Reduced axle sag with Timbren suspension enhancement

Just like the rear of your vehicle will sag under the weight of a fully loaded bed, the front of your vehicle will sag when under the burden of heavy equipment such as a snowplow. In this case, the front axle is handling not only the weight of the equipment, but also more of the vehicle's weight. Overall vehicle handling - traction, steering, and braking - is negatively affected. But the resistance from Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System works with your factory suspension to keep your vehicle level and improve your driving experience.

Install diagrams of Timbren hollow rubber springs

The Timbren system comes with custom-fit brackets that are bolted onto each frame rail above your front axle. Hollow rubber springs are bolted to the bottom of the bracket and hang down so that the bottom of each spring touches the axle. Because each spring is making constant contact with the axle, it is always working to cushion and support your factory suspension.

Animation of a standard Timbren rubber spring

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Systems are designed to work progressively. When the hollow rubber springs are compressed, the convoluted design causes them to quickly collapse along the folds. Once the folds are compacted, the stacked barrel shape increases resistance, stiffening the suspension and keeping your vehicle level.

Timbren suspension system works to prevent body roll

Each hollow rubber spring works independently to support the driver's-side or passenger's-side of your vehicle. This is helpful when you swerve or make sharp turns. Each spring is activated when it is needed, so body roll is greatly reduced. The independent action also works well when you're carrying off-center loads.

A snowplow mounted to the front of the truck will require extra suspension support for the front axle.

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement System will help raise the front end of your vehicle when you're using heavy equipment like a snowplow. This ensures that your headlight beams will be pointed in the right direction and tire wear will be reduced. If the plow is off-center or has an extension, the springs will automatically compensate for this as well.

An empty truck on a bumpy road without Timbren

Another great feature of the rubber construction is that the springs absorb most of the road shock, creating a smoother, more stable ride overall. Wear and tear on the factory suspension is also lessened because the rubber springs work to prevent bottoming out on rough roads.

Timbren Suspension Enhancement Compared to the Competition

Timbren's Suspension Enhancement Systems are much easier to install than air springs - there are no air hoses to run, no compressors or gauges to hook up, and no manual adjustments to make. The rubber construction makes Timbren's springs more elastic than similar products constructed of microcellular urethane. More elasticity allows for a more comfortable ride because the rubber has more travel.

Out of the box fit !!
Only issue I had
was keeping the wedge from moving during installation

I had a problem with getting front sumo springs relative to the rear sumo springs I purchased earlier; however, the staff at etrailer were very helpful in getting me a suspension enhancement component made by timbren which I just installed. I believe the timbren supports are going to do the job I was looking for and make me just as happy as I am with the rear sumo springs. You will notice from the photos the supports make direct contact; however, the pictures were taken on a unlevel surface and when the truck is on a level surface the direct contact is equal on either side. Also, the timbren supports provide substantially more weight capacity in the event I choose to haul my scooter on the front end of the truck. Thanks again Derek S and etrailer staff I am very pleased with the service, customer relations and professionalism experienced when ordering my parts. Thank you, Bobby (Louisiana).

The timbren springs are working out better than expected. I installled new Monroe matic RV shocks front and rear on my 2006 Chevy Silverado 1500 just prior to putting the timbrens on the front and the sumo springs on the rear and the ride is great especially with a load or hauling my travel trailer and the ride is just as smooth empty. I highly recommend the timbren and sumo springs because they fit by application and there is nothing additional to buy. Thanks etrailer.

2006 Chevrolet Silverado

Great ride improvement. Thanks

1999 Chevrolet Silverado

this is the 3rd replacement of bump stops for my 99 chevy 3/4 HD 4x4. Two were OEM , and one an after market ( lasted a week ! ). I am impressed that the Timbren bump stops are well made and were a direct fit. The truck sits about an inch higher in the front end and best of all the ride is smoother . the truck also has new up graded shocks and the over all condition of the suspension is very sound. the shocks were installed prior to these new bump stops. I would give 5 stars however I am waiting this out to see what the Timbren bump stops are capable of in a year from know. my truck spends most of its time on road not off road .

I would buy again . these are worth 5 stars.

2003 Chevrolet Silverado

My 03' Chevy Silverado really benefited from the installation of the Timbren bushings. Shipping was fast the instructions from E-trailer were very helpful and made it easy to DIY. The front end of the truck seemed to be sagging especially when the plow was raised even with 600 lbs of ballast. The front end was raised up about 3/4" after the install and the ride quality is greatly improved overall. I cannot hardly wait to try them with the plow. I would highly recommend Timbren bushings to anybody with a higher mileage vehicle like mine 160,000.

These will be going on every truck I buy from now on.

2000 Ram 2500

I ordered timbrens for the front and rear of my chevy 2500. I have a 2000 lb truck camper and I wanted something to help carry the load a little better. I had no idea that my front bump stops had worn away to almost nothing until I installed these. They have worn well and performed well so far.

