Video Transcript for Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Review

Speaker 1: Today you'll be getting a look at and seeing how to install the Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Set, with a quantity of two, part number JSC-24. They're also available in a quantity of one, with part number JSC-24-IND.You can bet on this pair of jacks. These scissor jacks from Stromberg Carlson are great for stabilizing and leveling your camper. As you can see, if your trailer is out of level, you can use your scissor jacks to level it. Check it out. Much better.

As you can see, without your scissor jacks engaged, there's a lot of movement in your trailer. With your scissor jacks engaged, all that extra movement is gone. They're adjustable between four and 24 inches and they have a 5000 pound weight capacity per jack. You can easily raise and lower them with the included crank handle. It's going to work out great on most surfaces.

As you can see, we're on concrete here. The bow-tie base is going to keep it steady even on soft surfaces. They're a bolt-on or weld-on installation. We'll go ahead and show you how to bolt them on now. Here you can see our old rusted out stabilizer jack. It's bent.

We're going to be replacing it. I've gone ahead and removed the old stabilizer. Let's bring in our new one. With our new one, you can see it's got multiple mounting locations. It's completely universal.

Now, you may or not be able to use your same mounting holes and locations. What you need to do is hold it up and figure out where it's going to work best. Now, once you've found a good location to install your stabilizer jack, you want to be sure that you can still easily access your drive nut, which is going to raise and lower your stabilizer jack. You'll want to raise your jack up to where it's making contact with your frame where you want to install it. Then you can mark your holes. Now, there are six holes on each side. I'm only going to be using four total, two on each side. You can use whichever holes work out best for you. Once you've got your holes marked, go ahead and move the jack out of the way, and then you can begin drilling out your holes. I'm going to be drilling out quarter-inch holes. If you'd like to, you can use a pilot bit and then drill out your final size. All right. With all those drilled out, you can go ahead and install your stabilizer jack. You will have to provide your own hardware.I'm just using some quarter-inch bolts with some flat washers and lock nuts. Now you can bring your jack back in and align your holes. Now you'll just loosely install all your hardware. Now we can tighten up our hardware. Now you can raise up your jack and it's ready for when you need it. That's going to complete your look at the Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack set.

Quality product w/ quick delivery

by:

work very well for portable leveling couldn't fix too Jayco Melbourne any where under RV. Still trying to figure a spot.

by:

Received shipment next day after ordering...no added charges. Shipping package arrived in excellent condition. Scissor jacks look good and work smoothly.

by:

The replacement jack worked well. The problem is the clearance on the RV. Looks like I will probably go through several!

by:

Excellent transaction! Will do business again. Product was better than expected and actually early! Kudos!

by:

Quick shipping. I will be ordering more parts as I need them for our RV.

by:

I wish they made these a bit heavier duty. Weeks after putting them on, one barely hit ground and messed it up bad. It's little these things are made of pressed corn flakes!

It's not an issue of bearing weight. I just barely hit one of the jacks while parking the trailer, and now it wiggles and runs very slow going up and down. The jacks are only used to slightly lift and stabilize the trailer.

I have gotten in contact with the manufacturer and they have responded that once that shaft is bent its very hard to straighten it out. This might be because it was hit and bent. This could be the reason that it is slow. As for the wiggle that could also be because it was hit. It doesn’t take a lot to hit these just right to bend and cause damage to these jacks. These are only meant to hold slight weight so when you hit it with any kind of force this is what can happen. I really would not recommend bending it back neither because it is now compromised. The best suggestion we have is to replace it. Since this only has a one year warranty, we will be unable to replace it under a warranty claim. You can always contact our customer service to see if they can assist you in getting a replacement.

After installing these on my camper, when I went to jack my camper up, the welds had broken that stops the screw and my trailer would not jack up during to the cranks just spinning. Fortunately I had hydraulic jacks to help level my camper.

You mentioned that the welds had broken and i wanted to ask if you would be able to send a picture of them?

by:

PLEASE, do yourself a favor and DO NOT buy these jacks... These are cheap Chinese crap. I'm not really sure what they think there good for ie; don't Jack a frame or axle. WTF? Right out of the box they are a good looking piece of equipment. Don't be fooled. These Jack are incapable of lifting 50% of stated load. And quite frankly, etrailer customer service was rude when contacted. Don't say nobody warned you!

Were sorry to hear that you werent happy with your purchase. As stated above in the product description, the jacks arent designed to lift your trailer or RV. Doing so will exceed the capacity of the jacks. They are meant as stabilizers to prevent the trailer from rocking or bouncing around from people walking around in it.

by:

This was my second order with etrailer and I have been pleased with the service. Items are shipped quickly and order was accurate each time. The products are high quality and work as described.

by:

Installation was easy. Parts are good quality. These don't come with the bolts. I had to drill new holes since the old ones didn't line up.

by:

good product. Better equipment then what the manufacturer supplied.

