This jack will take the work out of lifting and lowering your trailer. The 30-amp motor ensures trouble-free operation and consistent power with the flip of a switch - no need for a crank. It also has helical-cut gears, which have angled teeth that mesh together clearly. This allows for quieter, more efficient operation than a jack that uses a standard Acme screw.

To ensure great performance even at night, this jack also comes with a front-facing light that houses 3 LEDs. The light is directed at a downward angle allowing for easy deployment and retraction of the jack in low-light settings. The unit also comes with a manual crank handle in case you lose power.

This jack can be bolted or welded onto your A-frame coupler, or it can sit in a brace behind the coupler. As with other Lippert jacks, it is constructed of powder coated steel to ensure that it will resist rust and corrosion and hold up well to the elements. The housing on the jack protects the internal components, and it has a durable, UV-resistant coating that resists chips, cracks, and fading.

You always want to be sure when purchasing a tongue jack that the jack capacity at least matches your trailer's tongue weight (TW). Your trailer's TW should be around 10 percent to 15 percent of your gross trailer weight (GTW), which is the weight of your trailer when it's fully loaded. So if you have a 5,000-lb trailer you would want a jack that can support at least 500 lbs to 750 lbs.

How to Determine the Lift Capacity You Need in a Jack

A trailer jack is designed to lift the tongue of your trailer so you can connect the trailer coupler to your hitch ball. To do this, you'll need a jack with a lift capacity high enough to handle your trailer's tongue weight.

Tongue weight is the amount of weight that your trailer applies to the back of your tow vehicle. Typically, your tongue weight should be 10-15% of your total trailer weight (trailer + cargo). In other words, a 10,000-lb trailer would have a tongue weight between 1,000 lbs and 1,500 lbs. For a trailer this size, you would need a jack with a lift capacity of at least 1,500 lbs.

It's okay to have a jack with a weight rating that is higher than your trailer's tongue weight. In fact, a jack with a higher lift capacity should operate more efficiently, allowing you to spend less time cranking and more time camping.

Trailer and Camper Jack Lift

Every jack offers a certain amount of lift or travel. Screw travel is the distance the jack extends when you crank it (or toggle it to "extend" on an electric model). Some jacks include a drop leg for extra adjustability. On these jacks, you'll see the maximum extension of the drop leg listed in the specs as well. Adding the screw travel and drop leg travel together will give you the total lift. The total lift listed above can help you determine how high this jack will be able to raise your trailer.

As always a big help in getting what I need, and wanted. Good tec help, fast service. Already installed.

Worked great, nice upgrade, saves a lot of work. Worth the price.

by:

The bolt pattern matched my trailer so it was very easy. No skill needed. I soldered a connection on and hooked it directly into the battery. I had to drill a hole for my foot extension. So far so good. 23 foot travel trailer.

I wish I would have purchased it the same day I purchased the trailer. It’s super!!!

by:

Love it! No more hand cranking. Installation was a breeze. The trailer tongue has nut plates so it was a easy swap. No extra wrench to loosen the bolts.
I just crimped on a connecter on the end of the power wire, ran the wire through the factory clamps of the camper and put it on the positive side of the battery. Done! I kind of wish it had a slow and fast speed but no biggie. I really like the LED light on the front with its own switch. It adds to the “wow” factor. Thanks again etrailer! I never shop anywhere else.

by:

Just got it installed it works great. Thanks Courtney at trailer!

by:

Jack was easy to install. We've only used the trailer once since replacing the old jack and had no trouble.

by:

As always, etrailer was informative, very polite and fast with delivery! My sales rep this time was Mike, but it doesn’t matter, all reps are on the ball and ready to help.

by:

Do not like the new design. Much slower than the old version and the buttons stick out too far and now I cannot lower my tailgate while the trailer is attached.

by:

it came earlier than stated 1 day earlier , which was great -I bought it to replace the original -they are supposed to be watertight- but the original seized up from not being covered-so, I will not install the new one till spring after winter is over- I did connect it to a battery to be sure it functioned right- I am sure it will do it's job- just learned a hard lesson about keeping it covered against the weather--they should come with a water proof cover for it--but it does not-

by:

Showed up a day early. Looks like a perfect replacement.

by:

My electric tongue jack arrived in two days, was easy to install and makes hitching an unhitching so much easier.

They were so helpful and curteous the best,
The person was excellent who took my order !!!!

Within an hour after receiving the Jack I had it installed and wired up , it’s a very easy installation , and it’s going to be a great timesaver

It’s working just like the day I install it just fine

by:

Same as what I have now, easy to install, quick delivery.

by:

First of all , My compliments to the shipping department. I was actually impressed the way that the trailer jack factory package was secured in the etrailer outer shipping box.
Since I was basically just replacing a old jack that I damaged with a new one, the installation was easy. All works great, exceeds my expectations .

