Bias Tires vs. Radial Tires

Bias vs. radial tire graphic

Bias ply tires are designed for off-road or agricultural applications. They are built with thick, durable nylon cords that are positioned at a 30- to 45-degree angle to the direction of travel. The layers alternate in a crisscross pattern, making the sidewalls stiffer so that the entire tire is able to flex easily. As a result, the tire provides a smooth ride and improved handling when trailering on uneven surfaces.

Good tire. I had no issues mounting and balancing them. I use mine on a mostly off road mini yard truck. Tires have nice tread and don't mark up the grass.

by:

Great product. Completely improve the handling of my trailer. Great customer service and also the delivery was right on point.

by:

So far after a year I’m very happy with my tires

by:

Fast delivery, good prices. Will be using e-trailer again.

Great quality tire, Nice tread and they appear to be wearing very well. I would defiantly recommend these tires

by:

Tires came in just a few days using free shipping option. Very satisfied with the product, cost and service. Highly recommend e-trailer.

Tires are still perfect. I dont put a lot of miles on them so I cant comment on wear but very happy with my purchase and experience with etrailer. Will definitely use them again.

by:

I bought this as a spare tire to go with 2 tires & rims that I ordered at the same time. Had the tire mounted on an existing rim, and will rotate all 3 tires on a regular basis.

by:

Recently had a blowout on our pontoon trailer and needed a replacement. These tires exceed the original weight rating and look great at a good price. So we bought two and plan to get two more to match. The customer service at etrailer is by far the best I've had with super quick shipping and great customer followup.

by:

Tires are great! Replacement tires for pontoon boat on galvanized rims. Only had to put in a little air a couple times in last year. Very satisfied.

by:

Happy with the tires- wished the price was lower. I purchased a similar tire a few years ago and paid double on this purchase.

by:

Overall great experience.

by:

The Loadstar is good tire for use on my boat trailer. They wear extremely well and have a good tread design. I got 11 years of light use on my last set and am only changing them out due to some slight sidewall cracking. A solid product!

by:

Since day one, I have had no problems with these tires. In fact, I need to order another one to replace my spare tire. Thanks Etrailer...

by:

They are tires. The right size and load range. Replacements for a pair that are worn badly.

Most impressive was the virtually instant fulfillment and fast shipping.

Thanks, George J.

by:

Items shipped quickly and were well pac kaged.

by:

Reliable tire at a good price!

by:

AM VERY HAPPY WITH THE TRAILER TIRES NO PROBLEMS WITH THEM. HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

by:

Needing new lawn tractor tires for a very old, but very good tractor I found that my numbers were not listed on tires anywhere. Robert took the time to cross over the numbers and the tires arrived 3 days later. Better quality than tires available near me, and at a great price. Hard to beat their products and service.

by:

These tires I bought for my pontoon boat trailer are great tires, they were shipped fast and free, and are much better than the cheap knockoffs that are on the market.

by:

I had excellent service with the tires I purchased from etrailer and the loan co that helped me get these tires now so I would not have to wait till I save the money thank you

by:

I have ordered from you before and found good products and great help. I received the product in a timely order and have been happy with it. So i decided to order from you again and had to have a little help in cross-referencing the size. The salesperson was real helpful and knowledgeable. I will order from you again. Thanks

by:

Ordered two trailer tires. Most impressive was the shipping (free) and they arrived in two days. Have not mounted the tires but that's the easy part!

  • What Trailer Tire Size Can Replace A 195/70R14 Tire Size
The 195/70R14 tire is a passenger car tire size. A trailer should have a ST rated tire. which means it is a Special Trailer tire. The special trailer tire is designed with stronger sidewalls and can handle higher air pressures which are needed when being used on a trailer that is made to carry a load. A trailer tire will always need to be inflated to the maximum inflation pressure to be able to handle the weight capacity it is rated for. The 195/70R14 size has an overall diameter of...

  • Which Tire would be the Best Fit for a Towmaster 20.5x8.0x10 Tire on a Pontoon Boat Trailer
Just like with a car, if you need to replace one on an axle, you should replace the other so both sides of the axle wear evenly. I am assuming the wheel diameter is 10 inches. The best fit tire size would be a 205/65-10. Load range C is part # AM1HP52 had has a maximum capacity of 1,100 pounds at 50 psi. If you want a bit more weight capacity, you could use a load range D, part # AM1HP54, that has a 1,330 pound capacity at 70 psi or for the most capacity, load range E, part # AM1HP56 with...

