Also, you may get more...