I purchased a used trailer that came with a cheap "Made in China" copy of the Lippert 3500 lb electric jack which the dealer had installed. It currently retails for $70.00. It failed after 3 years (trailer only 3 years old). So I bought the "real" deal this time. I had read previous views that said the Lippert 3500 was noisy. Mine barely makes a whisper and compared with my previous jack it doesn't make any noise at all. Etrailer even matched a competitor's low price. I couldn't be happier. Installed it yesterday and it moves up and down with ease. I'd give it and Etrailer 10 stars if I could.

My Lippert 3500 lb electric jack is still working greatsmooth, quiet, and powerful. I am still very happy with it.

by:

Excellent product. Great customer service. Plug n play. Perfect fit to replace my frozen jack. Fast shipping. Ordered Monday, received Thursday, camping Friday.

by:

Excellent and fast shipping. Fantastic company to deal qith.

by:

Product looked great when I opened the box. The box on the other hand was taped closed and torn when it arrived. I like the water seal that has been added to the switches. The jack itself though leaves more to desire as it is slower than the previous model.

by:

I have been using this electric tongue, jack and have been very satisfied with its overall performance

by:

Comparable price. Super fast shipping. Works great. Have ordered from Etrailer in the past and have never been disappointed. Thanks!!

by:

Easy install

by:

The order shipped quickly and arrived when promised (via UPS). After removing the old tongue jack, the new Lippert jack installed in less than 45 minutes. Installation was straightforward due to the clear instructions included with the product. I have been very happy with all products purchased from etrailer.

  • How to Wire Lippert Electric Trailer Jack During Installation
When installing the Lippert Electric Trailer Jack with Footplate - A-Frame - 18" Lift - 3,500 lbs - Black # LC285318 the only wire that needs to be connected is the single red wire coming from the jack. The instructions state that you need to connect the red power wire from the Power Tongue Jack housing to a grounded 12V power supply on the trailer. I reached out to Lippert and they do not have any internal wiring diagrams for the jack. The reason they do not have these is because they...

A-Frame powered trailer jacks such as # LC285318 get power from a trailer mounted battery and not from AC shore power unless there is a converter than converts the AC power to DC power and it is then connected to the jack. This would be uncommon.

  • Troubleshooting Electric Hydraulic Jack That Stopped Working
Since you have a new travel trailer it is unlikely that the jack would already have an issue, so the problem is likely in another area, specifically the connection between the jack and the trailer battery. There will be a wire that goes from the jack to the battery; did it somehow become loose or damaged on your way to the campsite? Is your battery fully charged and had it been? If not, the low voltage coming from your battery could have caused your fuse to blow.

  • Troubleshooting Electric Trailer Jack Struggling to Lift Trailer Tongue
If your electric jack, like part # LC285318, is struggling to lift the tongue of your trailer then you either have it overloaded, you need to check your power source to make sure that it is fully charged, and you need to make sure that your power wire is in good shape. One other thing to note is that if your jack keeps stopping at the same place then the screw on the jack might be messed up. Depending on your trailer jack module you'll either be able to swap that out or you'll have to replace...

Since the jack has power to it most like the issue is a weak ground. I'd verify that the ground of the jack is securely attached as that's the most common reason for the problem you mentioned. • Troubleshooting Powered A Frame Jack that Wont Move
What happens if you use the manual crank handle of the jack? Can you get the jack to move? Or is it still locked up? Either way it's probably time to replace the jack, but if you can turn the crank with the handle the issue is most likely the motor but if not it's most likely a damaged screw. If the manual crank works, you might also check the power to the jack. Neither part is available as a replacement part. • Can Lippert Components Power Tongue Jack # LC285318 Mounting Plate be Rotated
The Lippert Components Power Tongue Jack # LC285318 uses a standard 3-bolt a-frame type mounting scheme. It is designed to be installed in a specific orientation with the point of the triangular mounting plate facing the tow vehicle as with most of the similar a-frame jacks shown on the linked page. This is not a manufacturing error. It is not possible to rotate the upper head portion to face in another direction. It is certainly possible to have a piece of steel plate welded on the trailer...

What is probably occurring on your jack is that it has been extended too far at some point and has become stuck. What many electric jack manufacturers will do is to smash or otherwise distort the end of the screw that turns to move the leg up and down to prevent it from extending to far. If it does end up extending too far the threads will become permanently...

To add in a battery, like the Go Power AGM RV Battery # 34276285, to your horse trailer and have it trickle charge while you tow you'll just need to connect it to the 12v hot lead of your 7-way. There should be a junction box somewhere near the trailer tongue that you can make you connections at.
