Installation

This custom-fit T-connector plugs into your vehicle's factory tow package wiring harness, which is located at the rear of your vehicle, slightly toward the driver's side.

Once installation is complete, the connectors will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket is included to keep the connectors secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 7-pole and 4-pole connectors - to help prevent corrosion.

Vehicle Wiring

Note:Refer to the diagram above to determine if this harness will fit your application. The plugs on your vehicle must have 3 terminals on one side and 4 on the other. If your vehicle has 2 terminals on one side and 5 on the other, you will need wiring harness HM11143395 instead.

Works great, easy to install . The only complaint is the mounting bracket it is cheaply made and the mounting screws were not long enough for installing on the rear step bumper. Used original screws to make it work.

I tried replacing this piece on my 2003 Toyota Tundra. Local dealers didn't have what I needed. In checking with etrailer I found the part and a great description with pictures to make sure it fit my application. Upon arriving the part was exactly what I needed and exactly as described on etrialer site.
The product is of much higher quality than what came on the vehicle from the factory too. Great job guys!!

by:

Item fit exactly, except the mounting bracket holes had to be made larger to mount in the same holes. A couple of zip ties would have been helpful. Over all it seemed to be a good purchase.

by:
2005 Toyota Tundra

Fits the factory OEM wiring harness on my 05 Tundra Ltd Dbl Cab. Truly plug & play. I would buy it again and have bought two here. Thanks

This item was on back order. Their sales representative called me communicated when it was going to arrive. This item arrived yesterday. I just installed it, works great easy to install.

2006 Toyota Tundra

After damaging my existing 7-way connector on my 2006 Tundra I decided to take on the task of replacing myself. After some reviews I chose the Hopkins 7-way with 4-way connector. Super easy install as it was just plug and go. One needs to make sure of your current wiring especially on the 3 wires (12-v, electric brake, backup). One minor inconvenience was that I had to drill out the holes in the bracket which connects to the bumper. Not a big deal. Excellent product and look and the added 4-way is a nice bonus. Will definitely recommend the product and etrailer.

by:
2006 Toyota Tundra

This is a perfect replacement for the stock Toyota 2006 Tundra, it is higher quality than the original, and at a fraction of Toyota's price. Replacing the old part was trivial. Etrailer's service was exceptional: it was shipped within hours, I received tracking information promptly, and the shipping cost was very modest.

by:

Bracket is too weak and bends back when I push in the trailer plug. Also some of the holes were either too small or didn't line up with the original bracket.

by:

Great product and fit!!! Needed to drill new holes for mounting bracket, but easy enough to do. After that was done, everything went perfect. Simple plug in connection on truck if you have factory towing package. I had done in about 30 mins.

by:

I was very, very pleased that my order came in as quickly as it did. Thank you very much.

by:
2003 Toyota Tundra

Arrived on time. Great product. Mounting bracket fit existing holes. Electrical connections fit perfect. Heavy duty wires. Great price. What more can you ask for?

by:

Wrong one. What part do I need? The pic shows my truck end plugs. ??

by:

This product does exactly what I needed it to do. Still works great a year later. Looks like it's from the factory.

by:

This is a good product. It installed without any difficulty and has worked every time I have used it over the last year. The only reason I did not give it five stars is because the mounting bracket is a little flimsy for a full sized pickup truck. I would recommend this product to others.

by:
2006 Toyota Tundra

Nice product. Fast shipping. Plug looks like a factory OEM part. Installation was super easy.
HIGHLY RECOMMEND

by:

Works perfect. Factory trailer plug doesn't have both 7 and 4 way so it's nice having both without needing an adapter

2006 Toyota Tundra

My original connector was damaged. I was looking for a replacement at a good price - Toyota wants $300 for this part.

I love that etrailer was a good price, but especially like how they have pictures that are different than the stock photos other online retailers use. I was able to see that the bracket was included in this - no need to buy anything else.

The price here was fantastic, not only did it beat [the other online retailers], but it was one of the least expensive around.

After placing my product I was notified quickly that it shipped - and I even got tracking information. My recent purchases online seem to think that extra step isn't necessary - and only give me info if I asked for it.

The product installation was easy. Several reviewers said I'd need to make the holes in the brackets larger. Yes, I needed to. I just got my drill out and used a slightly larger diameter bit to widen the holes. I then used the OEM holes and bolts. It fits well, plugged in just fine. It looks solid and has weather resistant covers for the two plugs. It's also super that both plug types are included - I no longer need that bulky 4->7 wire plug adapter.

Great product, easy installation, great price, perfect shipping! Thank you etrailer!

The trailer harness is working very well. I just used it last month for towing a car home. I like the fact that it’s a single connection and stays closed and out of the weather. I appreciate you following up with me. I’m glad I did business with you.

by:

This is absolutely a great product at a fair price. In fact, it is better than the OEM in that it has the 4 - wire adapter on the side, so no need to carry the plug in adapter when pulling a smaller trailer without brakes. Installed in minutes with the factory connectors. Been using it for a year now and happy with it.

2006 Toyota Tundra

My 2006 Tundra’s factory harness kicked the bucket so this seemed like a great alternative. Installation was the exact reverse of removal of the OEM harness. I did have to drill out the mounting holes a bit to match the original bolts on the truck, but that only took a couple minutes. The separate 4-pin is very convenient and keeps me from needing an adapter. It’s not quite the factory look, but still very neat and clean (maybe it’s just because the rest of the truck isn’t as new and shiny anymore). Overall I’m very happy with the connector!

Connector is still working perfectly. I trailer about every two weeks and just hit it with some grease now and again to keep the connection clean.

by:

Harness didn't come with hardware to connect it to the bracket. Harness wasn't an exact fit to the factory harness but close enough I was able to make it work.

by:
2010 Toyota Tundra

Mounted on my 2003 tundra as a direct replacement for the original receptacle. plugs snap in to the harness as good as they would be expected. The bracket has drill holes in the correct place, just needed to be drilled out to fit the oem bolts. It comes with smaller screws to replace the bolt hardware, if your threads are stripped out. took me 30 minutes to install, I reused the old plastic snap on pieces. If I didn't you could do the job in 10 minutes.

  • Installing a 7-Way Trailer Connection on a 2000 Toyota Tundra
The Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness for Factory Tow Package - 7-Way and 4-Flat Connectors # HM43385 is a fit for 2003 - 2006 Toyota Tundra with factory 7-Way. For your 2000 Toyota Tundra, there is only a 4-way trailer connector available so you will want to start with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118367 and then add the Universal Brake controller wiring kit # ETBC7 for the 4-way and 7-way. According to Hopkins, their # HM43385 is compatible with the 2003-2007 Tundra, but not the Tacoma. Since you already have the OEM 7-way, and you are simply wanting to add a 4-pole, you could just use part # 118384. This is a T-connector that will plug inline with the factory harness that plugs into the rear of your 7-way. Installation would be simple. Yes, you are correct that you can snip off the connectors of the Hopkins # HM43385 and hardwire them to the wiring on your 2010 Toyota Tacoma with factory 7-way connector. You will want to make sure that you match up the wires by function to prevent any issues. To make these connections, I recommend using heat shrink butt connectors like 12 # DW05745-5 and 16 # 05731-5 and then wrapping them up with electrical tape to prevent any dirt or moisture from being able to get into the connections....

I do have an option for you but we don't carry the factory plugs that connect to the Hopkins Plug-In Simple Vehicle Wiring Harness part # HM43385 on a 2006 Toyota Tundra. That said, you could indeed simply remove them and hardwire the wires using butt connectors like part # DW05745-5 and part # DW05744-5.
