Will the GearSpace 34 Clear the Rear Doors on a 2017 Pleasure Way Motorhome

Question:

I own a 2017 Pleasure Way Class B motorhome The model is a Plateau TS. I think I am correct that the HGK8197 model will fit on the back. The chassis is a Mercedes Sprinter model 3500 which has the 2inch hitch. I measure roughly 31 inches from the hitch opening to the front of the carrier when fully extended. In watching your video it stated there is another 5 inch adjustment that should work well for me as I probably only need 1 more inch, Am I correct in my calculations assuming I have measured properly. I realize I am the weak link in the equation. I currently use a ROLA swing out unit which has served me well for 27,500 miles but I have needed more space for a long time. Also do these ever go on sale? I dont need it tomorrow.

It sounds like you are trying to determine whether or not the GearSpace 34 Enclosed Cargo Carrier part # HGK819 will slide out and allow for the rear doors to open on your 2017 Pleasure Way Motorhome. If that is the case then what you will need to do is open the rear doors on your motorhome and then measure from the furthest point out back to the center of hitch pin hole on your trailer hitch. As long as this distance does not exceed 32" then the GearSpace 34 will clear the rear doors. This will be assuming that you are using the hitch pin hole closest to the vehicle on the shank and the wings that attach the box to the side are as close to the telescope-safety pin hole as possible. These two adjustments can be seen in step 1 and 5 of the attached instructions. This accounts for the 5" extension you seen mentioned in the video.

If you need more space than this then we do offer an extension, the Curt Hitch Extender part # C45791 but it will reduce the hitch's overall capacity by 50 percent so I don't really recommend using it unless absolutely necessary.