Still working great. No problems. Really happy I didnt waste the money on airbags.

by:

Put in my plow truck, went in super easy. Gave back stock ride hight with the weight of a all steal v plow.

by:

Replace stock bumpers that had failed allowing front of vehicle to touch frame. These solved that issue!

by:
2005 Chevrolet Silverado

Installed this on my 2005 Silverado 2500HD with the 8.1l engine. Easy 1.5 hour install with hand tools. Raised front of truck about 1" with constant contact with rubber. I'm installing a Boss V Snow Plow and a Truck bed Camper ( for Summer) and needed the extra weight capacity without the suspension sag. Ride quality degraded some, but is not objectionable. Ride is OK for a truck. This is a better solution than changing to stiffer torsion bars or cranking up the stock bars for my application.

by:
2009 Ram 2500

I am impressed with the timkens. Got a 2009 GMC 2500 hd and Western 8.5' v plow. Nose dive was an understatement before. However I put a 2" leveling kit and installed the timkens at the same time. One of them made my truck ride horrible. Probably the leveling kit from the torsion bars being turned in. I do notice tho that empty going over a jarring bump you can feel the timkens hitting hard. But with a plow on the truck it is the way to go. After this winter I'm gonna take them off and put stok back on for the summer. It's one bolt to replace them install was a piece of cake.

by:

Works great on my 2005 2500hd towing my 42 ft fifth wheel. Have them on the back also. No suspension sag and no sway, very impressed.
Fit was correct easy install. Just as good as air bags.

Still holding up with no visble damage.

I have owned and used these over a year now. They honestly still look brand new. When recently I changed my upper and lower ball joints all I needed to do with these was to clean off the dust and dirt. I used my vehicle with these installed most off road and in the woods and they hold up very well and so far 4x longer than OEM!

2008 Chevrolet Silverado

My one-ton is a 2008 Chevy Silverado. As I drove with my 5th wheel I knew it needed some help. The folks at etrailer were great to suggest what I needed. Sure I still have bumps, but not as bad.

by:
Chevy 2500HD Silverado

Timbren SES heavy duty jounce bumpers dramatically improved the ride of my Chevy 2500HD and it drops only a very small amount when I hoist the plow. Less than 1/2" dropbin ride height with the plow raised. Yet the riee is not harsh. Excellent product, wish I knew about it years ago.

The parts did not fit our truck

Before you return the springs, I suggest reaching out to Timbren about the fitment issue that you had. These springs are intended to be a fit for your 2008 GMC Sierra front mounted springs. The only caveat that I see is that for 4Wd it would not fit the OEM or Box vehicles with a 42-inch-wide frame.

by:
2006 GMC Sierra

Works very well in the front of the truck. Made the truck sit 1" higher. Supports the snow plow well.

by:
2006 GMC Sierra

Highly recommend spending the money. My last pickup I bought Sumo Spring rubber stops and they seemed squishy to me, where these are hard and hold up very well. Holds my Boss V-XT 8'2" up where it needs to be. Don't go cheap! You'll regret it!

Chevrolet Silverado 2500

Easy to install, keeps the front end up with the snow plow on our 2500 Silverado

I had a little problem with the web page. So I called etrailer and Greg helped me with my order. So now I understand their web site better and will purchase more product in the future. Thanks! Mike

  • Suspension Enhancement Recommendation for 2004 Chevy Tahoe
Timbrens are going to be what I would recommend for your 2004 Chevy Tahoe. They are better suited for heavier duty applications like what you have so for that the # TGMRYS4 would be what you would want for your 2004 Chevy Tahoe. I attached an install video for you to check out as well. For the front you would want the Timbren kit part # TGMFK25S.

The part # TGMFK15A that you referenced will fit a 2001 Chevy Suburban 1500 4x4. If instead you have a 2500 model you would want the part # TGMFK25S. By nature these Timbren kits will not stiffen up the front suspension unless you have a decent load on the front of the truck. Unloaded you shouldn't notice them installed.

Yes, there is a 12 volt power source on the 7-way that is on your 2011 Ford F-53 RV. It will be on the 11:00 position of the connector as you look at the front of it. Check out the picture I attached that has a picture with all of the terminals of a 7-way labeled with their functions. You might want to test for voltage on this circuit with a Circuit Tester # 3808 as well just to be sure. I also attached an FAQ article on trailer wiring that you might find informative.

  • Timbren Front and Rear Suspension Enhancement For a 1999 Chevrolet Silverado 1500
The Timbren # TGMRCK15S have an 8,600lb capacity while the Timbren # TGMRCK25S only have a 6,000lb capacity. If your 1999 Chevrolet Silverado is only used for occasional heavy loads I would go with the 6,000lb kit otherwise the 8,600lb kit will provide you with the best support if you always have heavy loads. For the front we have the 2WD # TGMFK25S or 4WD # TGMFK15A Timbren springs. These are primarily best when using a snow plow as they have a very heavy 14,000lb capacity. The SumoSprings...

  • Longer Bolt For Timbren Spacers
To add spacers to your Timbren system you are correct when you said you need longer bolts. The kit you're referencing uses a M10 x 30 x 1.5 GR 8.8 bolt to mount to the frame. So you need a bolt that is the same thread pitch, and hardness, but longer, the same as the size spacer you want to use. Since metric bolts use mm for length, there is a little bit of conversion. Roughly each inch will be 25mm. So for example, if you wanted a 1 inch spacer, you'll want to get a M10 x 55 x 1.5 GR 8.8...

You'd remove existing bump stops, and use the hardware and existing holes to instal the rubber Aeon spring.
