Recommended Components Needed To Flat Tow 2015 GMC Sierra 1500 Behind Motorhome

Question:

First of all, can I flat tow this truck behind my Winnebago? Second, if so, what kind of equipment do I need to make it happen?

First, yes you can flat-tow your 2015 Sierra 1500. When flat-towing any vehicle you need 5 items. You need base plates for the towed vehicle, a tow bar, safety cables, lighting for the towed vehicle, and most states now require a supplemental brake system. I'll make some recommendations that will work for you.

The base plates I recommend the Roadmaster XL Base Plate Kit, part # RM-3177-1. This kit has removable arms that make these base plates almost invisible when not towing.

The tow bar I recommend is the RoadMaster Falcon Tow Bar, part # RM-520. This system features telescoping arms that are easy to hook up and automatically lock as you drive.

The safety cables I recommend are the Roadmaster Coiled Safety Cables, part # RM-643.

The lighting I recommend for your Sierra is the Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit, part # RM-154. You will also need a battery disconnect, part # RM-766.

Since most states now require a supplemental brake system I recommend the Blue Ox Patriot 3 Radio Frequency # BLU37TR along with the # RM-9332. This is a radio frequency system with proportional braking which means the brakes on the towed vehicle are applied with the same intensity as the brakes in your motorhome.

You will also want to make sure you are towing your truck as level as possible. I recommend using a high/low adapter like part # RM-076 if you need a 6 inch rise or drop. I have attached a link to our product page for the high-low adapters we offer you can check out.

I have attached links to a couple helpful articles about flat-towing you can check out.
