This was exactly what I needed to make my hitch work on a Grand Caravan. The adjustable hitch was too close to the bumper after installing the Curt receiver hitch.

You will want to keep in mind that using an extender will reduce the capacity of your hitch by half.

by:

The extender worked as expected. No iss ues

by:

This thing is an absolute beast! well made and solid, with an exceptional finish. Worked as advertised and cleared the spare tire on my Wrangler such that our bike rack could be installed correctly. An exceptional product!

by:

The shaft length of a standard insert for a receiver hitch was too short to allow towing a 96 gallon trash can because the trash can lid was wedged against the tailgate of the ATV. The hitch extender has added sufficient length that the lid hinge can be dropped onto the trailer ball without being wedged against the tailgate.

Still working as intended with no downtime or difficulties.. also useful as an easy tiedown point when transporting the atv on a flatbed trailer.

by:

The hitch extension is heavy duty and I’m extremely happy with the quality. Service was superb and received the product in 2 days. Happy, happy, happy. Before and after photos are included.

I just wanted to provide you with a heads-up that using an extender like the # C45791 will reduce the capacity of your receiver hitch by 50 percent, as mentioned on the product page.

by:

Great. Extended my hitch just enough to keep my truck bumper from hitting my v-nose trailer. It greatly reduces the weight ratio, but length works out great.

Actually I bought a superduty and took extender out. Went with new B&W hitch on new truck. But the extender worked great on the f150

by:

I purchased this extension to use with my front end Curt Class 3 receiver hitch. This setup was installed for use of my Warn Wench that is installed in a portable receiver cradle that I use on either the front or rear of my truck. I chose this extension because of the solid shank that made it stronger than most other I shopped. As all extensions reduce the hitch weight rating, this one provided the least amount of reduction. I am very happy with my purchase and it works as advertised.

by:

Heavy metal, fit current hitch well. Good extention for Thule bike rack.

by:

Great product, excellent website, very user friendly (the "how to" videos were especially helpful in making sure the product I was ordering was the right one), highly responsive customer relations department. The hitch extender worked correctly the first time, and fits perfectly with my new Thule bike rack (see photos). I highly recommend eTrailer!

by:

super fast shipping and worked perfect as described this was for my personal lowered c-10 1970 step side I wanted my hitch hidden behind the lic plate and was having some clearance issues with the plate as it had to flip up not down to clear my hitch We use the m a,lot at work for hitches trailer parts ect with supply chain issues they take the time to call you and offer other solutions if not in stock for your on online orders excellent customer service

by:

Received the 8” extension and it does exactly what I needed it to do. Matches up nicely with the Curt hitch on my SUV. Now I need not worry about how closely my trailers come to the rear end. Fast delivery and great support.

by:

I got this for my side by side as the receiver was mounted too far underneath the unit to be practical. This adapter moved it out to just the right spot. I use my SxS to move my trailers around my property mostly, & it works great.

by:

Put a receiver underneath my travel trailer and I needed to Ring the receiver out 8 inches from underneath the trailer and it fit perfect and it’s heavy duty And with the anti-rattle device I got from etrailer it works perfect.

by:

Works well, allows for oversized spare tire on the back of the Jeep to clear the teardrop trailer tongue jack.

*** Packaging was horrible. Placed in a cardboard box w/ no packing material, box was destroyed on arrival, and damaged / chipped paint. If you are going to charge us for shipping at least package the product so it will not be destroyed in normal shipping ***

Thank you for your review and I apologize about the shipping damage. Customer Service will be reaching out to you.

by:

Waited to answer, pkg arrived empty, called etrailer to advise, you shipped replacement right away and it has arrived. Thank you so much

by:

This extender worked perfectly. It is the perfect length to clear the spare tire on my Jeep. I haven’t noticed any problems with the additional tongue weight that this supposedly adds. It’s a better solution than removing my spare tire. I’m pulling a 17.5 foot bass boat.

by:

Way too much play between it and the receptacle. I use it for a bicycle rack and the whole thing wobbles too much. I still use it, but it's unnerving.

by:

As usual you always have what I need. Thank you also for rapid, reasonable shipping.

by:

Great product, very heavy duty. Allowed me to mount bike rack behind a large Jeep tire. Easy ordering and quick shipping.

by:

Didn't work for my jeep because of the 35 inch tire attached to the tailgate.

by:

Both products excellent.

by:

I'm sure the product was good as etrailer is always excellent. But when we got back two of the pieces were in the box but the curt hitch extender was not. The box had a hole in it and was tapped over. Who knows what happened.