  • Does Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire, # AM1HP54 Require a Tube
The Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire, # AM1HP54, does not require an inner tube so you cannot use one with it. All of the trailer tires we carry are tubeless. A tubeless tire has a liner in it so it does not need a tube. If you were to try to use a tube you would be adding an additional liner and you would get heat build up twice as fast. If you have tires that require a tube then you just go by the size of the tire, the tube will have the same size designation as the tire. We do not offer...

  • Trailer Tires to Replace 7.75-14 Tires on a Trailer
The closest match we have to your 7.75-14 tires is going to be a 205/75-14. As long as the wheels you have now are 5 to 6-1/2 inches wide (measured on the inside where the tire sits) then you could use this size. It will be 8.1 inches wide and 26.3 inches tall. This size is available in different load ranges (capacities) C, or D. The load range C, # AM1ST86, is rated for 1,760 pounds at 50 psi. And the load range D, # AM10235, is rated for 2,040 pounds at 65 psi.

  • Will 205/65-10 Trailer Tire Fit in Place of 205/50-10 Trailer Tire
It can, so long as you have the right amount of clearance from the top of your tire to your fender (approximately 3 inches). A 205/65-10 trailer tire measures 20.5" in diameter and a 205/50-10 trailer tire measures 18.1" in diameter so you'll need to account for the roughly 2-1/2" of size for the larger tire (though since only half of that is on top of the tire you'll only need an extra 1-1/4" of space on top of the tire). You'll want to verify this but unless your current tire is very...

  • Replacement Trailer Tires for Size 20.5 x 8 - 10
Those are some extremely old tires. We recommend changing them every 6 years or so regardless of tread wear. The metric size for your 20.5 x 8 - 10 tires is 205/65-10. Our most popular tire in this size is # AM1HP54. It has a load range D and max capacity of 1,330 pounds at 70 psi. If you'd like a higher rated tire we have # AM1HP56 with an E load range rated for 1,650 pounds at 90 psi. Both tires have a 2-year limited warranty.

  • Comparable Replacement Tire for 20.5x10-10 Tire on Snowmobile Trailer
I have a solution for you, but we don't have that particular size tire available currently; I know that the 20.5 x 8-10 is a more common size and maybe you actually have those on your trailer currently. The 20.5x8-10 trailer tires are going to be 20-1/2" tall and 8" wide so you can use the Loadstar K39 # AM1HP54 which are 20.6" tall and 8" wide, so they're a perfect match, really. These tires have a Load Range D (1330-lbs per tire capacity) so they should be more than enough for your snowmobile...

  • Is There a Tire Shorter for 10" Wheels Than My Current 20.5x8-10 Tire
I may have a solution for you to put a smaller tire on, but the smallest tire for 10" wheels we've got available will also be roughly 20" tall; the # AM1HP54 you were looking at has a diameter of 20.6", so it's really the same diameter of those 20.5x8-10 tires but slightly less wide-which doesn't seem to be the issue. You might be able to go down to a smaller wheel like an 8" wheel to find a smaller tire. Something like the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Tire with 8" Wheel and 5 on 4-1/2" bolt pattern...

  • Recommended Replacement Tire For A 10" Trailer Wheel
The tire size 20.5x8-10 will mean you have a 10 inch wheel. The 18.5x8-8 size will mean it will fit an 8 inch wheel, so unfortunately, they will not be compatible with each other. If your are looking for a replacement tire for your 10 inch wheel, I recommend the Kenda Loadstar K399 Bias Trailer Tire - 205/65-10 - Load Range D # AM1HP54. This will have a capacity of 1,330 pounds at 70 psi and is a very capable tire.

Both the 205/50-10 and the 20 x 8-10 (also known as 205/65-10) tires are designed for use on 10x6 inch rims, so you'll have no problem fitting the new size on your existing rims. I'd recommend the Kenda Loadstar, available in the following load ranges: • Load Range B, 910 lbs/tire part # AM1HP50 • Load Range C, 1100 lbs/tire part # AM1HP52 • Load Range D, 1320 lbs/tire part # AM1HP54 • Load Range E, 1650 lbs/tire part # AM1HP56

I like changing to a Kenda KR25 Radial Trailer Tire with 12" Aluminum HWT Wheel # AM31208HWT as long as it will not have any clearance issues.