David

awesome products, awesome prices and awesome service

This is poor service I bought and paid for 10,000 pound 24 inch lift scissor jacks and recieved 5,000 18 inch. Unacceptable

The leveling scissor jacks (2) had good mounting flanges and extra wide bottom pad for uneven surfaces. Mechanically it operates well, but with in a couple of weeks the black finish on the body of the jacks began to fade and the hex end where the drive socket attaches started to rust with in days of use. I spray the whole unit with WD 40 every time I bring it home from storage (out side) to clean and service it and or before a trip. This seems to hold off serious rusting. Bottom line is knowing this jack sits on the outside of the frame behind the wheels you would think the manufacturer would paint it to hold up better.

by:

We bought these to put on our vintage 1948 Spartan Manor travel trailer, the old fashion type are cool, but as we are getting older we are getting tired of climbing under the rig to put them up. These scissor jacks are awesome!! They mounted beautifully and look really nice. We are very pleased with their quality and ease of use.

Sue R.

9/3/2017

Working just fine, plan on buying two more for another trailer.

by:

They are well built, easy to install and made leveling our RV much easier.
Definitely would recommend them!

by:

Arrived yesterday and everyone who reads this needs to know you are getting 2 5K jacks and that added together is your 10K weight. I am disappointed and maybe it is ignorance on my part, but other websites state they are 2 5K jacks. I paid freight to Alaska for 2 boxes of these when I could have just went down to the local store and get them off the shelf

by:

Great heavy duty replacement for OEM stabilizer jacks. Easy to install. Had to drill a couple of new hole in the frame, but I don't think that is unusual. Used self tapping screws. Excellent product.

Bob C.

9/6/2017

No problems. Product works great.

by:

I've bought a few times through etrailer and have been satisfied with their service. Quick delivery, and great prices.
I bought trailer tires and jack stabilizers.

Dan B.

8/1/2016

The Jack stabilizers are working out great on my camper, I had them welded on and I use a socket on my cordless drill to crank them up and down.

by:

Easy to install

by:

Great customer service from Carol!

THE STROMBERG CARLSON JACKS ARE WHAT I WANTED. THE COGS ON THE JACK ARE MADE BY WELDING TWO FLAT STAMPED METAL PARTS TOGETHER. THIS MAKE THE JACK MUCH MORE STURDY AND LESS PRONE TO TWISTING WHEN SET ON UNEVEN GROUND.

Michael A.

8/4/2016

I just returned from a month long vacation trip on which I used the Stromberg Carlson jacks every day except two. I have not had any issues with the Stromberg jacks as they are the quality I am wanting.

by:

These jacks are superior to the factory installed jacks. They raise and lower much better and are made of superior materials. I'm so glad I replaced two of my trailer jacks with these! If I had kept the trailer longer, I would have replaced all four with these jacks. They are perfect for this application.

by:

I thought I was purchasing jacks that were 10,00 # each not 2 at 5,000# each. I little miffed about that!

  • Recommended Leveling Jacks for 2018 Coachmen Freelander Motorhome
I recommend the Leveling Scissor Jack Set - 24" Lift - 10,000 lbs - QTY 2 # JSC-24 for your 2018 Coachmen Freelander Motorhome. These have a weight capacity of 5,000 lbs per jack and can be used to both level and stabilize your RV. The # JSC-24 has up to 24" lift, so you will need to measure from the bottom of the frame on your RV to the ground to make sure that distance is less than 24". If you need a jack with more lift then I recommend the # JSC-30-IND instead since it has up to 30"...

  • Where Should Stabilizing Jacks be Installed on a Winnebago View
The stabilizing jacks, like the Stromberg Carlson Leveling Scissor Jack Set # JSC-24, on your Winnebago View should be installed on the rear corners of your vehicle. Since the front and mid section are stabilized by the axles, the rear corners are where stabilizing jacks need to be installed. If you do not already have stabilizing jacks then I highly recommend going with the Stromberg Carlson set that I just referenced. They can support up to 5,000 lbs, have an extended height of 24",...

I checked with the manufacturer, Ultra-Fab, and the Ultra-Fab Power Twin II Electric Stabilizer for Trailers and RVs - 22" Lift - 6,000 lbs # UF39-941707 is only recommended for the rear of a travel trailer. It would really be overkill for both the front and rear of your travel trailer to utilize the Power Twin II Electric Stabilizer # UF39-941707.