Well made and finished. It was exactly what I needed. The product was delivered earlier than promised. I like doing business with eTrailer.

by:

I purchased this Extender for my RV. The factory hitch was installed right under the bumper which made it very difficult to get the trailer hitch on top of the ball. With the extender, it is a snap to hook up my trailer without damaging the fiberglass bumper.
The extender is extremely heavy duty and well made. I am thrilled with my purchase and it sure make my trailer hookup much easier.

Ordered the Curt bolt on hitch for our 20015 Wrangler, along with the Curt Hitch Extender and the custom fit wiring from Curt. Never disappointed with Curt's quality and eTrailer's prompt delivery. All was securely packaged and the bolt on hitch was a breeze to install!

  • Swinging Hitch Mount Bike Rack Fit On 2011 Mercedes GL450
I would not recommend using a hitch extender with your FullSwing bike rack either. Normally an inch of clearance between the rearmost point of the rack and your vehicle is still a safe amount of space. We test fit the Yakima FullSwing # Y02465 on a 2013 Ford Escape that has 1-1/2 inches of clearance at the back. I have attached the review video on the Escape for you. There are a couple of reasons why I would not recommend using a hitch extender for your bike rack. A hitch extender won't...

  • Extended Ball Mount For a 2-1/2 Receiver For Towing a 8,000LB Trailer
I recommend the Gen-Y Torsion 2-Ball Mount w/ Stacked Receivers # 325-GH-1324 as being the best way to extend your hitch ball on your F-250. Currently we do not have any 12-14" extenders that are rated to tow the 8,000lbs you are needing to tow. The Gen-Y hitch places the hitch ball at either 17-1/2" or 19" depending on which hitch pin hole your use. Included with the hitch is a 2 ball mount that has a 2" and 2-5/16" hitch ball. The shank fits your 2-1/2" receiver so that there is no...

Thanks for letting me know what you have tried and what you currently have for a ball mount. It looks like you want an 8 inch extension and the Curt # C45791 was not the fit you desired. We have used this extension with other similar Curt products without issue (see photo), but we don't have the Neiko ball mount to confirm fit. It sounds like the ball mount may have a slightly longer shank behind the hitch pin holes than most, so I recommend trying a slightly longer extension like...

  • Will Thule T2 Trailer Hitch Mount Bike Rack Clear the Spare Tire on a 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited
I do not recommend using a hitch extender because doing so will reduce the tongue weight capacity of the trailer hitch by 50 percent and it puts extra stress on the hitch. I love the # TH69TX rack but my research shows that your tongue weight on your Jeep is 300 pounds. If you cut that in half and subtract he weight of the T2 Pro XTR, you would only have 54 pounds for your 4 bikes and that will not work. To get a rack that will work, you will need to measure from the center of the trailer...

  • Will the RockyMounts MonoRail Get Melted If Installed On the Back Of A 2021 Toyota RAV4?
The RockyMounts MonoRail Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches # RKY10004 has 12.25" of rise built into it, so it should sit plenty high and away from your exhaust on your 2021 Toyota RAV4 to not be melted. If you get the rack and realize even with the built in rise it's still too close to your exhaust, you could always use an extender # C45791 to push the rack out further. We haven't had a 2011 in to install this hitch and take that measurement. Another thing is the Swagman XTC4 that you also purchased, # S64665, is only 3-1/2 inches from the center of the pin hole to the nearest part of the carrier when it is folded up. • Will 18" Long Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank Reduce Tongue Weight Capacity
Using a longer shank like the # EQ90-02-4600 will not reduce the capacity of your hitch. It is typically only when you use an adapter or extender like # C45791. Adding in the extra piece is what causes the reduction because of the way force is applied. A longer weight distribution hitch shank, just like an extended ball mount, won't impact the capacity.

If you need a longer extension, I recommend the Curt Hitch Extender for 2" Hitch Receivers - 8" Long # C45791 which will give you an 8 inch extension but will also reduce your trailer hitch tongue weight rating by up to 50 percent like all hitch extenders do including the Blue Ox.
